Apartment Hunting

Moving to Macon in June. Been searching non-stop for a place to live. Starting to realize In-Unit Laundry is rare here. Didn’t think it would be this hard to find a place with good reviews on the units and safety. Anyone know of a good landlord/property owner with available apartments? Or new complexes. All I need is a 1 bedroom. Really would like to have a washer and dryer included. Easily accessible parking. Want to be somewhere that’s safe. Close to Mercer ideally. Don’t want to pay more than 1.3k but at this point im just trying to find a good place by June 2026!

Hey! I will try and keep this short. I am selling my house in Rhode Island and moving to Macon or maybe WR tbis July.

I am self employed and work from home. My business of 20 years is changing dramatically and facing steady decline in sales / revenue year to year. I am moving mostly for a slower lifestyle, lower cost of living, cash home purchase = lower overhead. Year round outdoor activities i enjoy, etc.

Though I will be saving almost 3k per month in Macon vs my cost in RI, I am still worried that eventually my business will nearly collapse in the next few years. (Or never who knows)

Can anyone give me any insight on the job market?

I am 42 yo male, my business is very niche but I am a one man show. customer service, sales, inventory acquisition, inventory management (very basic but effective). The only normal job i ever had was 19 years ago, supervisor at target over night which involved logistics, warehouse/ stock room, replenishment, on- boarding new hires, supervising staff of over 50 associates, so on.

I know i dont have what many would consider "employable skills" since I dont even know how to use basic software like excel. So I think my "oh shoot i need a job" emergency plan is looking for general labor in warehouse, logistics, etc or perhaps mid level management role in similar fields.

Am I overthinking qualifications? Is there a decent job market in Macon which fits my profile? I couldn't find much information online and indeed was a bit thin, other resources?

Thanks in advance for any insight yall can share with a shakey "Yankee" lol

Seems like the locals in Forsyth love him. Course, the people I’ve met in Forsyth don’t set a high bar.

Neighbor Neglecting Dog, What can I do?

As the title says, I believe that neighbors is neglecting their dog. Her name is Bee and she looks like a pitbull. I always here them screaming at her and she yelps and cries all the through the night even if they are home. One day they left out the crate they keep her in and it was tiny. She is also extremly skinny and I could see. My roommate reached out to the police but that was over a week ago and I don't think they've done anything.

My question is what more can I do?

Hey everyone,

I’m part of the Equal Ground Initiative. Our mission is simple but ambitious: we want a future where access, not advantage, defines outcomes.
We’ve developed a core model where students are matched with a mentor starting their freshman year and stay with them all the way through high school graduation. It’s about long-term, steady guidance—not just a one-off meeting.

Where we are right now:

Upcoming Freshmen (Class of 2030): To maintain our 4-year model, we only accept students entering their Freshman year. If you know a motivated student (especially from a lower-income background) who could benefit, I’d love to connect.DM us

• Potential Mentors: You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need the desire to provide steady guidance to a student over the long haul.

• Collaborators: If you work with an org, a school, or a nonprofit that aligns with educational equity, let's talk.

• Early Student Referrals: If you know a student (specifically from a lower-income background) who could benefit from this, I want to hear about them so we can notify them the second applications open.

• Internship Interest: We will have unpaid roles in Social Media, Data/Research, and Communications to help students build "readiness" and confidence.

DM if you want to talk or collaborate in one way or another

Hey all, I plan on moving to Macon in July. I wanted to know what you guys think a fair price point is for a decent 1 bedroom home in Macon. Single, no kids, or pets. I’m looking at about the $800 range, but should I be looking to increase or decrease that number? Or is that a good price spot?

Cat Groomer?

I'm looking for a cat groomer. My baby had a pretty bad mat on her back that she won't let me touch. She's a big girl too.

this guy, if you don’t know already, walks around downtown every day wearing the same thing and is always loudly preaching nonsense at his phone (does the phone work? where does he stream? who is he talking to?). people have said he’s pretty antagonistic and yells at people that walk by. apparently he has a youtube channel (would love to find it and see what the hell he actually does with his time 24/7).

does anyone know much about this guy?
