My first time!!

Modded this GBA for the first time, ive never really messed with any electronics like this before. Took about an hour to get the ribbon cables connected correctly. I kept installing them upside down. And about another hour to carefully put it all back together. But I'm happy with the end result. Got funnyplay IPS 2.0 screen, shell, buttons, and membrane. Ordered from handheld legend. Woo!!

My gba build!

Tried to make it themed like a memorex cassette tape, but ended up looking more like a cup cake.

Help identifying this backlit display

I’m hoping someone can help me identify this backlit display. I’m curious if the taped ribbon connector contacts on the button right might provide any ability to change the backlight level if given the proper connections.

I received this as a gift over ten years ago and it doesn’t appear to have any sort of board of its own, so I assume this predates any convenient solderable button-combo style adjustment. Partly, I’m just curious if anyone knows anything about it.

How do i make my buttons feel not mushy?

I’ve recently shellswapped and ips upgraded an old GBA sp and now the buttons feel less tactile and more mushy. It’s so annoying. Please help

(Dont mind the 3 holes, i screwed in the wrong screws that were too long and switched them immediately after😐)

Got the GBA recently with a very cheap third Party Charger included. It worked but was very difficult to find the right position for the charger to work. So i decided solder in an left over USB Port i had at home from a previous mod. At first i was quite proud of myself because removing the old port worked great - no ripped of pads and cleaned up well. I soldered in the new Port and now the charging light only flashes for about 1 sec. and stops. I read some previous posts so and checked some things but i cant find the Problem. Do you see anything wrong on the pics? And do you have any ideas what i could do next? (i swapped back to the old Port but got the same problem - so i swapped again to the new port)

What i already tried after reading some posts and watching some videos:

  • swapped 2 times because i thought i might have shorted while installing
  • changed to another Battery/ tried 3 different USB A to C cables
  • checked the test points on the other side of the PCB all have continuity with the port
  • checked both F1 and F2 for continuity
  • checked EM8 for continuity and resistance
  • checked Diode D1 to F2
  • GBA still works with battery

The outside plastic is a bit singed after the second install. I know the whole thing was high risk and i should just have bought a new better quality Charger... What would you try next to save this?

It will work 100% of the time if the shell is taken apart, but the moment I screw everything together and put in a cartridge it will do this more often than not

Board revision AGB-CPU-04 40pin board GBA power interruption when powered on green led comes on for a second then powers down. GBA screen does not power on It did this unmodded and prior too any repairs I’ve done so far. I replaced all the capacitors I bridged f1 fuse I replaced the power inductor 101 I checked resistance on r13 and it reads a 150ohms I cleaned the board with 99%ipa no visible corrosion I removed the ground shield and cleaned the contacts on the power switch and retinned them and check power path with multi meter

What I did find T1 pins 1&3 do not bridge possible short???

After all my repairs it still does the exact same thing. What should I try? I have a multimeter and a power bench supply has anyone else ran into this and maybe something wrong with T1?
