References to other animes/mangas?

15 minutes into the 10th episode of he anime Onimai, the main character Mahiro picks up a volume of a manga in a bookstore. The name of the manga and its cover are from a real manga - Masamune-kun's Revenge, as you can see in the second screenshot. This was the first time I encountered something like this.

  • How common are these kind of references to real animes and mangas within anime, in your experience?

Special characters like åäö in Vial or QMK?

I have a Ferris Sweep (which is a 34 key split keyboard) and I am configuring my own layout using Vial. I am a complete beginner in this, and the only way I found to be able to type the Swedish characters ÅÄÖ using Vial was assigning three keys to two macros each using Unicode. I had to do it like this because these characters aren't available on the on screen keyboard in Vial. Each character in the Unicode is typed by the macro with one millisecond in between. One key outputs å or Å, depending on if you press it shortly or hold it down. For äÄ and öÖ it is the same mechanism.

I find this method far from optimal since there is a delay in the characters appearing on screen, and would preferably want to be able to type these åäö as if they were normal letters...

  • Is there a way to assign characters like åäö to keys in Vial without using Unicode?
  • If it isn't possible, can it be done using QMK? I am willing to learn how to do it if it is needed.

Thanks in advance! :)

34 key layout for Swedish, English and programming

I have a 34 key Ferris Sweep keyboard that I use sometimes, and I have the Miryoku layout, that is based on Colemak-DH, on it. This layout is really good for English and programming, but not for Swedish.

  • Does anyone have any tips of how I could optimize this for Swedish, or know of any other layout that would be good for my usecase?

Thanks in advance! :)

Best layout for Swedish, English and programming?

I'm using a 75% keyboard, and I'm currently switching between the Swedish Qwerty and American Qwerty with a shortcut, but I find it very unergonomic. I like the placement of the symbols on the American layout, but I have to switch to the Swedish one for the letters åäö, and these are quite common, but still written with right pinky. I write in Swedish and English half of the time.

I can type around 40 wpm in Coleman-DH, but I don't find that layout very good for Swedish.

  • Does anyone know of a layout good for both Swedish, English, and preferably also programming?

I use these all the time even though I learned touch typing one year ago, and type at a speed of around 70 wpm currently. Maybe that is because I have them on my keyboard though.

  • Are these essential to make sure your fingers are in the right place? Or have you removed them from your keyboard, as I know some people do?

I am happy about my new PBs in both my native language Swedish, and English, which is my second language. I find it easier to type fast in English, since I then don't have to type the Swedish characters åäö, which are all typed with the right pinky. My next goal is 150 wpm.

I know 10 words isn't very impressive, and I often try practicing with more text and with English 1K and up, and with Swedish 1K (there is nothing above that). I also practice with TypeRacer sometimes.

I am currently using Linux Mint, but the default window tiling which comes with Cinnamon is far from enough for me. I have installed i3wm which I have really liked. I enjoy its keyboard driven tiling, and I really like how it is a tiling window mananger where you can do everything with the keyboard. In i3wm however you have to set up everything yourself - you have to choose everything that you want to use, make changes in config files and so on to make everything work how you like it. This aspect of it has been okay, but one thing I liked about PopOS when I tried it the other day is that it comes with a DE that has a keyboard driven tiling window manager built in, with good default shortcuts that are almost the same as i3wm's defaults.

I watched Chris Titus video about Pop!OS the other day, and this made me a little bit hesitant if I should install it and use it.

  • What do you think about Pop!OS? Is it a good distro to use, or does it have many problems as Chris Titus said?

Hej!

I don't know if I chose the right sub for this, but I have this problem... I live in Sweden and thus I write a lot in Swedish using the Swedish Qwerty layout, which includes three keys for the letters åäö. However, since I am a Linux user who often uses the terminal, and does some occasional coding, I need to use some symbols a lot, and some of them requires many keypresses compared to the US Qwerty layout. Symbols like [ ] { } and ~ require pressing down AltGr, which is very inconvinient.

Up until now I have switched between the two layouts - I have been using the US one when typing in English and using my computer, and the Swedish one when typing in Swedish, which I do most of the time. However this has been very confusing because of the fact that many symbols have other placements on the Swedish layout compared to the US one, which has resulted in me becoming less proficient in using both keyboard layouts since I messed up my muscle memory.

I would like to stick with just one layout, since I don't like switching between them. I am using an ANSI mechanical keyboard, which isn't optimal using the Swedish keyboard layout with, since almost all keyboards here uses ISO layouts. The last week I have been trying the US International keyboard layout, where I can just hold down AltGr and then press q, w and p to write ä, å and ö. This might be an option, but it takes some getting used too.

  • Has someone else been in a similiar situation of prefering the US layout to your native one? What did you do? Do you switch between layouts depending on what language you type, or do you maybe use the US Inernational layout?

Thanks in advance! :)

When you search in the settings for power saving mode and activate it, dark themes gets applied to every single app, which isn't optimal for Eink. I tried enabling the invert colors option, but then pictures and videos gets inverted too. I would like to have power saving mode enabled but that the light themes I have in every app stay enabled.

  • Does anyone know how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance 🙏

I searched English Wikipedia for Xteink X4, but there was no such article written. I know anyone can write on Wikipedia, but I have no such experience.

I think many people would enjoy reading about Xteink X4 there, so if some of you have experience contributing to Wikipedia, I'm sure it would be appreciated. 🙂
