Anyone have an example where they were "dead to rights" in their eyes and the case turned out better than expected?

Whether it was pled down or dismissed. I'm curious.

Compact license and DUI in NJ

I live in NJ. I got a dui about 10 years ago. I was already a RN and never reported it to the BON because in NJ it is a traffic offense and it doesn’t come up on a criminal background check. I now want to travel and want to apply for a compact. Do I have to get fingerprints done and do they check driving record? Can the BON punish me for this?

Violock from false positive smart start

I was in a rush to leave for work and I brushed my teeth and used mouthwash. Got a violation and have to take it in within 72hr. I retested after the 2 minute countdown and passed. I’m worried this will suspend my license or extend it 6 months.

A year ago when I first got this thing installed I had a legitimate violock from drinking the night before which caused a 6 month extension. I’ve since stopped b drinking so this is completely a false.

I typically don’t brush my teeth right before I have to leave for work so since this never happened before I thought it would be fine.

I am fucked?

Suspension or interlock?

hi yall,

if your gonna be rude or mean just leave i was two minutes from my house and got a dui for running a stop sign which I would have done if i was not drunk at 2 am and i have. I know bad decision. long story short I blew a 0.15 which I had no feeling of being drunk but numbers are what people will go off. so I ask 6 month suspension or interlock for one year. I truly don’t want to do interlock for a year but is their any way around otherwise or anything I can do because I rather be suspended and not drive or If I do drive just only on emergencies and make sure everything is okay with my car!

Jail Time?

Because of my BAC (.26) I’m looking at a mandatory 10 day sentence. It is my first offense, no accident, no one hurt. Just an incredibly stupid decision on my end. I’m over the sleepless nights, panic attacks, and stress of finding a lawyer. He is super supportive and informative. He was recommended to me by a family member who works in the court and is familiar with everyone including the judge hearing my case. And my lawyer is very upfront about my situation. The plan is to try to get it reduced but worst case, I do 10 days. So, if that happens, what is your advice? What should I know? It’s a small town so the jail isn’t huge and my cousin had the nerve to tell me her 6 month sentence was “fun” 🙄 I’ve never been in trouble in my life. So this is the only worry I have hanging over my head right now.

Maryland Interlock — how much did you actually pay?

Hey, quick question for anyone in Maryland who had an ignition interlock.

How much did you pay total for your full period, and can you break it down if you remember?

Like:

Installation fee

Monthly cost

Calibration fees

Removal fee

Any random/hidden fees

Just trying to see what’s normal and not get overcharged. Appreciate any input

Can I buy a new car if I need an Interlock?

Hey everyone! I am about one year into my 18 month period in which I need to have an Interlock device. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on purchasing a new car when you need an Interlock. I don’t plan on installing one in a new car, and don’t plan on driving it, but just wanted to clarify if I would run into any issues at the dealership. Thank you!

I am located in Vermont.

I drank 5 40oz of beer over 72 hours between Thursday-Sunday , will I pass a urine I took today?

Haven’t drank since Sunday at 11pm. They were 8% malt liquor . I’m scared to death because I had random urine about 45 mins ago (about 35 hours). Anyone have any experience in this ?

Always lie to the cops if you've been drinking/using drugs

Often they can't really tell unless it is really obvious (you smell like alcohol and are slurring your speech, etc)

And if you do get arrested, it isn't like you'll get a worse penalty. You'll just get the same plea offer as everyone else.

NY Laws

I need advice if anyone knows how it works when your license is first taken. My attny doesn’t know and I am at a loss. Was told originally at arraignment they wouldn’t take my license, now they did, and I was told if I don’t get a DMV hearing in 2 weeks it is supposed to be given back. Now I’m being told I don’t get it back but have to apply for a conditional license. I don’t have any way of getting to work and the bus is about two miles from my job so I’ve been taking it but it’s noticible when I come in and am allxdishelved ( still cold by me) Can anyone give me advice if you’ve been in a similar position? About to have a mental break I fear.

My license just got suspended after a DUI. Do I actually still need to keep paying for insurance?

So I got a DUI about three weeks ago and my license is suspended for the next 90 days. Not my proudest moment, but it is what it is and I'm dealing with it.

I'm still making payments on my car, it's sitting in my driveway, and I'm not going to be driving it. Money is tight right now between the legal fees, the fines, and the classes I have to take. Paying $180/month for insurance on a car I literally cannot legally drive feels like lighting money on fire.

I called my insurance company and they already know about the DUI so my rate is going up at renewal anyway. Part of me just wants to cancel the policy now, save whatever I can for the next few months, and figure out the insurance situation when I actually get my license back.

But I keep seeing conflicting stuff online. Some people say if you have a lien on the car your lender requires you to keep coverage no matter what. Other people say a lapse in coverage will make your rates even worse when you try to get insured again, which seems hard to believe since they're already going to be bad. And I think I might need an SR-22 to get my license reinstated, which means I'd need an active policy at that point anyway?

I honestly don't know what the smart move is here. I'm not trying to get away with anything, I just don't want to pay for something I don't need if I don't have to.

Has anyone actually been through this? What did you end up doing with your insurance while your license was suspended?

2nd DUI within 10 yrs

In March of 2016 I was pulled over for speeding which led to an arrest for dui. I plead guilty in August of 2016. Fast forward to February 2026 I was pulled over for speeding which led to an arrest for dui. What I’m wondering is how the 10 year time line works? Does it go from conviction to arrest? Or conviction to conviction? How to politely tell I am fucked, without telling me I’m fucked? I have a cdl so I didn’t qualify for any programs.

Hello, DUI. You are loved :-) KEEP HOPE ALIVE

Hello, Friends!

(And, please: no hate-messages that I "condone" or "downplay" our DUI Offenses or Alleged DUI Offenses-- I merely want both New-Come'ers and Old-School'ers to know that you are, as a matter of fact, loved... in case nobody else told you this today. I'll say it! Uu-rahh.)

So! Let's get down to business. Grab your pens and papers.

After 12 months of my alleged OUI being dragged on and on and on in Court 2025, I was granted a slap on the wrist and 18 months of Probation. Today marks month 6 of "I've not done anything stoopid again, Ms. Probation Officer."

This "wrist-slap" has severely hindered my chances of getting paid work. This Warhellride has been horrific, and that is exactly what I told my Probation Officer and "Rehabilitation Specialists" over the weekend. McFood chains have "ghosted me," like I'm Ted Bundy or Manson or worse. Minimum-wage franchises you would not expect have entirely shitlisted me because of one Google/Duck/Brave search, this CWOF comes up.

I wanted to tell you, Friends:

KEEP HOPE ALIVE.

Started in 2024, it took 12 months in Court (mine even surpassed the O.J. Simpson trial, WOW) and, when I finally pled "CWOF," today marks my 6th month of 18 total months on Probation. Today, a big box store offered me part-time unloading hella trucks at night!!! Ohmigosh ohmigosh, I can do that! I am so grateful! I even came clean during the interview and told them, "Look. This shit is going to come up. I wanted you to know this." They smiled and thanked me for my honesty and said, "No problem. We have people wearing ankle bracelets. Don't worry about it." I think I cried in the parking lot on my way out. So happy.

KEEP HOPE ALIVE.

I didn't think I could make it.

I am down to (literally and figuratively) counting pennies.

BUT: IT IS POSSIBLE.

You can, and you will, get your life back. It might not be what you wanted, it might not be what you expected-- it will be different. But it will be good for you :-) Big Picture stuff.

I am living proof that it is possible to get through the DUI Disaster.

Apply, adapt, change, keep learning, get creative.

You are NOT alone.

You ARE loved.

Peace--

First DUI in Missouri. Should I hire a lawyer or just take the plea?

I got my first DUI last week in St. Louis County. I am 26 and have a clean record. I blew .09. I know I made a mistake, but I am scared about what happens next. Some people say a lawyer is a waste of money for a first offense. Others say the system will eat me alive without one.

I called Frank & Juengel for a free consult and they explained the process clearly. They seem solid, but I am still not sure if I should spend the money.

Has anyone here handled a first DUI on their own in Missouri? How did it go? Did you end up wishing you had hired a lawyer?

Maryland Ignition Interlock (6 months) — Is Intoxalock worth it or should I switch before my install?

Hello, I’m in Maryland and need an ignition interlock for 6 months. I’ve been calling around trying to find the cheapest option that won’t give me problems.

Quotes I got (rough totals for 6 months):

Intoxalock: ~$899 (already have an install scheduled)

Low Cost Interlock: ~$897

RoadGuard: ~$1000

LifeSafer: ~$1070

Smart Start: ~$1160

Before I commit, how is Intoxalock really? Worth it, or should I pay a bit more for something more reliable?

I’m on a lower income so trying to keep costs down, but I don’t want constant issues or random fees either.

If you’ve had one in Maryland:

Who did you use?

Total cost over 6 months?

Any problems or hidden fees?

Appreciate it

LifeSafer Question

I just noticed that when I activated my cruise control my LifeSafer device automatically goes into sleep mode. I must say I’m not complaining but not sure what to do and I don’t want it to come back as a missed test or something. Anyone else ever experienced this problem? I have had an hour drive home on the freeway so not sure what to do.

Underage dui in Oregon

I got pulled over for speeding + no taillights because my speedometer light and taillight fuse blew. I failed the sobriety test and was taken to the station where I blew a 0.03 and was also asked to do a urine test. I’m just wondering what the process from here will look like.

Does this mean I can just go in and remove Smart Start?

Tarrant County TX - Judge finally approved to have my interlock removed. Immediately sent the form to DPS and Smart Start and was told it can take a day to process. I received this text from smart start a couple hours later. Does this mean it’s approved for me to go to my shop to have it removed?
