My halo cosplay circa 2011
Galactic Armory’s recent visor release reminded me of my first real cosplay, a custom halo reach spartan with an ODST helmet. The helmet was mostly plaster and Eva foam on a bike helmet. We’ve done so far since then lol

I was playing through Halo Reach again and during the campaign whenever a phantom appeared it felt like a substantial threat compared to Halo Infinites ones. Did significantly more damage, more effects when the blasts would land as well.
Though I loved the horn that the Banished ones blare out when they appear.
Anyone else feel the same?

I got back into playing some of the older, Bungie-era Halo games on MCC with friends on PC recently, and I've been having a blast playing some rounds of Slayer and other modes on not just the base maps for the games - but also on some community offerings from the Steam Workshop. That said, I wanted to highlight some of the best ones I played with friends - as I really don't see that much discussion online regarding non-Forge multiplayer custom maps for the MCC specifically (mostly just see Infinite), despite the love and attention-to-detail some of these maps display. Forge mode - especially in Infinite - is still a really great feature, but seeing custom maps that look like "long-lost DLC" is pretty crazy to see, especially for the older Halo games.
I've included links to each map down below. Sincere thanks to the creators of all these maps - your work does not go unappreciated, and I wish there was an official system for original, non-Forge custom maps to be featured on official matchmaking playlists in MCC, even if just only for a few months.
Halo 3
Halo 2
Halo 1
Been slowly trying to get all the halo 2 campaign achievements in mcc and one of my last few is beat the whole campaign in under 3 hours on legendary. The marines are either a team killing logistical nightmare or more of a threat than I am and there's no in between
i'm new to the Halo IP and understand very little outside of fan works to I got this Audio Book of Halo Renegades. It was very good and I have a better understanding of the Halo story. I like the characters and the general atmosphere of the settings. What i do know from this book is that I hate The Office of Navel Intelligence. Those guys are mean for no reason.
My local library had a book sale. $5 to fill a brown grocery bag with however many books you could fit in it. Nice!
They had a handful of Halo books. I googled but am a little confused on the order to read them.
Heres what I got:
Fall of Reach
The Flood
Ghosts of Onyx
The Rubicon Protocol
Epitaph
and there was 1 more but I forgot what it was called, author was Greg Bear.
So I know the Eric Nylund series came first and I am only missing First Strike, I will grab that off ebay.
I also know Fall of Reach is the first book, but where I'm confused is should I be reading The Flood before I move to First Strike, or should I finish the Nylund series and than go to The Flood?
I'm almost finished with Fall of Reach and I am very surprised with how good it is.
My recently put together Minecraft modpack-"Halo: Rogue" just got a big update! I've received a ton of feedback on the mod thanks to gaming news outlets like PCgamer and Windows Central posting the mod to their socials and growing its popularity. Here are a list of changes:
-Halocraft 3.0 enemies have been replaced with mobs from the curseforge mod "Halo Saga"
-A better skybox has been installed
-Switched from optifine over to embeddium
-Better structure generation
-Balancing updates (no more randomly blowing up)
-Better looking jackal shields
-Damage feedback when attacking certain enemies that would not show before

These various old xbox halo books look sick I wonder how many different versions there actually are and were made and what kind of novels are out there
-Work in Progress, I still have about 12hrs to put into it. (Landing gears + detail painting)
-Built in preparation for a huge halo 3 mcfarlane stop motion coming 2027
-Not exactly to scale for Mcfarlane but works great on camera
I hope you like it, any feedback is welcomed!
I’m no religious expert but I recently came across the angels in Revelations, more specifically the seven angels who bring the plagues of the end times. Now it only connects to the games when switching out the seven angels for seven Halos and the plagues for the flood, which could also just be the activation of the halo rings bringing the end times for organic life and thus the flood.
Theres some other references like John 1:17 most likely referencing Chief’s role and obviously The Ark of the Covenant (duh), but I’d be interested in seeing some other references you guys have come across. It’s honestly this high-scaled mythology mixed with sci fi that made me fall in love with the trilogy’s vibe and story. Such a uniquely beautiful amalgamation of different influences.
looking at the map you can see there's a huge chunk of land in the northeast that's only used for the missions that end the game, you can't explore it at all. seems like it was meant to be similar to the other islands, but they never populated it with content for whatever reason. is there any evidence of cut content that was meant to take place on this island? it even has a massive lake, seems like a neat feature. apparently the prisoner from the audio logs is a medic that plays a major role in a halo book set immediately after halo infinite which was supposed to actually be part of the game based on a leaked cutscene. i always thought it was weird that they had all these audio logs for this random prisoner guy and then nothing comes of it. same for the spartan audio logs.
Posted this in the FB Halo group a while back and thought I’d chuck it up in here too.
Christmas 2009. Simpler times.
Super lucky my dad was a halo fan too and was already grinding away with CE in 2001 which was the year I was born. I must have been 4 years old when I started playing Halo with him and never looked back! Now I’m 25 and it’s still probably my most played franchise ever. A “great journey” indeed. Shoutout to pops, shoutout Bungie. Halo was really something else.
