PLEASE WEAR A HELMET

Posting here because the regular motorcycle page removed my post. I was in a bad accident, and by a miracle, I am still alive. I cannot stress enough that the only reason I am still alive is because I was wearing my helmet. If not, I would have never made it home to my son. Please please please please please wear your helmets guys. If anybody is in NYC and cannot afford one, please reach out and I will help you get one.

Seeking advice/experiences

Seeking advice/experiences

Hi fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, I am looking to buy some new boots, which is proving to be difficult due to my shoe size being EU 48, but I found these at a reasonable price (275€). Are they any good?

I've been searching for a while now for good racing boots, since a lot of companies don't produce any in my size and when they do, they sell out very quickly...

So, any recommendations? And are these an option I should take without worries or is the brand good? I have not owned anything from them yet, soooo...

(SIDI ST AIR boots)

Rev'it! Valve H2O Jacket Review

I haven't seen many reviews of this jacket, so I thought I would offer my experience.

The Rev'it! Valve H2O jacket went on sale some time ago, but was quite expensive. Eventually, it went clearance on ebay. Still expensive, but I thought it could replace a couple others in my closet, so I took the plunge.

This is an "all season" touring jacket. It comes with a liner that is pretty warm. I rode in 40 degree weather with just a t-shirt underneath and it was all good. It also has a removable neck gaiter, and there are vents on the chest and the back that open and close with a zip. This is the most relaxed fit jacket of my many Rev'it! race jackets. I didn't quite know how to feel about this when I first put it on. But on a recent trip, I realized that the fit plays a crucial role in this jacket being "all season".

I took a trip this weekend. 3 hours one way, on the highway, on a bike with no wind screen. It was 80 degrees out. I was worried that I would bake in this full leather jacket, but the chest vents circulated air very well, and air even traveled well through the sleeves. This is why the looser fit is good. It wasn't great being at stop lights, but when the weather got a little colder as night fell, I closed the chest vents while riding and the jacket immediately kept me warm.

Now, no gear is tested until it gets rained on. On my 3 hour trip home, I got caught in a storm. I have waterproof jackets. But none of them are as breathable as this thing. Over the course of this trip, I was cool in hot weather, warm in cool weather, and dry in the rain. I'm seriously considering taking this jacket on my summer road trip through the northern states.

My conclusion: I think that, at 600 dollars, this jacket is more than worth the price. It is probably worth the 1000 that it was originally listed at. If you have been considering this jacket, I would say that you should go ahead and buy it.

Helmet Fit

is this helmet too big? I'm a brand new rider and this is a Shoei RF-SR. I bought it at cycle gear 3 weeks ago and the employee there fitted me into this 2XL. I was barely even able to get the single XL on and when I did I was chewing on the inside of my cheeks it was so tight. My head measures just over 23 in and according to Shoei, that puts me at the bottom end of an XL. I'm concerned by the amount of head movement though.

Major buffeting and blurred vision with A-stars R10 on a Panigale V4S (2018). Need advice!

everyone,

I recently upgraded from an AGV K1 S to the Alpinestars Supertech R10, expecting a massive leap in aerodynamics and stability. I’m riding a 2018 Ducati Panigale V4S with what looks like an aftermarket "Sport" windscreen (not the tiny stock one, but not a full Double Bubble either).

Here is the problem: Once I hit 220 km/h (135 mph) and above, the helmet starts performing like a budget lid.

• It feels like it’s lifting my head up constantly.

• I’m getting major vibrations (buffeting) that actually blur my vision.

• After a fast run, I have serious neck pain.

The weird part? My old K1 S felt more stable, and a friend's mid-range Shark (touring-oriented) felt much better at 250 km/h on an R1.

Some context:

• The helmet is a size M and it fits very tight on my cheeks—I can barely move it with my hands when it's strapped on.

• I’ve been told the R10 is extremely specialized for a "full tuck" position. I try to stay low, but even then, it feels unstable.

• I’m just starting to play with the A-Head adjustment system (tilting it backward), but I haven't found the sweet spot yet.

My questions:

  1. Is the R10 just too sensitive to the airflow coming off the Panigale's screen?

  2. Could my windscreen be creating "dirty air" that hits the rear spoiler the wrong way?

  3. Has anyone else experienced this "cheap helmet" feel with a $1,000+ top-tier racing lid?

I really want to love this helmet, but right now, it’s literally a pain in the neck. Any advice on setup or body position would be appreciated!

The RST Tractech Evo 5 carries CE AAA — the highest possible garment certification under EN 17092. The REV'IT Quadratic is CE AA, but the more safe one is cheaper….i don’t understand. Any pros/cons I am not considering? Both are level 2 armor standard

Half Gauntlet Glove recommendations

Half Gauntlet Glove recommendations

I’m looking for half gauntlets that have a full pinky sling, palm slider, and are not overly-bulky. I don’t need a full gauntlet as it just feels OD for daily riding, but prefer a bit more wrist protection and something that will come up further than typical short gloves. I really liked the look of the A-stars SP5s (pictured) but after buying I noticed that they barely have a palm slider and the pinky sling also allows so much movement that it’s almost irrelevant.

Prefer mostly leather (to avoid the messy/pilling fabric look) but if breathable for summer that’s a plus. I’m female, but men’s/unisex gloves are fine. Looking for sleek yet protective. Any recommendations that fit the bill?

Anyone tried the Five RFX2 Airflow gloves?

Pretty much the title, saw a review for them online and they seem legit. Just curious if anyone on here has tried them to get some more feedback

Helmet fit

New rider, dumb question about helmet fit. So I got a AGV k1s in a size large. Its pretty tight in the cheeks but no uncomfortable pressure points anywhere else on the head. However there is a good bit of resistance getting the helmet on and off and it does rough up the ears a bit. Is this a break-in issue or should it not be much of a struggle getting a new helmet on and off?

Does this helmet fit?

This is a small (yes I have a small head), and it seemed to be very tight and fitted when I first had it but now it seems to sit a little low on my head, or so it seems?

Sedici strada 3 visor

I have a Strada 3 and while riding it’s very hard to open the visor when it’s fully closed. I always have to put both hands on the helmet to get it to open. Any tips to help make it easier?

Need some help in finding a helmet for a "round" head

Hi all - First let me be upfront and say that I am not currently a motorcycle rider. (I was, many years ago.) But I think this forum will be able to answer my question, since many of you wear a helmet.

I drive a car in a type of racing called autocross. Of all types of car racing, A/X (as it's called) is considered one of the safest. But they still require Snell-approved helmets. I'm a novice, so it's time for me to buy a helmet.

Well, I am having a heck of a time finding one that fits properly, or "almost" properly. I say "almost" because if it's a bit loose, I don't mind, since A/X is relatively low-risk. (If I was running the Isle of Man, then it would be a different story.)

I've concluded that I have a "round" head shape. I've tried several budget brands like HJC, Zamp, Conquer, B2, etc. None of them fit right. So, I stepped up to a Shoei RF-SR, and I have to say, it's pretty close. But it's just a bit tight in the upper part of my head. And at the price of a Shoei, I'd want it to fit just right, not almost right.

So my question for you: Are there any other brands of helmet that fit round heads that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance, and ride safe.
