Every time I look at upgrading to a Id.4 I’m reminded how nice this car is.

Man. Looking at the interior photos of various Id.4s that are available I can’t help but notice how cheap they look compared to the egolf. Plastic everywhere and no physical buttons makes them look really tacky.

I’ll keep my short range, comfortable egolf. Just wish it had 100 miles more range.

2018 and plan to own it for another 6 years

Does it sound crazy? No major issue with the car besides wear items. I replaced the brakes and struts.

Other option is to sell it now and get a used but newer EV. I enjoy driving the golf. Range is not an issue as this is mainly a commute vehicle

Wonder if there is any residual value for a 12-13 years old egolf!! Will be low mileage though. I have 35k right now .

Aftermarket Strut Recommendations

Last week I learned that I have a bent strut which needs to be replaced. If I'm replacing one strut, why not consider upgrading all four? Have any of you upgraded to aftermarket struts?

This is the family car, so I don't want to make the ride quality too harsh - but if there are struts that are better in corners while increasing comfort, I'd love to buy them.

2017 SEL vs 2019 SE

I hoping to purchase an e-Golf this weekend, and I'm between two cars

2017 SEL with 49,000mi -$12,400

2019 SE with 90,000-$11,200

Both cars look in great shape, clean carfax

The 2017 does have more service records than the 2019, but after reading a lot about how little maintenance is required for these cars, does that matter?

My question is:

Is it better two have a newer battery with more miles? Or an older battery with less miles?

Also if there is anything I should be asking about these cars when I go see them, please let me know

I hope to join you guys soon

Thank you!

What major maintenance have you had to perform?

I’m 40k miles in with only a new set of tires and the recall on the trim around the gearshift to report. Just doing cabin filter replacement each year and tire rotations. How’s everyone else doing for major maintenance and repairs?

I've looked through all recommendations so far but none worked. I understand it's a common actuator issue. Here is what I've tried

Gentle banging on the door
Lock & unlock a few times while applying pressure
Key to pry open
Pressure on top right corner
It's spring time so not a cold jam

Have a dealer appointment on Tuesday but trying to get a solution before I shell out the cash to them.

Efficient motorway driving tips?

Hi all started my new job today and will be on the road quite often around 1/1 1/2 hrs drive there and back and I was wondering if anyone had any efficiency tips?

I have a 24 plate Golf R line fuel type is hybrid electric and I’m finding sometimes on long drives when I’m driving around 60-65 on D eco it adds a lot of mileage onto the fuel, however when I’m doing the same drive back at the same speed it goes down significantly.

My drive to work is around 60 miles however, when I started driving in the morning it was around 110 and by the time I returned home it was at 15?!

I have never put it in sports mode and always keep it at D, don’t really speed - most I go is around 75 sometimes at max. Just thought I’d see if there is any tips anyone can share or if there is something else I could be doing.

Update : I did find a solution through my auto shop guy who was able to pry it open. It's good for now but it will not close all the way.

Tl;Dr it's an actuator issue as expected! Got quoted $450 for parts and labor by the dealership!

Any suggestions for a DIY fix now that I got it open? Do I need to worry about rain seeping in? Should I cover the charging port?

I would like to know if a 2016 eGolf is a good choice for local and town driving, and what its longevity might be. (Edited grammar)

Some details: My husband and I are looking to buy a second car for around town driving. We already have a gas van that can go the distance. We've slowly honed our interest down to the 2016 eGolf. We are hoping to get either 100,000 miles or 3 to 5+ years of service out of this vehicle, and 50 to 70 miles of battery range. The three models that we're looking at have 54,000 miles for $7500, 75,000 for $6700, and 88,000 miles for $5900. None have been in an accident. It is my understanding that mileage is significantly linked to the life time of the elecric battery, but I'm not sure how much degradation these amounts of mileage represent. Ultimately, I'd like your thoughts on whether a 2016 eGolf with some miles on it, is a good buy.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge. 🙂

Whenever I charge the car it will default to 2-phase when I plug in below the set minimum, but when it resumes to charge as per schedule it always use a single phase and then never finish in time.

My settings:
Every day 70% by 6am using 5A.

If I plug in below my set minimum of 50% it will then use 2x5A and charge at 2.2kW up to 50% and stop. But then when it resumes during the night it's using a single phase and get only 1.1kW. This then result in it never being at 70% by 6am. If I don't use the car it will usually keep going and reach 70% at maybe 9am or something.
It's like the timer expects 2.2kW, but for some reason only get a single.

Anyone else experience this? I'm using Easee EVSE btw.
Is this happening with other EVSE brands as well?

I was wanting to de badge my 2019 e-golf and was wondering if anyone had any tips or if anyone’s tried it. I’ve seen online that the e-golf sign on the boot is removal by just heating and some dental floss but I was wondering about the e-golf signs on the sides of the car and on the front, whether they’re removable or not. Any help is appreciated

I just got new Ecopia tires on my egolf with alignment. I feel a very subtle shake on the steering wheel. The dealer says it’s normal road noise. I think he’s not used to how quiet and smooth EVs are. Has anyone had this experience where new tires feel rough? I don’t remember my old tire brand but my car was very smooth on the road. Just looking for experience with what to expect with Ecopias
