Got my summers powder coated and finally threw some coilovers on.
I noticed every time I turn off the car it makes this weird sound. I already have timing chain kit coming in, but I might not drive it until I get it in and fix it.
i’m so sorry it’s so hard to hear it’s VERY quiet in video but try with headphones. listen to when i shift and apply throttle, it’s like a weird ticking/rattle noise when im cruising.
i have a super chatty clutch from ECS so maybe it could be that? or could it be wastegate?
2013 gti 6 sp, timing done at 97k, pcv replaced as well. sitting at around 130k now.
Hello guys!
I have a 2011 GTI DSG Automatic.
I am still fairly new to owning this car so i’m still learning, but is this a normal idle sound?
I feel like its loud but I can’t tell if I should be worried or if this is completely normal for these cars.
Note: this was taken like 4-7 mins after turning on the car. (if that helps)
i have an ebay cold air intake but i’m not sure if the MAF sensor being in the wrong position would cause this?
Here’s a video so you can hear it. Car is K04 with a catted down pipe for reference.
I shared this in another post. Our stock mufflers are the same as the Scirocco R, all you have to do it cut off one of the caps. I’ll share photos in the comments of what to do.
i just bought a mk6 2012 and lowkey want to buy a new exhaust i don't want it to loud but I'm trying to get one under 1k so i am gonna get a good quality DP for drone. what would you guys suggest, i was thinking rev9,invidia also saw cts has one any other suggestions would be appreciated though.
Just installed the cts catch can yesterday. It was fairly easy the most difficult part was that i have a charcoal canister on my mk6 gti and had to mount the catch can on the other side of the bay instead of the Recommended mounting point that was suppose to be in the place of the charcoal canister. Luckily i was also installing an apr cold air intake so i had some more room for the other mounting spot that was hidden under the stock air box. The other challenge i faced was the rear line from the pcv plate that connects to the intake wouldnt click on the intakes side so i had to retro fit it a bit. Any suggestions on how i can properly fit it. Ill share pictures in dms if needed.
Hey everyone, I need some help with a major issue I had with my 2010 Volkswagen GTI. It’s got a stage 2 tune from IE, a full 3-inch turbo-back exhaust, and a cold air intake. The car was driving fine—no smoke, everything normal—until I went to give it some gas on the highway. Suddenly, I felt a hesitation, like a jerk, and I lost all power. I initially thought it was the clutch slipping because I was in 5th gear, but no matter what, the car just had no power. I got off the highway, pulled into a Wawa, and as I did, thick blue smoke started pouring out of the exhaust. The car still starts, but it’s really sputtery, and I only got it home by towing it. Chat gpt says you don’t get sudden ring failures—usually that’s gradual—but could this be a blown turbo? Because that’s what it suggested and if so what’s causing so much thick bluish smoke…that has a pretty strong smell…I’m trying to figure out what might be going on. Has anyone seen something like this before or have any advice?
Hi guys is there any difference between bremmen and hengst? I bought the hengst one for about $110 when I first got my car and since it has life time guarantee thought I’d be set but it looks like I have to pay full price for it one more time before I can use the guarantee.
Is there any difference? The bremmen one is $50 rn and the hengst is $128 so if there ain’t a difference I’ll just get the bremmen since my pcv is due again
Trying to replace the filler neck, which has gone brittle and is disintegrating. Already received 2 from eBay that weren't even close, and the one from FCP Euro looks the same (3 accordion sections vs 2 on the stock unit.
Anyone know where I can find the right part?
Hello I just bought and installed mk7.5 style headlights for my mk6 and they look great. one thing though is that the yellow drls stay on while my key is off and the lights are on but once i turn the key the actual low beam headlights turn on. When i have my lights off while driving the green drl icon on my dash is on but nothing on the headlights turns on. Is there a way I can make it so just the drls are on while driving? The seller said that to keep the light switch on park lights but i only have the option to have them on or off. Is there a different headlight switch i can buy to have the park light option?
Hey all, im just gonna post a screen record, and see what anyone says. Admittedly im kind of a dumbass and I don’t know exactly what I’m trying to look at here. So just any info would be great, and I can continue to learn more and more about the platform and whether or not I need to have a timing job done. Thanks in advance.
Water pump was replaced. I thought I had done everything correctly and I literally forgot to tighten manifold bolts and to connect MAF sensor. After trying to start car 3 times, it started on the fourth and it was stalling. Turned off after rough idling for about 40 seconds to a minute. I ran this cheap obd2 thing I have and it gave me 3 codes. They were there before so no biggie. But it also gave me fuel injector 3 misfire. That’s when I looked up to see what to check for after doing the work I had done.
It told me to check
manifold seated evenly
all bolts tightened evenly
PCV hose connected
brake booster hose connected
MAP sensor plugged in
I checked all those and that’s when I noticed the MAP sensor was not plugged in.second video after connecting map sensor.
Anyone have any experience with these? Much cheaper then buying replacements trims but not sure how they’ll look or how easy to fit 😅
So I bought a 2011 gti through Carvana, got a PPI, my mechanic said there was oil and coolant everywhere and it wouldn’t be worth the repair, exchanged with Carvana for another 2011 gti, this one had one owner all things replaced ( tensioner, water pump, manifold, spark plugs etc ) took it to my mechanic and he says this one is good but the drain plug may be stripped… didn’t wanna do anything then as it had full oil, noticed a dripping leak from drain plug, took it to mechanic, they couldn’t remove the leaking drain plug, consensus was replace the plastic oil pan, contacted Carvana to start a claim, dropped my vehicle off the shop at 3pmgot a text that the replacement was approved through silver rock (Carvana warranty provider) at 5pm
I hope I can relax now and install my body kit, resonator delete, dv+ diverter, lowering springs and stage 1 tune !! 🫡🥳
IE stage 1 tune with CAI and new spark plugs and ignition coilpacks. Idk what to do about this right after tuning the ecu and tcu
