What is considered rigorous

In respect to classes one take in high school. I’m a parent . Kiddo is junior this year. School has 25 or so AP. He took 2 (max allowed) in 11th, taking 4 this year and likely 5 in 12th. Some kids are taking total of 14-16APs.

His AP is very much all STEM . He didn’t Ike English and arts, so didn’t take those AP or honors version.

Is this considered rigorous?

How to meet ppl

Thinking about retirement in Taiwan, wife and I are early 50s.

I’m pretty social and can make friends with taxi drivers. Wife is a bit introvert and happy with a book at the corner. We both can speak OK Chinese.

I was wondering how easy it is to meet ppl in Taipei? Not into clubs, pubs etc but loves to eat, walking, traveling and just exploring.

2018 and plan to own it for another 6 years

Does it sound crazy? No major issue with the car besides wear items. I replaced the brakes and struts.

Other option is to sell it now and get a used but newer EV. I enjoy driving the golf. Range is not an issue as this is mainly a commute vehicle

Wonder if there is any residual value for a 12-13 years old egolf!! Will be low mileage though. I have 35k right now .

What’s a good area in Taipei

Thinking of relocating to Taipei with the gold card in a few years. We will be 55. Active. Not trying looking for the cheapest. Say usd 4k rent a month for fully furnished. Slightly higher is fine too if it’s justified

Looking to be near MRT, morning market, and walking/hiking access. And quiet would be good. We can speak OK Chinese.

Since I’m a few years away, this is purely for research.

Any recommendations?

Back in the days, I don’t even have a laptop. Everyone goes to the computer labs. Well I know things have change . However in my work , I just use the laptop to connect to the compute farm. Strictly speaking , you don’t need high end laptop as a computer engineer.

Now back to the college situation. I assume you want to prioritize portability and efficiency? Is there a need for dgpu? Is high end ultra book not suitable for college?

Do you really need run compute intensive sw on your laptop, especially in freshman year for EE maior?

Kiddo is going to college in a year, and his laptop is old. Thinking of buying a new one now, or replace the current laptop battery / upgrade ssd to keep it alive for another year or two. The current laptop have i5 10th gen, 16gb ram.

I assume you can use one of those forwarding mail service for bank etc. just not sure about driving license
