4 evacuated passengers from ‘Hantavirus’ cruise ship land at Victoria International Airport

Four Canadians who were aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship recently made famous for an outbreak of an Andes strain of Hantavirus have been flown to Victoria from Spain, and will now isolate for a period of three weeks.

No symptoms were reported among the Canadian evacuees, while other evacuees flown to other destinations did show symptoms.
Three people who were aboard the ship have died of the virus.

Hantavirus is described as a virus transmitted via rodents and causes respiratory and renal illnesses in humans. The strain rarely transmits via humans, the World Health Organization says.

Saying “I beg your pardon” after a speaking mistake makes me laugh

Like “oh yes please forgive me for messing up my words, i beg you”🙏🙏

and the funniest part is when it happens after someone like trips up their speech or something. Like ya tbh i was considering not being ur friend anymore after that

but if people are speaking and they mess up their words or something, saying “i beg your pardon” just seems like such an unnecessary statement lmao. But the manners are A+ and i’m not remotely advocating to be less respectful, it just makes me laugh

saying the phrase doesn’t always make me laugh tho, I think it’s understandable in some situations. For example, if someone’s saying a fact and then they get it wrong and correct themselves, yeah that’s chill.

these are chill and i don’t laugh at these: sorry, pardon, pardon me, excuse me, etc

Brandon Ingram underwent a successful surgery today on his right heel

via Aaronbenrose instagram

A lot of people owe BI an apology, I mean some of the things I read from this sub let alone what other media people were saying was just nasty. The guy was probably dying to be out there.

Can we stop assuming how injured a player is?? I know it’s frustrating and that we would want them out there, but the way some people talked about BI missing games was like he was out partying the night before or something. The guy just had surgery on it…

Praying for a speedy recovery and that everything works out for notorious.

Since when is working more than one job a problem?

She would’ve been hailed during the industrial revolution.

God forbid someone has more than one job, but hey, “let’s just keep giving out slaps on the wrists to pedos and 🍇ists”

vile. disgusting. joke of a system.

Been hearing some questionable things from Curry lately, plus the investments into Israeli war technology (i get that people aren’t always aware of what they’re investing into, and sometimes just have a manager doing the work) but idk man, somethings off.

edit: for the people arguing about how much value steph has added to the warriors, yes, steph has had a big impact on them.

but in 2006 the average NBA franchise value was $250M. now it’s $5.4B. that’s an average increase of ~2060% in value for EVERY FRANCHISE since steph was drafted. steph was not solely responsible for this like how some commentators have argued. what about the ppl who drafted him and didn’t trade him? what about the medical team keeping his ankle injuries away? do they get a share or nah?

Absolutely love GT, and i’m not too sure if there’s any word on him staying or not. Just watching him in the playoffs on the bench was such a joy. I mean even after RJ’s g6 game winner, as everyone else on the bench is celebrating, GT is screaming “GET BACK ON D” such a good guy and would be so sad if he left, but he fully deserves a nice retirement, what a player and leader.

but if he leaves, which vet do we go after? after GT, our most experienced players are Jakob Poeltl and BI… lol!

man i hope he stays, and if there’s already word that he’s staying, my apologies and i’ll delete this post but i couldn’t find anything online saying that.

Listen, I've at one point been both a Darko believer and a Darko out person, but the Raptors must keep Darko around for at least one more season.

Darko would stand in front of a train for the boys. When we first hired him, we knew about his strengths in player development; we were flirting with a rebuild before hiring him and I think the FO knew Spicy P and OG were gonna be traded sometime that year.

This year in particular, Darko has stepped up. Results aside, Darko has brought an identity to the raptors, and brought their own brand of basketball back. The guys clearly like Darko, and I imagine that when the FO does their end of season meetings, the players' input on Darko will have a big effect on whether he sticks around or not.

I'm not even too sure if there's talk or people saying Darko shouldn't be the coach, I just don't really get how you can still want Darko out? He makes questionable decisions here and there, and sometimes his rotations can be a bit flawed, but I also whole heartidly believe that if we had a healthy IQ and BI (and maybe a centre who can rebound and play basketabll) we would've beaten the cavs. (in 6, i don't think we lose that game 5 with them)

Just a rant and an opinion, and I'm really curious to hear people who want darko out. I'm not saying my opinion is the right one or that people saying we should get a different coach is wrong, but I just strongly feel this way.

Why get rid of a coach who has a tremendous impact on the players' growth and development, AND is bringing in decent results/their own brand of basketball. it's been so fun to watch the raptors this year (for the first time really since 2021-22) and i would be quite sad if we got rid of Darko

This is NOT at all meant to be shade towards Alvin. I like the guy, and I've been an Alvin defender for quite some time on this sub...but i just don't get how we couldn't have Jack doing this.

I'm well aware that TSN/Sportsnet share the broadcast, and Jack does TSN stuff, but man I would've 100% preferred Jack doing the calling tonight. Alvin is a fine commentator, and the criticism towards him sometimes is a bit much, but some of it is def valid and I wasn't even going to make this post until I heard Alvin sounding quite anxious in the pregame show.

Maybe a meaningless venting post, as i'm nervously pacing around my room right now, about to go chill with my family and watch the game, but man gonna miss jack out there tonight. go raps

I haven’t tinkered with the sibling and child rate yet in league settings, and i’ve def had other generations of players on my teams, but i can’t say i’ve ever had a father AND his son on a team at the same time. Is it possible?

Not even same team necessarily, but is it possible to have a father and son both in the league at the same time? or do they have to retire first before ever having sex?

saw a lot of posts on this play so wanted to focus more on Jamal’s reaction, i love shead so much. basketball skills aside, he’s such a great human and exactly the type of player we need for our culture.

i haven’t been this locked in on a raptors game since game 7 vs the celtics in 2020. i love life and jamal shead
