Guess the Tierlist Returns! #(what number were we even at?)

I'm back! The answer will be posted on 25. 04. (or not if someone guesses it right, this one's not too bad)

For newcomers: you try to guess what metric/question is this tierlist based on, I tend to make it as objective as possible, though sometimes there can be a difference of opinion.

Saw this on archon studio facebook! What am I looking at?

I know the bulwark and factory, but what is forge based on 2025 update by Gregory Fulton? Did I miss something?

I play HoTA mostly, so not sure where the new forge update is, is this in game?

Sirens

I never bothered to figure out what sirens do until … yesterday. Thought it was a negative luck or something because I visited with hero that only had 1 unit.

It is very interesting. For those who don’t know, 30% of your troops jump off ships and you gain the corresponding xp.

Kinda like altar of sacrifce but for everyone.

Can only visit once ever. This means same hero cannot visit other sirens on the map for same effect. I believe this is the only building in heroes 3 with this attribute.

Thought it was interesting to share.

Am I the only one that hates one-way monoliths with multiple exist?

I kept seeing praise for "Element Land" on this sub, so I decided to try out the map.

The first couple of months were very enjoyable, and it's certainly a great map, however it contains something that for me is a game breaker: one-way monolithts with multiple exits.

Does anyone actually enjoy not knowing where they will end up, not having a way to go back, and not being able to meet or trade with your other heroes? What's the point of RNGing walking?

I already don't really like maps with too many teleporters, for they make having a mental image of the actual map impossible. But one-way teleporters with multiple exits and no way to go back? That's just the worst.

That being said, can anyone recommend a really good map that does NOT have this?

Should Chaos Hydras Regenerate?

Here's my thought - fortress is all about wyverns and tempo, but it's a pretty weak town in the late game. I think it could use a boost for balance, and I think giving chaos hydras the ability to regenerate would help balance the town in a thematic way. The idea of hydras is they regrow their heads right? So regeneration makes sense. It would be very powerful. Up to 249 health recovered. I think it would force opponents to focus on the hydras to make sure they get a kill in the stack. So my thought is chaos hydras only - but maybe it could be for regular hydras too.

Any thoughts?

Forged in Fire campaign

Hey guys, i am playing 2nd mission of Horn of the Abyss expansion, forged in fire. I find it extremely difficult and I am playing it on easiest difficulty. I could use some guidance and nswers, likeis it possible to learn earth magic in that mission since i didn't get one and I am level 12 with Frederick. I tried to start all over again and I didn't manage to get earth magic.

Also, in that mission I need to kill Zog, orc leader. How do you do that? I mean, he left his stronghold with legion of goblins, 2x 250 ogres and orcs. Is it mandatory to attack him fast, since for me personally, this is more puzle game then original Heroes 3?

I also play on easiest level, pawn and I am struggling.

Thank you all for your time and patience.

Is it possible to easily change warehouses to sawmills and orepits?

I am loving the noble nemesis map but it basically has no 1/2 resource per turn buildings but only those warehouses which I have to visit every week. At the beginning its not a problem but later on it gets anoying having to visit them each week.

Is it possible to change it relatively easly?

Antimagic doesn't work against creature magic. Should it?

Playing Necro with Vampire Lords again and I'm reminded that the Efreet Sultants are a bit tricky to play against because of the Fireshield. I've thought that Antimagic should be the solution against it, but isn't. What do you think? Should Antimagic prevent against Efreet Sultants' Fire shield?

If you build a town out of your favorite units, not the best, what would it look like?

Yeah yeah level 4 vampire lords, level 7 archangels, gg, I'm sure. But what if you go for your favorite units, whether it's for aesthetics, enjoying their playstyle, or any other reason that isn't just pure strength? For the purpose of this excercise we'll act like the undead morale bonus doesn't exist.

For me, chiefly based on aesthetics, it'd look like:

Level 1: Halfling Grenadier. They're just funny guys who love shooting stuff. Pre-HOTA, Familiars would've been here.

Level 2: Obsidian Gargoyle. Just a very sleek and intimidating design especially for an early unit, I love them.

Level 3: Cerberus. Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? You're all good boys!

Level 4: Silver Pegasus. I love vampires, but the elegance and sound effects these come with make them my favorites.

Level 5: Power Lich. The epitome of what a Necromancer embodies, and the glowing effects just hit right. And Death Cloud is funny.

Level 6: Scorpicore. It's the right blend of silly and intimidating, and a great way to shout Death From Above when they pounce.

Level 7: Chaos Hydra. I'm a sucker for Hydras in myth and the HoMM3 Hydra just looks so beautifully fierce and powerful.

Given that I'm a Fortress main, I'm a bit surprised at the final list. But as much as I love my Dragon Flies, Mighty Moo Moos and Wyvern Monarches, when it comes to aesthetics they just get beaten out by the ones listed there.

Extended events tutorial poll

If I were to make an extended event tutorial (scripting/programming whatever you call it), for the map editor, I'd like to know what people actually want it to look like. (if even)

1. Would you want/like/use such a tutorial?

-yes

-no

2. Voiceover

- my voiceover (I'm not very fluent)

- ai voiceover

- no voiceover -> text explanations

3. Content

- go over every function in small detail

- select few important ones to go over in bigger detail

- show particular event examples (timer, movement detector, army reset, quest etc.)

- QnA - you ask about a particular problem and I show you how to make it (if possible)

- all of the above

4. Format

- 1 full length video (could be hours, depending on the content)

- several shorter videos each on different topic

- shorts with particular event explained

What towns army is the absolute best regardless of cost or mage guild?

No other viariables considered, like spells or cost. Fully upgraded units. What town produces the strongest army in a month?

Is there a good scripting tutorial for the new scripting tool in HoTA 1.8?

Hi. I was wondering, in Homm4 you could create a hero event to add creatures to a hero on a particular day, is there a way to use the new event scripting tool in HoTA to do this?

Thank You.
