A little "spring cleaning" for these beauties! 💅🏼

Took down a little length, switched up the shape, and spent the weekend doing hydration treatments (current blend is castor, jojoba, and black seed oils), and my nails are feeling so much better! I'm back to a more rounded shape, even though I was really enjoying the more squared look.

I was noticing some surface damage towards the ends of my free edges, and taking down some of the length helped get rid of a lot of it. It's kind of like getting a hair cut to remove dead ends. My nails feel so strong right now, and I love it!

Both sets of pictures were taken shortly after removing the gloves. Nothing on 'em except oil, oil, and more oil!

Swipe to see the before/after, plus 2 bonus GIFs of the difference!

best nail strengthener/hardener to keep natural nails long?

PLEASE READ: I know that the “best” thing to do is oiling nails because keeping them flexible is what helps prevent them from breaking. I have tried this myself before and yes, I have been able to grow my nails long with oiling.

However, the bending/flexible nail feeling is a sensory nightmare for me. It feels so gross every time my nail bends. I want to know if there is a nail strengthener or hardener ya’ll use to keep nails NATURAL and long? (not gel not acrylics)

I also know there’s this claim that they make your nails brittle in the long run but I wonder if there are some that are actually good for your nails or a specific routine that might help not get brittle nails.

Thank you in advance!

One week and a few days off semi-permanent polish!!!

I’m very excited because I’ve tried going back to the classics several times before, but each time I got home from the salon, my nails would break almost immediately. Now it really feels like I’m at the start of my natural nail journey, and it seems like I got lucky this time, because even though they’re not very strong yet, they don’t look brittle, which is a good sign!

The only product I’ve used so far is the 8 in 1 treatment from Eveline Cosmetics. I also keep them hydrated with the cuticle oil from Panier des Sens, and keep them as short as possible until they become strong enough!

8 week progress post

I am blown away and so grateful that I’ve been documenting my nail healing journey in photos since the beginning, and for this sub. I am truly loving my natural nails and shocked at how infrequently they’re already chipping/snagging/peeling!

Using: OPI Nail Envy, sally hansen cuticle remover once a week, glass nail file, and jojoba oil 3-10 times per day (whenever I’m nearby it and have a moment).

1 year progress!

Glad I stopped doing extensions, my nails used to break so easily and be chippy all the time. Almost an year out of them! Now they are so much better. Natural all the way!

cuticle issues and bed growth!

I’ve been many, many years without biting my nails and have had lots of nail bed growth but I would like them even longer if possible! I do have a picking issue and often shred my cuticles. What would you all suggest to help with more nail bed growth and cuticle softening? I do know that part of this is me breaking the habit of picking.
