Update to 5x in Seattle WA USA
I got home from a long weekend and as I was driving to run some errands noticed a new to me cloud icon on the screen! I plugged into a L2 charger that I normally like and checked out the information. Not going to update until I get home because I don’t feel like wandering around here for the next hour and a half.
My car updated to 5.0.10 today, I was expecting something different....
2022 PPP
With all the excitement I thought there was a diffrent UI or something. The truth I really didn't have a problem with how the car worked before and it seems to still be working pretty well.
(It would be nice if the rear camera never flaked out)
Polestar 2 (2020 DMLR) with 87k miles / 91% SOH — realistic to keep until 14 years old?
I’m considering buying a Polestar 2 Dual Motor Long Range from December 2020, currently at around 140,000 km (~87,000 miles) with a reported battery SOH of 91%. On paper that seems pretty solid for its age and mileage, but I’m trying to think long-term rather than just the next couple of years.
My situation is a bit different from the average EV buyer: I’d only be driving about 15,000 km (~9,300 miles) per year, and ideally I’d want to keep the car until it’s roughly 14 years old. So this isn’t about short-term ownership or flipping — it’s about durability, battery degradation, and whether this platform can realistically hold up over time.
I’m aware of the usual concerns (battery aging, drivetrain wear, potential costs outside warranty), but I’d really like input from people who understand real-world degradation curves, high-mileage EV ownership, or specifically Polestar 2 experience.
Main question:
Is it realistic to expect this car to remain reliable and usable for another ~9 years under these conditions, or am I underestimating long-term risks?
Curious to hear both optimistic and critical takes — especially from owners or EV tech folks.
My update came through today too!
Notification hit my phone right after I arrived home from work. Coincidence? In Chicago. Installing now...
Propulsion System
Hi all,
Facing my first issue with my PS2. A propulsion issue. Yesterday I was making my way to a charger when I went into turtle mode at about 8%. I made it and used a Tesla supercharger to charge successfully. Later I used a charge point 62kw charger and the vehicle wouldn’t take it. I was about to make it home and it’s charging fine on level 1. I got in the car just now to test it out at another fast charger and received a propulsion system error. Jerkiness on from the rear end too… Now ironically, the car has also alerted to the new 5 update being available. I’m going to push the update thru and hope for the best…
2024+ LRSM in the wet (PNW)
I've looked here, the other Polestar sub and on the Polestar forum but haven't found this asked so here it goes. People who live in rainy areas, how is the 2024 rear wheel drive only treating you? I am in the Pacific Northwest and am looking at pulling the trigger on 2024 single motor. I currently have an i3 so I am used to driving that everywhere in the rain/wet. With decent tires I have not had issues. I was wondering what others experience has been with the LRSM RWD setup? How's the traction? Any regrets on not getting the Dual Motor?
New update, Montreal, Qc
Any fellow Quebecers out there? :)
Have to say, I'm loving the positivity for the P2 on here!
I'm taking delivery of my Polestar 2 next week and I started to wonder from time to time if I'd made the right choice during the wait for the cars arrival.
But seeing the odd post popup on my reddit home screen with positive comments makes me feel like I've made a good choice and makes me even more excited for next week!
Just wanted to share that. Excited to take delivery! :)
P.S. I come from a Cupra Born V3 for the past 4 years.
Trim piece falled off?
When I parked my Polestar 2 today I suddenly heard a sound of a piece of metal falling in between plastic elements in the passenger side dash for 1-2 seconds. After I parked, I found this little thing on the carpet on the passenger side. Not under the seat, but further in the food well. I can't find anything that looks like it's falling off, but several of the plastic trim parts seem wobbly. I suppose some/all of them were like this from the beginning though.
I think it is something from inside the dash, based on the duration of the "falling sound".
Anyone have a clue of what this is?
Recirculating Air
Anyone have their air con recirculation setting turn off every time you park the car after the new update?
Before I set the recirculation to on and didn’t have to touch it again. Now every time I go to use the car I need to turn it back on
What a great car. Nothing more needs to be said.
Polestar 2 Service Advice
Hello, All.
By now, I think most of us are aware of the creaking suspension noise that many of the Launch Edition Polestar owners deal with. Under warranty, and during various visits, I've had Polestar Charlotte repair or replace the bearings, bearing mounts, and axle shafts/hubs. Nevertheless, the noise either persists or returns a few months later. Now that I'm out of warranty, I'm having a difficult time finding a shop in my area that knows anything about Polestars. Even some specialized suspension shops don't want to touch it.
My question to this forum is - have any of you taken your Polestar to a nationwide repair shop (e.g., Firestone, Pep Boys, etc.) for issues? If so, which one? Are any better for suspension than others? At this point, I don't want to use Polestar Charlotte anymore because it's become obvious they can't diagnosis the issue properly. Not to mention, they're 3 hours away.
Thanks in advice for your time. :-)
Extended warranty
Hey polestars what costs are the extended warranty for Uk and Ireland If anyone has the info? And has it been worthwhile for any that took it out?
I bought a 23 reg lrdm recently but it was out of polestar warranty, garage gave me a generic warranty for 12 months but looking at it it’s not specific for EVs only ICE cars so thinking of getting a year or two extended.

Thought I’d add to the newbie pictures.
MY22 Dual motor plus pack.
Loving it other than my current coolant warning. Topped up as others have suggested we shall see how it goes.
FitCamX Doesn’t Fit
I ordered the FitcamX from Amazon a few weeks ago, and they contacted me before hand to send pictures of the mirror and confirm the make and model and year of my car (I sent the last two images you see above), it’s a 2025 Polestar 2. When I got the cam and scanned the QR code it took me to the Porsche video which wasn’t a good omen, and when I took off the mirror housing and tried to fit the cam, it doesn’t fit and the harness also has the wrong pins.
I’ve gone back and forth with FitCamX over the last week sending countless photos including stock photos of the correct cam, pics showing the pins are incompatible and images showing the cam clearly doesn’t fit this mirror housing.
First pic is the cam they sent with my mirror housing, second is inside the car showing the cables are incompatible, 3rd is the cam again with model number, 4th is a video still of the correct cam for a Polestar 2, so is the 5th pic and the last two pics are just of the mirror housing installed in the car that the also asked for.
They are still insisting this is the correct cam.
Can someone put me out of my misery and let me know is this is correct. I’m probably just going to return it via Amazon anyway, but if I’m wrong I’d love to know.
5.0.10 has made my 2021 perfect
This update changed it all. I loved the car front the get go but just got annoyed and made justifications as a fan boy.
Now with this update it is acting like it should have been from the factory.
Other than lack of start stop button (I know play button exits but it’s a stupid idea that I have to start music to allow my passenger to roll down their window if I leave the car) this car is a 10/10 for me.
Good buy?
Hi all,
I am looking to get a 2023 LR SM Polestar 2. It has both the Pilot and Plus pack. It has 70k miles, but full history and looks in really good shape overall. Price is £15k. I am not sure of the battery SOH but with 90% battery it’s showing 275 miles of range.
Should I be wary of the higher mileage or would it be an alright buy?
