As the title says, I'm a disabled vet, 100% so no job and my wife doesn't make much. I'm 53 and I can't drive and I live in an area without public transportation coupled with some personal issues that make it difficult for me to get out and it adds up to not really having anything to do. I love gaming though, specifically Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries (big stompy military robot simulator). My old refurbished desktop though barely runs it and I can't use many of the mods and all my settings are turned down to the lowest and it still has problems.

I'm hoping that someone either knows who can help me get one or has an old one they can give me (I can scrounge enough together to get it shipped I'm pretty sure). The recommended requirements are:

Recommended specifications for better performance are an Intel Core i7-6700K/AMD Ryzen 7 1700, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070/AMD RX Vega 56 GPU. The game requires 64-bit Windows and approximately 55-80 GB of storage space.

While I would LOVE to run a full simulator rig with VR, it certainly isn't a requirement, though any old sim controllers and or foot pedals would be appreciated. I really hate coming with my hand out, but with the wife and kids coupled with the economy I really see this as the only possible way I get something like this.

$500 budget: Do you go 32" 4K or 27" 1440p? (The choice determines my layout)

I am trying to finialize my new monitor choice, for my 9800x3D / 5070 Ti setup, with a budget of about $400. Cheaper is always better if I can get a good bang for buck. The ideal use for the monitor is gaming, running my stream, ocasional VoD edit, and watching cartoons/anime with the kids.

Option 1: The 32" 4k

+ The Layout: 32" Center Main (New Monitor), 28" 4k Asus horizontal on top (centered), 27" 1440p Lg Vertical.on left side

Option 2: The 27" 1440p

+ The Layout: New 27" center, 27" 1440p LG horizontal stacked ontop, 28" 4k Asus vertical on left side

Priority:

IPS

G-Sync

Cool Features to play with:

PiP/PbP (for gaming and having anime on same monitor)

Speaker (majnly for when kids sit with me while I game)

Thia is where I have landed after a few days of reseaeching sizes, resolutions, and more. I will say I do entertain the idea of a 34" but fear games that dont support Ultrawide. I play alot of multiplayer games such aas , WoW, Star Citizen, Helldivers 2, BF6, REPO, Conan Exile, Diablor 4, Smite, and alot of Early acess / DEMOs.

First monitor for gaming

Hello everyone,

I'm hesitating between two monitors: the Philips Evnia 32M2C5501 and the Samsung Odyssey G5 G55C.

It's my first monitor, I was told what features to look for and these two monitors stood out for the budget I can afford.

Do you have any opinions on either one?

Or even on both?

Long story short, I was gifted a 4060 8gb card along with 32gb DDR4 and a couple other components that lead me to build a rig with those along with a Ryzen 7 5800XT. I have been a Mac user previously and already had peripherals, one 1440p 180hz monitor and a 4K 144hz monitor. I know it won’t handle gaming in 4K but will it be able to run on the 1440p one? I mostly play games like Fortnite, Rocket League, ARC Raiders, but also enjoy games like Forza and want to be able to play Horizon 6 when it comes out and get at least close to the refresh rate of my monitor. Am I out of my mind or is this card more capable than the reviews say?

For context, I have both a 4k and 1440p monitor, however I have built a new PC and got a free 4060 for the build. I’m wary about being able to play a lot of titles in 1440p at high settings/frame rates, but I know that 4K can scale evenly to 1080p. Should I set my games to 1080p and game on the 4K monitor instead of the 1440p, or should I make a change and get a 1080p monitor instead?

Reached my upgrade goals for my rig for ‘26. Got everything wired and managed well enough. (First rule of cablemanagment: if I can’t see it, it no longer exists).
This years update involved taking apart my old rig and balancing everything right and tightening everything better. After that was solid, monitor mount included, I mounted the newest purchases: the MOZA flight lineup: the Ab6, mtp throttle and landing panel and the rudder pedals. Also added the mh18 stick. I also sim race, more than flying actually but my base is out getting fixed so I’m waiting to mount it to the rig. I moved the 4th monitor down and to the right. It makes it easier for me to see without hurting my neck.
I use space desk to stream my streaming pc feed back to my tablet so I can monitor my stream. I added some Mackie Cr5bt speakers just for when I don’t wanna use headphones. Added the stream deck mount and use the xl for button boxes and the plus for controlling stream stuff. Added the Govee light bars for ambient lighting when flying and racing. It really adds some new details to the overall experience. The first time I saw lightning strike in game on screen and the lights reacting to that, that was impressive. The rudder pedals are mounted on an old shelf and are removed when racing. It’s the only adjustment that needs to be made to go from flying to racing. Overall I’m pretty damn happy with this. Apart from possibly changing monitors and adding a haptic seat, I don’t see doing much to it. I’m not really into motion simulation so don’t think that’s in the cards. I am looking forward to the new MOZA flight panel and that will require some engineering.
Thanks for taking a look at my money pit. 😊

I currently have a ax370 gaming k5 mbo and my cpu is a ryzen 5 2600x. I wanted to upgrade my cpu to a slightly better one but not break the budget so I got a Ryzen 5 5500. After trouble shooting for hours I contacted my mbo support and they told my that my mbo doesn’t support any 5000 series? Is there any way around that? If not what would be the next best budget cpu upgrade for gaming?
