Community Statement & Timeline

Over the last few years, many people have joined this subreddit without really knowing how it came to exist, what its goals are, or why it continues to operate independently from the official WarEra moderation structure.

We feel it is time to properly explain that.

A Personal Note from u/Gigameister

I played WarEra extensively in the past. I enjoyed the game, the politics, the drama, the rivalries, and the community interactions that naturally form around sandbox games.

Eventually, I stepped away from actively playing when the in-game environment and community became more toxic than enjoyable for me personally.

That said, I still genuinely like the concept of WarEra and continue following the game through this subreddit. It keeps me informed, entertained, and connected to the evolution of the project without requiring direct involvement in the in-game political landscape.

Ironically, not actively playing the game anymore is also one of the reasons I believe I can remain fair when it comes to moderation here.

The Timeline of r/warera

While I was still actively involved in the game and known within the community, I approached members of the WarEra administration team with a simple idea:

WarEra needed a proper Reddit presence if it wanted to grow.

At the time, the existing r/warera subreddit and its moderation structure were not representing the game particularly well, and I believed the platform had much more potential.

That suggestion was not well received by most people involved at the time.

The only meaningful support ever provided by the WarEra administration side came from ArturoJ, who supplied a few graphics and assets for the subreddit. Some of those are still being used today.

Beyond that, the work was entirely community-driven.

Over the following months, the current moderation team invested significant time and effort into rebuilding the subreddit from the ground up:

  • Restructuring moderation
  • Cleaning up the subreddit
  • Rebranding it
  • Organizing content
  • Establishing rules and standards
  • Turning it into a functional and respectable community hub

After roughly six months of consistent work, the moderation team had finally stabilized and reshaped the subreddit into what it is today.

At that point, despite all the work invested, the team approached the WarEra administration and offered to hand over the subreddit entirely, no questions asked.

That offer was declined.

Since then, the subreddit has remained independent and community-operated.

Where Things Stand Today

Since that period, r/warera has continued growing organically across every meaningful metric.

The moderation team has consistently maintained an intentionally neutral posture regarding in-game politics, conflicts, and personal disputes.

Whenever unusual situations, concerns, or potentially problematic behavior surfaced, those concerns were communicated to the official administration side. Historically, those reports were largely ignored or downplayed.

Because of this, we strongly believe that keeping the subreddit independent remains the healthiest path for the community.

Unlike in-game systems or official communication channels, this subreddit exists as a moderated but open place for discussion, criticism, memes, drama, feedback, debate, and community interaction.

Freedom of speech does not mean lack of moderation.

It means moderation without political allegiance.

On Neutrality

I have always believed that anyone moderating a community platform tied to a competitive sandbox game should ideally not be actively involved in the game’s political ecosystem.

Moderators should not have a factional interest, personal power position, or “cat in the race.”

I clearly do not.

Like anyone who has spent time in WarEra, I have personal opinions, grievances, and memorable interactions with certain players or groups.

Those opinions have not influenced moderation decisions and will continue not to influence moderation decisions.

The Future of r/warera

For the foreseeable future, the subreddit will remain:

  • Unofficial
  • Community-operated
  • Moderated
  • Independent
  • Focused on fair discourse

We will continue maintaining and improving it to the best of our ability.

If members of the community are interested in helping with those goals, feel free to contact the moderation team through modmail.

We genuinely hope WarEra.io finds the success the project deserves.

And regardless of what happens in-game, r/warera will continue to stand as an independent and fair community platform for WarEra players and followers alike.
