But do we actually think anyone will enforce this?

These "light rail" trains look almost as long as the 80' Railroad cars

Also, why is the rendering for Queenslink not at all looking like a subway train?

Indiana, USA made a new Instagram channel to protest the ban of trams within the state

Their Insta

Yup, if y'alls aren't aware, the capital of the state wanted to build a tram line thru the city, but the politicians are so car-centric, that they BANNED trams in the whole state***. (EDIT: NOT the whole state, only the area where the capital is)

So now the capital has two "improved" bus lines instead.

Some people say that trams are not needed, as there is not enough population, but I still feel that this is just an evident example of just how easily transit projects can go down the gutter in the United States.

Anyways, was happy when I found their Insta that they JUST made, rallying supporters for trams.

$10,000,000 offered by R&N for the tracks. Luzerne County Courthouse says, see if there are any other companies willing to bid

Further details in the Times article

In the first picture, the land that is behind the train crossing Market St in Wilkes-Barre has already been bought by R&N for a future train station for weekend scenic excursions to Jim Thorpe. The question is, will they be able to buy the tracks from the County.

the Floridian only has one more year of service ✌️

To be fair, i think that bringing back the Silver Star and the Capital Limited will be a good thing. Will definitely obviously help with On Time Performance, but more so, the Silver Meteor definitely needs help, especially in the Northeast, especially in the summer, when all the trains are sold out.

but fr let's all take moment to remember the direct Midwest to Florida service while we have it 🥹

This has been on my mind for a while now. When i saw MNRs scheme for their Charger's, I could've swore I saw it before, and, thats cuz I did.

Do you think Amtrak Midwest carries it better, or Metro North?

10+ hours on a bus to another country.

We choose to take the bus from Scranton Pennsylvania to Toronto CANADA.

I always here how bad Greyhound is online, so even though I love buses, I was a little anxious at all the things that was said to have/could happen. And also (I went with my mother) and she complains over everything. First time on Greyhound, so I really didn't know what to expect. Also my first time crossing an international border.

Price was pretty good. About $65 one way per person for 400 miles one way of travel. It was a direct bus too; no transfers along the way.

The bus was On-time the whole way, in both directions. In both directions also, we did get older buses. I was a lil disappointed because there was a lot of hype with the newer fleet (2024+), but I was surprised because the Prevost X3-45 that we took were pretty sufficient. There was plenty of legroom (I am 5'6" btw), armrests, seat recline, A/C, reading lights, outlets (outdated, but they work), and even trash bags in each aisle. The windows on these Prevost buses are MASSIVE. Overhead luggage racks, and undercarriage luggage bays as well.

There is not really a bathroom onboard (despite this very long journey), but rather simply an emergency toilet in the back. There is no sink/water at all. I did not use it at all, but my mother did once, and she did not like it. Bring hand sanitizer!

Now, although there being no transfers, this is something that I found to be a big fault with the service: We had a few stops on the way, mostly to just pickup/drop off passengers and immediately head off, but there are extended stretch breaks at some stops; for our trip, they were at Syracuse and Buffalo in both directions. (The bus schedule can be found in the last two pictures). Now, I thought this would be excellent, you could step off the bus. But in real life, this operation actually proves to be a pain.

At these stops, you MUST (not a choice) get off the bus, and you MUST bring all your luggage with you, and wait in the terminal until the bus' departure time. Now granted, you can skidadle if you want and go explore the city, not recommended as you can miss your bus, but you can! So Syracuse, that was OK. The bus terminal is in the middle of nowhere, so we were kinda forced to stay in the terminal, but my mother (and me) HATED the hour and a half wait at Buffalo. The terminal was overcrowded, dirty, homeless/dangerous/crazy people EVERYWHERE, even a few blocks from the terminal. And not like one or two every here and there, but EVERYWHERE. Smell of smoke everywhere. Yes, she was wearing a N95 mask. And even though we were in the middle of downtown, there was nowhere to really go to outside of the bus terminal in walking distance (remember, we have all our luggage with us).

The outbound bus was a daytime bus. But the return bus was an overnight bus. I thought we'd sleep the whole time and wake up in the morning in Scranton, but no, we still had to get off the bus (at 12:00AM and 2:00AM respectively) and do the waiting in the terminal thing. That really took away from the overnight journey benefit of that ride.

Crossing the border: was super simple. We just got off the bus with our stuff, the Police asked us a few simple questions in their little "office", they X-Ray our bags airport style, and then we got back on the bus ez-pz.

And the bus terminal in Toronto ONT is excellent. Sorry I didn't take any pictures, I dunno why I didn't, but it was clean, modern, access to ALL transportation options to all of Toronto and even almost all of Ontario province.

In the end, it was a pretty nice trip. It's a shame that people only post their complaints online, but never have time to compliment when something is good, but I wanna say to any who has never taken Greyhound/FlixBus in the USA who maybe scared cuz all the bad stuff posted online: Try it. See for yourself. Especially with rising oil prices/toll prices... Sheesh.
