51M. C4-C7 ACDF on Feb 20 of this year.
Recovery pretty well so far. A bit sore traps/neck still but from musculoskeletal standpoint feeling good and optimistic.
Radiculopathy on right gone. Left has been mildly chronic for 15 years or so. Had an acute injury on top of it which prompted ACDF. That’s maybe mildly improved. I know that’ll take time and isn’t a guarantee.
6 week X-ray looked good. Hardware stable.
My next appt is June 30 with 4 month X-ray before it.
Now….my wife and 22 yo daughter are going to Disney World mid August (just short of 6 months post op) after college graduation. Trying to see if i can/should tag along. 3 hour flight direct.
I think I’ll be ok with travelling and being sore. Just about protecting fusion in parks.
I’m swearing off major rides for good anyway. My hope is to still do the “intermediate ones”.
What do people think of doing the following at just short of 6 months?:
Magic Kingdom:
I think I’ll be ok with everything I’d do: Tron, Space, Thunder, Seven Dwarfs, Tiana, TeaCups all off limits. I think all else will be ok?
Epcot:
Guardians off limits.
Probably TestTrack too. Maybe that’s one i can still do years down the road but not now.
Don’t like Mission Space.
Frozen and Remy are the wildcards/ what do people think of these two?
Skipping Animal Kingdom.
Hollywood Studios:
These are the ones I’m mostly debating on.
Tower of Terror, Slinky, Alien Spin all off limits.
Muppet Coaster is closed.
Millenium Falcon should be ok.
The ones I’m debating are:
Mickey/Minnie, Rise of Resistance, ToyStory, Star Tours.
Those are four of my faves so they are make or break it as to whether I’d go along.
I THINK they’d all be ok? Star Tours may actually be my most concerning.
Thoughts?
Obviously I’m gonna talk to surgeon in June. Just feeling things out for now.
