Ticks are rampant in the NH sea coast region. These are off me and my terrier - from just a one hour walk, mostly road side.

Lost count after 67, pulled a few off me as well. They are horrible this year, and don’t give a rip about OTC tick prevention.. count your days Frontline.

They are even climbing on the outside of my window screens, the amount of them this year is absurd.

Clothing spray for ticks (Canada)

Hi all,
I’m looking to treat my field clothing with permethrin, but can’t find any in Canada (I’m in Ontario) that is explicitly for clothing.
I found a brand called Doktor Doom for horses which contains 0.5% permethrin. I’m wondering if anyone has actually used this and if it’s safe and actually effective. (I’m not a horse).
Here’s a link to it: https://www.amazon.ca/Doktor-Doom-Lasting-Residual-Insecticide/dp/B0D9HS5199

Thanks!

Repost cuz i can’t figure out how to add more pics. Looks like a deer/black legged tick? Not engorged in the least. So likely not enough time to transmit Lyme? New England so right in the hot zone.

I noticed this on a stray cat that I feed with the intention of one day taking in if I can get him to a vet. It's about half way down his back and very central (almost on spine). I don't think he is nuetered. He doesnt seem bothered by me touching it. It feels like a thick rubber balloon almost.Thanks.

Tick illnesses

This might be a long shot but anyone have experience developing certain conditions after being bitten by ticks for a period of time?

For instance, I’m always getting bit by ticks. Every week for almost a year straight. The ticks are tiny (pepper flake size). There’s no Lyme on this island, but may be pathogens. Ever since, I’ve noticed my insect bites are now healing very slow. I’ve developed more frequent headaches and nerve problems. Also have started experiencing digestive issues as well.

Anyone experience such symptoms?

I’m not asking for medical advice, rather want to hear what others have experienced from these creatures.

Which species is it?

Found two ticks on my cat this evening. I’m worried they could be Deer Ticks or carrying Lymes Disease. We’re in Maryland.

Edit: The picture is zoomed in with the flash on. They were small. I can’t think of anything to compare the size to other than a large, swollen sesame seed.

What kind of tick is this

Northern New Jersey, sorry if the pictures are bad. Found it on my ear after gardening but don’t think it latched on. About 2 mm, pictured on a square of toilet paper in a ziploc bag. Thank you in advance!

help i’m so scared of encountering the lone star tick

Im probably definitely over reacting and falling for gov propaganda but man am I scared of the lone star tick. There’s been some in my area and it’s frightening.

If anyone doesn’t know, if it bites you, you *CAN, NOT LIKELY* develop an allergy to meat and dairy.

I’m a very outdoorsy person and was very excited to get out this summer and hike, but i’m terrified. Has anyone had any experience with it or how to avoid it thx

Is this a tick?

Please help! For reference I am in North New Jersey.

This is the second bug I’ve found amongst my clothes that have been washed. I found this particular one in a set of clothes that I washed with hot water the night before. I found a third one that looked like this crawling near my dogs blanket and found what looks like a small bite on her stomach. I haven’t found anything attached to me and do not believe whatever bit her was attached as she is frequently pet on her stomach and rolls around a lot.

Looking for advice about continuing to live in a tick-prone area

I’ve been renting a cottage in rural MA in a tick-prone area all winter. Now it’s spring, I’m having second thoughts about it. Luckily I haven’t found a tick yet but the cottage is a few steps from a pond with a wooded area around it so I’m guessing it’s just a matter of time.

On the positive side, there is a gang of chickens, which I’d imagine helps to keep the tick population down. But there are only 3 of them and it’s a fairly large area that they roam.

The negatives: no washer-dryer (I go to a laundromat), 350 sq ft open-plan cottage so not possible to have a separate area for dirty clothes/mud room, and the only way to leave/come in is to walk across (short) grass. I also live alone so no partner for tick checks, and there’s also no full-size mirror or enough light to do thorough tick checks by myself. It’s basically a tiny house - the entryway doormat where I take off my shoes is a few steps from the couch.

I‘m becoming increasingly worried about ticks and find myself not feeling at ease in the cottage. Any advice would be welcome - I’m not sure if I’m being overly paranoid about wanting to move! Am I putting myself in a high-risk situation?
