The Bluetooth dongle is a bit goofy…
I still have my OG Apple cable headphones that came with my iPod Video 5. They sound ok and round up that nostalgia feel, but AirPods 4 are definitely much better.
Enjoy Easter and have a good time ✌️

Hi everyone,
I've lurked here for years but finally have something worth sharing.
About six years ago I got fed up with how painful it was to manage music on my iPods. I went deep on every available tool, settled on Swinsian for library management, and ended up writing a sprawl of shell scripts to handle the bits it couldn't. It worked, but it was never really what I wanted.
My background is iOS development, so eventually I just built something for myself. It did what I needed but was rough around the edges and never something I'd have shared. Then earlier this year I decided to properly sort it out and turn it into a real app — and that's what I want to share with you today.
ThirtyPin is a macOS iPod manager — a spiritual successor to iTunes.
What it does right now:
• Sync a local music library to your iPod
• Automatic format conversion (FLAC and other unsupported formats handled transparently)
• Podcast subscriptions and syncing — episodes sync as proper podcasts, not just tracks
• Per-device sync profiles, so you can have different libraries on different iPods
• Supports every iPod model except Touch (I'm picking up a few more models to verify some hardware quirks)
The app will be free, with a one-time Pro unlock for advanced features. No subscription.
It's still in active development — I'm currently focused on polishing the UI — but I'm planning to open a TestFlight beta soon and will post here when that's ready. If you'd like to be notified, drop a comment or follow my profile.
Happy to answer any questions about the app or how it works under the hood.

I have finally achieved a dream from eight years ago. Back then, I was literally "poor." Living in a university dorm, I survived a month on less than 300 dollars. At that time, I wished I had a physical place to store my family photos, all the code I had written, my projects, and all the music I had curated to suit my taste.
And only now have I bought the item for that purpose. And at a price lower than the regular price ($200).
...And now I'm going to shove data in like crazy. And then I'm going to shove it into a corner. It's fitting for an outdated bastard. You were born to do that, so just accept it! You portable git!

I’m new here, but thanks to the guides etc I’ve got my original 6th gen modded to run Rockbox. It’s the 120gb version on the stock battery and hdd.
It’s been mine since new. I also still have my tiny clip on shuffle, my 32gb touch and my ‘fat boy’ nano. Clearly I loved iPods back in the day!
I realised I had a schiit magni headphone dac amp in my drawer, so that’s now my desk setup with a pair of sennheiser 560s headphones. Sounds awesome with lossless files!

With 18,844 songs in my pocket, it feels great! Here are the parts I used for this build:
• iPod 4th Gen 20GB (Mono): RMB 99 / $14
• 256GB SSD: RMB 289 / $40
• CE/ZIF to M.2 SATA 2242 SSD adapter: RMB 30 / $4
• CE/ZIF ribbon cable for iPod 4: RMB 30 / $4
• 2450 mAh battery: RMB 25 / $3.5
I sanded both sides of the adapter a tiny bit to make it fit perfectly in the old battery housing. Remember to properly insulate everything to avoid shorts. The battery lasts 27h 15m, so I have no complaints at all.

I finally got my first ever iPod! :D
I got it from an online flea market in Japan and it only cost me about $80 with original box and all the accessories (cable, earphones and a stander(not pretty sure what it calls). I check the smart data and the hard disk condition looks pretty good. The battery is a bit old but it will not be a big deal to change a new one. Overall I think it’s such a treasure to get in this price and just want to share my excitement.
I use the iPod Classic Gen 6 (80GB) in black.
Curious to know what the others on this subreddit have. I'm seeing lots of people reminisce about the iPod (myself included - I got this when I was in middle school) and just how good it was and figured I'd make this post to try and get to know what you guys got.

I bought this 2nd Gen mini looking to iFlash it, as the original hard drive seems to be toast. When turning it on using usb 30 pin it boot loops but with FireWire it runs - which seems to suggest battery problems, but when restoring using FireWire it crashes partway through the process.
To those in the community with much more experience than me, is it likely that replacing the battery and swapping the hard drive for an SD-CF adapter will problems?
Like most projects, it’s been sitting around for much longer than it should have waiting to be revived, and it’s time has finally come for me to attempt a repair. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also saw a red one for $1500 yen, but I don’t knownif that one is working or not

ok so in pic 2 you see component c66? it got so warm that it tore itself in half and inserted itself into the backlight and created a crater. i am NOT fixing this😭😭😭 11 bucks badly spent i thought it was just the battery that wasn’t gonna work. i suspect the short was caused by water damage

That change from the Apple EarPods XD

Music app in ipod touch there is a section called for you in that getting stuck message
Choose three or more of your favourites
Tap once on the artists you like, or twice on the ones you love. Press and hold on to the artists you do not like.
I have attached the image thanks in advance.

do y’all think my hard drive is cooked or that maybe the ribbon cable came loose possibly?….. if i’m being real the hard drive made some WILD noises when i did the hard drive health test thing and makes a small couple noises when i turn it on, so like it’s prolly the hard drive itself i just really don’t wanna have to open it up, it looks hard🤣

I recently got a 4th gen iPod classic and when connecting it to my windows 11 laptop it shows "do not disconnect" on the screen on the iPod but it doesn't show up in iTunes, and iTunes seems to freeze.
I uninstalled iTunes and the iPod seems to occasionally show up in my files and device manager but still won't co-operate.
It is still very temperamental between when it shows up as D:, or as iPod, or at all.
The 20gb is almost completely full of all the old owners music since they forgot how to use it. Would this be contributing to it's difficulties?
I have also installed Foobar2000 with the iPod manager which has recognised it but seems to be processing each song for like 15min each
What can I do before I resort to a new hard drive?
could it be even a cable issue?
