Good day trips from Nottingham?

I've Googled, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

Me and my sister love a good adventure day, we both don't drive so we've done Heights of Abraham, Crich tramway museum and more recently ikea on the bus.

I'm looking for something fun to go on the last Saturday in may as its my birthday weekend and we want to do a fun adventure day. So anywhere that's either an activity or museum or just something fun that's doable in a day on public transport?

Thanks in advance

Best sushi in Nottingham?

So i started eating fish again a few weeks back after years (almost a decade) of veganism and vegitarianism. My favourite food use to be sushi, and whilst I loved Bonzai, I was kind of disappointed when I treated myself to their sushi. Just didn't taste of much and they were a bit too heavy with the mayo. I actually kinda preferred their veggie sushi.

So, where's the best spot to get decent sushi?

Does anyone know any city centre restaurants who have any Monday deals/cheap meals?

I’ve gotta hang around for just over an hour after work and hoping for somewhere cheap to eat

I genuinely love Nottingham and see myself settling here for life :)

I studied at Uni of Notts and have been around the city for almost 3 years now. I’ve got cousins in other cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester etc, and every time I go visit them, I end up liking Nottingham even more.

There’s just something about this place. It’s got the right mix of calm and energy without feeling overwhelming. Every time I spend a few days elsewhere, I find myself wanting to come back here.

Whenever I see a role based in Nottingham, my eyes light up and I apply, even if I’m not a perfect match. I’m currently working in London in a role that doesn’t really require me to be there, but most of the opportunities aligned to my experience seem to be in other cities.

I’ve even noticed this weird thing where if I get a call from a recruiter about roles in London or Bristol, I probably come across less enthusiastic than I should… but mention Nottingham or even Derby, and I’m immediately far more engaged. Not intentional, just where my head’s at.

So, trying a slightly different approach.

My background is mainly in project and facilities management, with a strong overlap into estates and delivery. Alongside that:• Delivering capital works, refurbishments, and asset replacement across live sites

• Managing multiple projects with full ownership of plans, RAID, dependencies and reporting
• Strong CDM-aligned delivery, RAMS, PTW and compliance in operational environments
• Working closely with layouts, floor plans and space utilisation (AutoCAD exposure)
• Managing contractors, procurement, performance and cost control (with proven savings)
• Asset registers, O&M handover, and PPM readiness for facilities operations
• Stakeholder coordination across design teams, suppliers, and business users

Not trying to jump into something completely unrelated, just keen to find something relevant in Nottingham (or around) where I can actually build something long-term.

And if nothing else, at least I’ve said it out loud how much I rate this city.

If anyone’s got any pointers, ideas, or even just feels the same way about Nottingham, would be good to hear 👍

First bank holiday weekend in the UK

We’ve just moved to Nottingham from Australia (27m and 26f) and are planning our first bank holiday weekend.

What are some options for us either locally or for a weekend trip? We have a car so can travel.

We are outdoorsy, both have gravel bikes and want to see some proper english countryside/villages with pubs.

What are some ideas, and what is everyone doing for their bank holiday weekend?

I want to plan a little getaway including some nature, and stoner friendly site/facility

Anyone got any suggestions? Caravan site, cabins, anything really. Ideally away from others so we dont bother anyone, and somewhere connected to enough nature/trials you dont need to drive everywhere.

Id love to have a place thats a safe haven for stoners, but even if its just secluded that will work. Thanks in advance

Thanks for helping me and my drunk friend

After leaving Pit & Pendulum last night, my mate had to lay on the pavement and be sick, lots of people came by to make sure all is above board and that he's okay. Couple lads stayed and helped us til I could get us a taxi home. Thank you, whoever you are 🩷

Sorry if this is off-topic 😅 I don't lurk here much

Anyone up for a spontaneous chat near Nottingham Council House?

I’m currently near Nottingham Council House in the city centre and thought—why not see if anyone’s around for a quick chat ?

Nothing formal, just a relaxed meet, talk about anything—life, tech, work, random stuff. I’m into data/AI and startups, but happy to chat about anything.

Cheers !!

House or Fraser

No crazy post from me tonight but a serious question, does anybody know what the House of Fraser unit is becoming?

First time in the City Centre today in donkeys years so was surprised to see Timberland shops going, Claires is going and that the House of Fraser site hasn't been occupied yet.

If you don't know maybe suggest something you would like to see there?

I went through the nottingham mental health system as a man in my 30s last year and one of the staff that came out for home visits was coming to the sofa and giving me hugs. I left the room as a polite way to stop it, then a few months later they'd swiped me on a date app. Did they break policy?

Also their tops were getting lower cut each time they came for a home visit to check on me... Obviously I just wanted to recover, so don't plan to chase this up or complain, but I just wanted to air this.

Game of Kerby?

Was reminiscing about my younger days and loved playing Kerby, but since I’ve moved away from my parents (which lived in front of a great Kerby Spot) into my own place which has no great Kerby Spots! I was wondering if anyone would be down for a game or 5 of Kerby? Just looking to make new mates and just find that joy again of not worrying about anything apart from shouting “CAAAAR!”

Let me know if people are down? Maybe we can make this a sport again! ReviveKerby2026

Clothing for a 2-3 year old

Before I donate, is there anyone in need of clothes for 2-3 year old (boy). Mostly 2-3, possibly some 18-24 in the pile. They’re not anything fancy - mostly Tesco or Primark, with a small spattering of Zara or Lindex.
