Eating Out as Vegan in NYC is becoming boring and frustrating.

I made this as a thought in response to another comment I made on here. With the closing of a lot of original, great vegan restaurants here in New York City, eating out is starting to be….not fun anymore. First, it’s getting to a point where your only options are those CityRoots restaurants (Willow, Sentir…) which in my opinion, half of them are overpriced and extremely underwhelming taste wise. Or you have to comb through non-vegan restaurants in search of a vegan option that’s not the Impossible and Beyond burger. Which leads me to my next point….

A lot of these restaurants and food spots, even some of the vegan ones that are left, simply use the Impossible and Beyond burger. No house made patty. No creativity whatsoever. Hell, some of these places can’t even be bothered to put seasoning on the patty. Not to mention the PRICE. I’m always irritated whenever I see the Impossible or Beyond on the menu and it’s the same price or even more expensive than its meat counterpart. How?? Why??

It’s just not worth it anymore. I loved restaurant hopping and trying new dishes but now it’s become a chore just to find a decent place, and then praying you won’t be disappointed by the quality of the food, and the price. Anybody else feel this way? I fell off with cooking at home for about a while now 😂 but honestly this is the motivation I need to get creative in the kitchen again. And if there are any hidden vegan spots in any of the five boroughs that still exist that maybe I don’t know about, please drop them below so I can check them out and support. Thank you for coming to my Ted rant. :)

Hello! I am a sociology major and for my qualification work I investigate veganism and its connections to morality. If you are vegan, you can help me by completing the survey in Google Forms.

Your answers are anonymous and will be used for academic purposes only. Email address is not required to complete the form. You can skip any question if you do not want to answer it.

Questions are mostly about morals (for instance, justice or respect for traditions) and aspects of veganism (motivation, the importance of it in everyday life). It shouldn't take you more than 10-15 minutes to complete the survey. I truly appreciate your help, so thank you for your cooperation!

Hi! Im graduating grad school next week and and am trying to find a good lunch spot for after the ceremony that has both vegan and non-vegan options. The ceremony is at carnegie hall, so ideally someplace we could walk over to. But also open to downtown options bc that’s where we will be heading back to!

Hi! Any recommendations for birthday celebration. Open on Mondays

Hi! Looking for recommendations for a vegan-friendly or full vegan birthday celebration spot that’s open on Mondays. My mom’s birthday falls on Mother’s Day, but we’d rather celebrate the next day to avoid the crowds. A few places I originally wanted to go are closed Mondays, so I’d love any suggestions. Thank youuu!

I was distraught to be in the theater district yesterday and find this out. I asked what's going on and they're currently fundraising to try to reopen. Hope they can pull through. Those rolls and cookie dough have become very important to me 😭. If they come back and you haven't tried them yet, their baked goods are AMAZING. The ghost kitchen aspect made me hesitate to try them at first but it's quick and easy to pick up your order.

Seeing a show at the Metropolitan Opera mid-week, and dining beforehand with non-vegans and one vegan-ish person who will only eat plain pasta/marinara or, an Impossible burger/Beyond burger. Is there a non-vegan place like this walking distance?
