Looking for help building a gaming PC around $1000–$1400 (€900–€1300)

I’m from Sweden and I haven’t kept up with PC hardware for years, so I’m looking for advice on what parts I should realistically aim for in 2026.

My budget is around:
- $1000–$1400
- roughly €900–€1300

Main use:
- Gaming
- YouTube/general use

What I want:
- Stable 60+ FPS
- Good/high graphics settings
- Preferably 1440p capable if realistic in this budget
- Games like Baldur’s Gate 3 without lag or stuttering
- A PC that will still feel solid for several years

I’m not trying to get extreme 4K ultra settings or competitive 300 FPS esports performance. I mainly want modern games to look good and run smoothly.

Current PC:
- ASUS Z170 gaming system from around 2015–2016
- Probably GTX 970/1070-era hardware

Questions:
- What GPU should I realistically target?
- What CPU gives the best value now?
- Is 32GB RAM worth it yet for gaming?
- Would AMD or Intel/NVIDIA make more sense for this budget?
- Is it even worth upgrading my current PC anymore?

Hey, I’m looking for a gaming PC around $1000–$1400 (€900–€1300) max.

I mainly want it for gaming with good graphics and smooth performance. I’d prefer better than 1080p if possible, since modern games are clearly built around higher graphics settings now.

What I’m looking for:
- Stable 60+ FPS
- Good/high graphics settings
- Preferably 1440p capable if realistic for the budget
- Games like Baldur’s Gate 3 without lag or stuttering
- A PC that will still feel good for several years

I’m not trying to get 300 FPS for competitive esports or do extreme 4K ultra gaming. I mostly want modern games to look good and run smoothly.

I currently have an old ASUS Z170 gaming PC from around 2015–2016.

Would you recommend:
- buying a prebuilt
- upgrading my old PC
- or building a new one?

And what GPU/CPU should I realistically aim for in 2026 with this budget?

Controller is on, it can be charging for hours just for it to be dead and not even be able to start the ps5 from the Sony button. It can also go from dead to full in like 3 min somehow

Can my laptop run Arma 3 with 50–100+ mods in milsim/co-op?

Specs:
- ASUS TUF A15 (FA507NUR-HQ032W)
- Ryzen 7 7435HS
- RTX 4050 (6GB VRAM)
- 16GB RAM

I’m mainly planning to play modded/co-op and possibly milsim. How well would this handle bigger modpacks?
