Community Statement & Timeline

Over the last few years, many people have joined this subreddit without really knowing how it came to exist, what its goals are, or why it continues to operate independently from the official WarEra moderation structure.

We feel it is time to properly explain that.

A Personal Note from u/Gigameister

I played WarEra extensively in the past. I enjoyed the game, the politics, the drama, the rivalries, and the community interactions that naturally form around sandbox games.

Eventually, I stepped away from actively playing when the in-game environment and community became more toxic than enjoyable for me personally.

That said, I still genuinely like the concept of WarEra and continue following the game through this subreddit. It keeps me informed, entertained, and connected to the evolution of the project without requiring direct involvement in the in-game political landscape.

Ironically, not actively playing the game anymore is also one of the reasons I believe I can remain fair when it comes to moderation here.

The Timeline of r/warera

While I was still actively involved in the game and known within the community, I approached members of the WarEra administration team with a simple idea:

WarEra needed a proper Reddit presence if it wanted to grow.

At the time, the existing r/warera subreddit and its moderation structure were not representing the game particularly well, and I believed the platform had much more potential.

That suggestion was not well received by most people involved at the time.

The only meaningful support ever provided by the WarEra administration side came from ArturoJ, who supplied a few graphics and assets for the subreddit. Some of those are still being used today.

Beyond that, the work was entirely community-driven.

Over the following months, the current moderation team invested significant time and effort into rebuilding the subreddit from the ground up:

  • Restructuring moderation
  • Cleaning up the subreddit
  • Rebranding it
  • Organizing content
  • Establishing rules and standards
  • Turning it into a functional and respectable community hub

After roughly six months of consistent work, the moderation team had finally stabilized and reshaped the subreddit into what it is today.

At that point, despite all the work invested, the team approached the WarEra administration and offered to hand over the subreddit entirely, no questions asked.

That offer was declined.

Since then, the subreddit has remained independent and community-operated.

Where Things Stand Today

Since that period, r/warera has continued growing organically across every meaningful metric.

The moderation team has consistently maintained an intentionally neutral posture regarding in-game politics, conflicts, and personal disputes.

Whenever unusual situations, concerns, or potentially problematic behavior surfaced, those concerns were communicated to the official administration side. Historically, those reports were largely ignored or downplayed.

Because of this, we strongly believe that keeping the subreddit independent remains the healthiest path for the community.

Unlike in-game systems or official communication channels, this subreddit exists as a moderated but open place for discussion, criticism, memes, drama, feedback, debate, and community interaction.

Freedom of speech does not mean lack of moderation.

It means moderation without political allegiance.

On Neutrality

I have always believed that anyone moderating a community platform tied to a competitive sandbox game should ideally not be actively involved in the game’s political ecosystem.

Moderators should not have a factional interest, personal power position, or “cat in the race.”

I clearly do not.

Like anyone who has spent time in WarEra, I have personal opinions, grievances, and memorable interactions with certain players or groups.

Those opinions have not influenced moderation decisions and will continue not to influence moderation decisions.

The Future of r/warera

For the foreseeable future, the subreddit will remain:

  • Unofficial
  • Community-operated
  • Moderated
  • Independent
  • Focused on fair discourse

We will continue maintaining and improving it to the best of our ability.

If members of the community are interested in helping with those goals, feel free to contact the moderation team through modmail.

We genuinely hope WarEra.io finds the success the project deserves.

And regardless of what happens in-game, r/warera will continue to stand as an independent and fair community platform for WarEra players and followers alike.

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago, someone approached me with a theory that the moderation and banning system in this game is heavily biased. To test this out, I spent the last two weeks running a scripted botting experiment to see exactly what triggers a ban and more importantly, who gets away with it.

The Setup I created 20 bot accounts explicitly designed to test different in-game behaviors. To ensure the test was accurate and clean:

  • All 20 accounts used fresh mobile (SIM card) IPs.
  • None of the IPs were previously flagged by their system.
  • Note: I did manage to scrape their database to get an accurate list of currently banned users/IPs, as well as a list of the top referrers in the game, to build my control groups.

I divided the 20 bots into 4 distinct groups (5 accounts each):

Group A: The "VIP" Network

  • Setup: Used the absolute top referrer in the game. Placed in the exact same in-game state/country as the referrer.
  • Behavior: Leveled up to 15. The bots were scripted to tip and like the referrer's articles with a very fast 30-second to 1-minute reaction time. Donated to the country of the refferers. doing missions etc
  • Result: Survived. After two weeks, most of these accounts are above level 15. Zero bans.

Group B: The Average Player Network

  • Setup: Used random, 1 regular players as referrers. Placed in the same in-game state/country as the referrers.
  • Behavior: Exact same behavior as Group A. Doing mission, Tipped and liked the referrer's articles with a 30-second to 1-minute reaction time. doing missions etc
  • Result: Banned. Almost all accounts were banned within 1 weeks (most reached levels 10–12). Worse, the random players who referred them were also hit with a 3+ day for multi-account ban, "boosting" ban and a 300-coin fine.

Group C: The Random Mass Tippers

  • Setup: No referrers. Random regions and states.
  • Behavior: Leveled up to 10+ normally by doing missions. Once leveled, they mass-tipped and liked articles from completely 1 random players.
  • Result: Banned. All bots were banned within 1day after mass-tipped. Unfortunately, the innocent random players who received the mass tips were also banned with a 3+ day for multi-account ban, "boosting" ban and a 300-coin fine.

Group D: The "Human" Survivors (Control Group)

  • Setup: No referrers. 2 accounts shared a region/creation date; 3 were completely random.
  • Behavior: Played like very slow-grinding, casual humans. No tipping. Attacked and defended 2-5x a day. Worked and produced randomly.
  • Result: Survived. After two weeks, most of the accounts are still perfectly fine and have reached level 15+.

Based on this experiment, it’s incredibly hard to deny that the banning system is either fundamentally biased or the moderation team is entirely incapable of consistently distinguishing between bots and legitimate players.

Groups B and C were meticulously hammered by the ban waves, taking innocent players down with them. Meanwhile, Group D survived by flying under the radar, and Group A survived doing the exact same bot-like activities as Group B, simply because they were tied to a top referrer. It certainly seems like having connections with admins or being a high-profile player provides an invisible shield against bans.

Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone else has experienced this "multi-account ban", "boosting ban" as an innocent bystander!

Thank you for your attention. (insert trump memes)

Hi everyone! As I mentioned here, I’ve created a political tool ahead of the upcoming elections!

You can view the composition of the Congress, the number of voters, the presidential elections, historical data, and more for every in-game nation! You’ll find more information and a link to the tool in the linked article 😃

Welcome back to another episode of stress-testing Warera’s flawless moderation system.

Recently, the devs rolled out SMS verification presumably to stop bots. A cute attempt, but since my setup uses actual physical devices and fresh SIM cards, it didn't even slow me down. What it did show me, however, is that their new auto-ban system is still catching accounts completely at random.

3 days ago, I spun up 20+ new automated accounts. To keep things interesting, they were heavily humanized, scripted to generate random usernames, verify their numbers, complete missions, open boxes, read and like articles, make donations, and log off after a realistic 5-15 minutes of playtime.

The results? About 10 accounts got banned. But before we applaud the system for catching them, note that the other 10+ accounts running the exact same scripts are still perfectly active right now. It just proves that the ban logic isn't detecting bots at all, it's basically a coin flip relying on administrative 'vibes' and arbitrary judgment.

But honestly, the ban system is the least of their worries right now. Here’s a fun, serious fact for the community: the Warera database has already been compromised. A competent dev team usually notices when someone injects into their database, but they seem completely oblivious. Just a heads up, most of the user details, including linked emails and phone numbers, are already leaked and floating around the dark web.

Play at your own risk, folks. Their security is about as reliable as their ban hammer.
