So someone pretended to be a journalist and sent a fraudulent email to my directors alleging bribery and corruption. Whoever sent this deliberately mis-represented facts with a clear intent to defame. I'm assuming it's someone I know who is trying to malign my reputation. I can't think of any other reason for this. Would there be a way to find out who sent this mail?

Can share the address but I assume it might be against some rules here. Essentially looking for suggestions on how to deal with such nuisance.

I’ve been taking a close look at TutaMail and TutaCalendar. I even linked my own domain and tested the calendar and email over a period of time.

There are a few things I like, but also a lot of features I’m missing that prevent me from committing to using them long-term. It’s a shame, really. I was hoping to use a German provider that also offers good, simple encryption.

But the email and calendar are simply completely outdated in terms of their feature set. Apparently, I’m not the target audience.

What I’m missing or don’t like:

CALENDAR:

• No email reminders
• No reminders for subscribed calendars
• The color of individual events (not just the calendar) cannot be changed
• The calendar cannot be shared with external parties
• Calendar cannot be edited offline
• Cannot adjust the time zone for events

MAIL:

• No automatic filter rules available
• Hides all images in the preview, instead of only tracking images
• No signature per email address
• Sometimes notifications are sent for emails that cannot be found in the inbox.

It’s a real shame, especially since it’s touted as an alternative to Big Tech. Overall, though, it’s very limited in functionality and requires a lot of compromises. Considering how long the product has been around, it’s also lagging far behind.

Some of the points I listed were announced as “coming soon” quite a while ago.

And here’s something that’s downright cheeky:

If you have a monthly subscription and upgrade during the term, you end up paying double. If you cancel during the term, your plan is downgraded IMMEDIATELY with no refund.

I have to say, that did disappoint me a bit.

Boa noite, estou tendo dificuldades para instalar e rodar o Tuta Mail Desktop no ubuntu. Segui os passos para instalação no flatpak e até consegui rodar, mas achei pouco prático ter que ficar iniciando a partir da linha de comando. Baixei o instalador disponível no site, mas quando executei chmod +x (nome_do_arquivo) e tento rodar ele dá um erro que nem no google consegui auxílio.

When using the desktop app with "Run in background" enabled, the app will spawn a tray icon to open the program from. Unfortunately, this looks very out of place on the default KDE Breeze theme, where all tray icons are usually monochrome. Tuta sticks out like a sore thumb in a, to me, really distracting way (see screenshot below):

Other apps, like KeePassXC, offer a setting to either display their default green tray icon, or a monochrome icon instead, specifically for this reason. You can see their monochrome icon next to Tuta's in the screenshot above.

I would be very happy to see a similar option in the Tuta app :)

Google is shutting down my family’s domain after ~20 years, having flagged it as commercial use. I’m planning to migrate everything to Tuta Mail with my custom domain. The setup is purely personal (e.g., accounts for my kids, like Steam), not a business, so I suspect their automated systems may have misclassified it:

Setup:

• ~12 family members (each currently has their own Gmail inbox)
• 1 custom domain (used across all accounts)
• Goal: keep things simple, private, and reasonably priced

What I’m trying to figure out:

1. Domain migration
   • Best way to move MX/DNS without losing emails during the switch?
2. **Tuta family setup (**Revolutionary)
   • Is the “family option” the right approach for multiple users?
   • Any limitations I should be aware of at ~10–15 users?
   • Any user can increase limits on their own behalf, not depending on the main account admin?
3. Email backup/migration
   • Since Tuta doesn’t support IMAP import:
     • What’s the cleanest way to preserve existing Gmail emails?
     • Google Takeout → Thunderbird → local archive?
     • Any better workflow?
4. Transition strategy
   • Did you do a gradual migration (forwarding + update accounts over time)?
   • Or hard cutover?
5. Gotchas
   • Anything you wish you knew before moving away from Gmail?

I got tonnes of the same e-mail, and the sender is the same as the receiver, which is my address. The content is classic “I record you now send me bitcoin” spam. But this time, the sender was also seen as my own email address. I’m aware of this kind of spam myself, but for someone who is digitally illiterate, this is too dangerous.

I bought a Tuta Revolutionary subscription and an own custom domain which I have added to Tuta. Yesterday I've been quite busy to add dozens of mail aliases for each and every contact/service/vendor and I'm about done setting those up, informing all services of my mail changes.

Now I notice whenever I send mail to my work emailaddress from any of my aliases, and for example to my girlfriends workmail, the mail will return undelivered in my Tuta inbox, stating:

The mailsystem said 554 Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to poor reputation of a domain used in message transfer.

Both addresses are government institutes in The Netherlands. I can receive email from my work email account.

What about this? Will I be limited using Tuta for sending mail to certain companies/institutes?

I need help please. My emails in inbox (particularly worried about active reservations in my travel folder) have suddenly disappeared this morning. I’m aware that emails over 30 days old in spam and deleted folders are purged. I’ve had a free tier account for a few months and no problems but it seems that all of my emails over 30 days old, regardless of folder, are now gone. When I tried to log into a pc with my recovery code I received an error message to try again later. Please help.

Am Abend des 18. April 2026 ist mir aufgefallen, dass die App Tuta nur noch E-Mails der letzten 30 Tage anzeigt. Je nach Ordner ist das sogar unterschiedlich. Über die Weboberfläche sind hingegen alle E-Mails sichtbar. Kann jemand dieses Phänomen nachvollziehen bzw. weiß etwas darüber?

Not sure what happened, but tuta appears to be blocked on my home connection. I have multiple family members using it as their primary email - it works fine on my phone when I use cell data but shows as offline on wifi. It looks like my home IP was blocked.

Any idea who to reach out to? Thanks

Edit: A bit more info - my router gets an IP address from DNS but no response from pings. No known issues with other websites, so it does appear to be a targeted block instead of a connectivity issue.

I'm trying out Tutanota email but I can't believe that the preview pane can't be hidden. I must be missing something. Anyway, I'm not going to use Tutanota until I can hide the Preview pane.

Please could you add a set of regex examples to your FAQ page on setting up inbox rules?

I would take you a few minutes and save users hours!

For example, I wanted to set an inbox rule for *@*.companyname.com (how I would think of it using wildcards). Your FAQ page mentions regex (never heard of it) and links to an external site that explains regex from first principles. Horror! Tried CHatGPT without luck.

Finally discovered:

If I delete my alias , can someone pick me my deleted alias after 6-12 month?
