Stump Query - I'm Digging One Out for Fun

Had to remove a large ash due to EAB and decided that I needed a task to keep sane so I've split all the wood and have been digging the stump out. I've been putting in a few hours here and there when time permits and have been wondering what the likelihood is that someone might be interested in the stump once it's removed.

I am not asking from a financial perspective, I don't expect anyone to pay for it. My question is more so whether or not there would be interest in something like this out there, as I imagine there aren't many people digging stumps out like this... And if so, where I could go about finding someone locally who might want it. I imagine it could be pressure washed and milled if someone had a mind to do so, the soil is all sandy and I've found fewer rocks than I have fingers on one hand during the entire dig.

If it's just junk and nobody in their right mind would have any interest in something like this, no biggy! Just figured I'd see what this community thought before I finished pulling it out and sent it off as waste.

Thanks for any insight or interest!

Do you log your own logs as well?...If so how do you do it on steep inclines?

We are trying to bring out over 30 red oak trees, they was up rooted during hurricane helene... all is over 70ft tail. Only trying to bring out 12ft at a time.

The all are on a steep incline that is unwalkable...our tractors automatically just lose traction and slide to the bottom...

Personally I am thinking we need something with a track..

Was wondering if sawmill owners small-mid would like an sawmill inventory app that can track your inventory from green to Dry Kilns to shipping. Can print your own tickets with app and it can then track via scanned said ticket or you can man enter existing ticket info once and save to app then move around from one location to another in app easily, while it records location history of movements. Much more if anyone is interested, just been working in sawmill industry for most my life and thought I'd try to build something for the people doing the job. I develop this from ground up thinking about experience of the people on the floor using it, like myself, so least friction as possible, least typing as possible.

Woodmizer Lt15 wide or norwood? Which and why? Are their better alternatives?

Im down to buying a woodmizer LT15 wide or its equivalent of a norwood. My price range is roughly $15,000. Which one and why.? Or do think i should consider another brand? So far it's woodmizer due to customer service. But before I pull the trigger I would love to hear yalls thoughts. Especially how great success you've had with other brands.

Hello all! I was finally able to find an opening and fully dive in.., with my HM130Max arriving in a couple of days.

However, between just the base mill, mill-shed + mill foundation, winches/pulleys/hoisting systems, and solar-kiln + foundation; my budget has become stretched out thinner than angel hair spaghetti.

Was wondering if y'all had any solid recommendations for an affordable pre-cut laser, metal detector, and moisture meter. I want them to *actually* work, yet i need to be able to obtain them lol.

Lmk as well if there are any other essential items I should be looking for to make life easier.

My buddy just finished setting up his Woodmizer LX50 Start. We are having an issue with our first log. We have it pressed against the side supports and clamped in, but it is hitting the saw lade housing. We don't know how to move the log more to the center and still have it clamped down. Please help us.

Taking down a massive tulip poplar and will try out the Alaskan sawmill. Any advice greatly appreciated! Clone 070 and an Alaskan sawmill. Might need a bigger bar and ripping chain. Best places to source?

So I have been struggling to move logs to the mill because my tractor is to limited. So a friend of mine gave me this log hauler, now I’m going to be able to move them right to the mill no problem.

Ok, the weather was finally nice enough to get after it. After swapping out a new blade because I hit some metal (yes metal detector is next on the list) I tried to cut some slabs and the blade keeps climbing up. It’s a brand new blade and I have tried a bunch of different tension runs. Any thoughts on the next troubleshooting method? It immediately starts sliding up after it hits the log

Hello all,

I’m currently looking at milling some 7x13 stair treads out of white oak and was wondering the best way of cutting my logs. Should I

Box heart? (Potential for cracks?)

Box heart with underside relief cut to the pith? (Potential for cupping?)

Cut above and below the pith? (Potential for cupping?)

The treads will be used outdoors over a rock base as the entry to a timber frame pavilion.

Hey guys. I have an old R.R. Howell no 3 circular saw mill and I'm having some issues getting it going. I out the whole thing together and tried cutting a log. It was a fairly old and dry ash log, fairly large and the blade deflected and wouldn't cut. I found that the teeth were very worn so I sharpened all the teeth and it still wants to deflect while its cutting. Although the first cut it would deflect away from the log and after I sharpend it wants to deflect into the log.

I actually snapped the pto shaft last night when it deflected into the log and got stuck.

I've been looking for videos or info on adjustments for these but I havent really found anything. Does any one know of any "how to" videos for setting these up? Alot of the videos I find are just guys running them without much info behind anything. Thanks!
