Golden Dose: how did you get your syringes?

I have three golden doses sitting in the fridge from my recently finished pens but I can’t work up the courage to walk into the chemist and ask for 1ml insulin syringes 4-6mm knowing the chemist is likely to assume I’m trying to extract the golden dose.

For those who have done this, what was your experience? Did you get questioned about why you wanted them? Did they hand them over? Did you have to shop around to different chemists? Which chemist provided them? Was it one of the big chains like Priceline and Chemist Warehouse? And how long were the needles? I use 4mm on the pen and am hoping I don’t need to compromise with the syringe.

Up until now I’ve heard that chemists are reluctant to sell the syringes as Lilly reps have encouraged them not to. All online stores seem to be sold out except for Amazon which sells them but states they’re not sterilised or not for medical use.

This medication is not cheap and the thought of wasting 3 doses because I can’t get my hands of the syringes is the worst!

Knowing other people’s experiences would help me know what to say and what to expect! Thank you all!

Brain adjusting to new portions

How are people going with getting their minds to adjust to less food?

For example, I ordered pizza online tonight (a bit of a treat). And some garlic bread.

Now, I used to be able to eat both in one sitting. While ordering, my brain was like "oh yeah, I'll eat half of each tonight and the other half tomorrow".

Except... I had three slices of pizza and was exceedingly full 🫣🙄. Didn't even touch the garlic bread.

To be clear - this is a great result from a nutritional point of view...but bothers me from a financial perspective 🤣

Long-term plateau, and still have significant amount of weight to lose.

Hi all, feeling pretty dejected and wanted to see if anyone has faced something similar.

I have been on Mounjaro since the end of November 2024, weighing 99 kilos. I lost weight within the first 6 months which was so great! However, I have been stuck in a plateau for about 9 months straight now. I currently weigh 81 kilos and have been stalled at this weight for an incredibly long time. My doctor upped my prescription to 12.5 about 2 months ago, and even that seems to not be helping.

I am pleased that I HAVE lost weight, but even my doctor is finding it odd that my body weight is stuck. I am careful with my food intake, I make sure I have protein everyday, exercise at home using my treadmill and try to keep up with my water intake. I see all the inspiring posts with people being so successful after a year, and I am wondering what on earth I am doing wrong?
Has anyone else been stuck in a plateau for this long, even when increasing the dosage? After being on the medication for almost 18 months, it is feeling pretty depressing to not be at least in the 70s by now (and devo about the $$$)

Long term user experiencing new symptoms

I've been on Mounjaro since July 2025. 114kgs down to 80kgs. Slowly worked my way up to 7.5mg and I've been on that dose for over 3 months. The last 2 weeks I've had horrible gas, vomiting, sulfur burps and diarrhoea. Nothing has changed in my diet or dosing or life. I've only experienced these symptoms once before from a specific food that I stopped eating.

Any advice? I'm considering stopping all together because of how horrible it is, I'm just lucky I can wfh most days.

Help me!!

Current market check: still getting the golden dose pens?

For those who have filled a script in the last 2 weeks, did you get the new pen or the old one with the golden 5th dose still in it?

I am 2 weeks off finishing my current pen and wondering if I should buy my new pen now rather than wait and risk getting the new pen.

Let me know your experience out there! Which chemist and city/suburb and did you get the new pen or the old?

The New Mounjaro Pen Design Says Everything About Modern Pharma

Imagine the meeting behind the new Mounjaro pens.

“People figured out there’s still medication left after the official doses.”

“Any safety issue?”

“Not really.”

“Dose accuracy problem?”

“Nope.”

“Alright then, redesign the pen with a bigger plunger so nobody can reach the leftover medication.”

Funny how fast things get engineered when there’s a risk of patients getting a few extra drops they already paid for.

Health Insurance

Has anyone had any luck asking their GP to put each dose on it's own script for health insurance claiming purposes?

I have a high limit for non pbs pharmaceuticals, but they only pay a maximum $75 per script. If I could get each dose (so a week) on each script and just put in 4 scripts to get the pen I would be able to claim basically the whole thing back.

I saw someone else said they did this but can't seem to find any one else who has.

New kwikpen (without GD) mega thread?

With the roll out of the new kwikpens that don't have the "fifth dose" confirmed in Australia, I was wondering if we could have a mega thread that confirms which states and stores still have stock of the old pens?

I know we've seen the new 15mg pens in Sydney and southern NSW, all expiry 10/27, but have we seen any in other states and other strengths yet?

The 15mg I got from chemist warehouse in Perth 10 days ago (expiry 08/27) still had the GD. I'm thinking about going to my GP for a new script to see if I can sneak another old style pen before they hit my store if it's not too late already...

Let me know if you've filled yours recently and got the new or old!

UPDATE 12 May:

So far we're seeing 15mg in central and southern NSW and Brisbane. One report of a 10mg in Melbourne but 3 weeks ago so would like a confirmation pic before saying for sure.

At least 5 Chemist Warehouse stores in Perth only have new 15mg pens in Perth.

If you call up the Chemist Warehouse before you go in they're happy to tell you the expiry of the stock they have and they don't ask why you're asking lol

How can you tell new pens from old pens?

The new pens have a big black spacer under the grey plunger. You can see it without using the pen at all.

Question for the ladies...

It's been about 20 years since I've been the size I am now and the last week I've found my bra underwires really uncomfortable against my ribs, like they're poking me all the time. It's particularly when I'm sitting down, not so much standing.

I don't remember having this problem when I was smaller, but is this a weight loss thing?

My bra does fit btw, I just got a new one a month ago in my new size and it's the same style I had before just a band size down and seems to fit well other than this. I am large chested if that makes any difference (16E)

24 weeks in and now im getting uncontrollable food noise and stomach pain.

So im around the week 24 mark. I have been on 7.5mg dose from week 6. Started at 125kg now down to 101~103kg and the scales havent moved for the last 4 weeks.

The last 2 weeks I have been getting hungry all the time, like tonight had dinner at 630pm and by 930pm im starving, normally I would eat and be satisfied but now, its this hunger that cant be turned off and im over eating again. I even in the mornings ill wake up felling nauseous with hunger and in pain from it as well.

And in the last week every time I eat anything as soon as the food reaches my stomach I have pain, sharp stabbing pain. Only when food or drink get to the stomach. It hurts for a bit then it dies down, oh yea and getting reflux like crazy

Under 100 club!

Started at 124kg on January 30th, definitely didn't think I'd get under 100 in May but here we are!

Still somewhere between 10-20kg's to go, I'm working on a body fat % goal of around 20 rather than a weight goal but damn it's good to see the scale under 100kg.

35, male, 178cm

What an incredible change this drug has made to my life ❤️

How are people eating enough to sustain nutrients? Muscle twitches

Hey all, loving my MJ journey but since bumping up to 3.75 about 5 weeks ago I’ve been getting muscle twitches. I put it down to not eating enough as I am eating less than on the 2.75. Told MWLC and they advised to go on a multi vitamin and magnesium, and I’ve been having hydralight every day/second day. I’ve been doing these.

Not sure if it’s a side effect now of MJ (didn’t have it on 2.5) or if it’s lack of food. In which case… I dont know what I should be focusing on eating more of if I’m already full? Maybe bowl of vegetables or salad to graze on during day? If I keep eating I’ll be sick.

Was wondering if anyone else had this same side effect and what they did to fix

Started Jan ‘25, stayed on 2.5mg till Aug ‘25 then up to 3.75mg and back down to 2.5mg Dec ‘25 to maintain every fortnight. Have decided I want to drop another couple kgs so back up to 3.75mg 2 weeks ago and then I’ll go back on maintenance.
I thought I’d be the person it doesn’t do anything for. Can’t quite believe it’s helped so much. Changed my life

Early new user but suffering hunger no suppression?

Started the program last week 2.5 and done1 full week, Sunday to Sunday. 2nd dose yesterday. No real side effects to speak off. In first week I didn't eat any less or more and plenty of water as recommended (2l-4l/day). Though I'm workingv12 hours a day in construction and half the week last week was hungry as, but essentially eating the same as before I begun, but is a healthy diet and low sugar.

Today I struggled hard with hunger cravings... I didn't give in and had an Apple and nuts when craving food, but so far I have not really had any hunger suppression to speak of..

Anyone experienced this or have any suggestions to why my appetite not feeling suppression?

Example of Eating

Hi All day 2 for me. I’m trying to understand what an average eating day may look for you? I’m hoping to focus on intuitive eating - with a side of focusing on the right foods.

I’ve seen ppl consuming eggs and cottage cheese for breakfast but what else liek wha does your day look like - I know injecting days are harder to eat but maybe like a normal day

12 Month Results

12 months on Mounjaro today!

I was soooo close to 30kg but 850g isn't something I'm going to beat myself up about.

So close to that "normal" weight range too! If you're just starting the journey, stick with it!

106.6kg to 77.45kg

Just thinking...

I'm still out here deciding if mounjaro is for me!! Am I losing weight? Yes!! But that's probably from having the liquid browns caused by the jab.

I think I'm almost better off eating 5 day old Chinese takeaway which will be cheaper and give me the same experience I'm having now 😋

I posted on here before about my appointment with MWLC.

I got denied sadly. The NP was very kind about it but suggested I try other approaches like therapy to help manage overeating.

Apparently my BMI is healthy 159 cm 67kg. Which I last I checked was overweight (26.5)

Should I try again? If I do, should it be with someone else at MWLC or a different clinic?

I’ve seen mentions of downscale on this sub. Do you think they might prescribe me?

Thank you in advance 🙏

EDIT: I don’t think I will pursue a prescription again. I will chat to my GP about if there are other options for managing my binge eating/ helping me get to a healthier weight. Thank you everyone for your insight.

I had a pair of jeans I used to love. Put them aside years ago “for the day I finally lose enough weight to wear them again”. Pulled them out the other day and I missed the window. They’re too big now!

Also I tried on like 5 jumpers today and they all look ridiculously big on me. I’m talking the armpits are hanging down several inches, the shoulder seams are hanging down my arms. Everything just looks wrong. These are good problems to have of course, but I wasn’t budgeting for having to buy all new jumpers for winter. I figured I could get away with the oversized look, but nope. There’s no getting away with these!

Shopping for clothes

I have slimmed down to the point that I need some new clothes. I thought that shopping for the new, smaller me would be easy. I was so wrong! When larger it is easy to go into a couple of shops and know what fits and suits (when you have to, not when you want to). When I went shopping I was overwhelmed by the sizing (was an 18-20, now a 12-16), styles, cuts etc. Also there are so many options. I only wanted a few tops, t shirts and a jumper but struggled. T shirts were boxy, short or expensive, jumpers short, fitted or bulky. Definitely not a problem I expected.

2.5mg, starting weight 107kg, current weight 86kg since November.
