r/dredge

I’m playing on a Steam Deck, and I’ve now completed the little quest to get the dredging equipment twice. Both times the game tells me the dredge crane is installed, and both times I can’t find it anywhere and therefore can’t dredge, so the game is effectively over for me after three in-game days.

I know I must be doing something obvious wrong because I can’t find anyone else having this issue on the whole of the internet! At first I thought it was because I had fishing rods on both sides of the boat, but I started a new game and made sure I only had one, and same problem. I’ve gone back to the island multiple times, but the only option is dialogue. I’ve checked my storage, the ship repair shop, the dry docks. I restarted the game and the Deck, verified the files, checked the mapped keys for handheld, etc. I watched playthroughs, and no one else is doing anything differently than me, they just leave the castle and are able to dredge immediately. I feel really frustrated not even being able to find anyone else having this issue at any point. Am I simply the only giant idiot in the entire gaming world??

If anyone would be so kind as to throw me a bone, I’d deeply appreciate it, because I’m really enjoying the game and would like to actually continue playing. I’m sure this is something so simple it’s embarrassing, but I’ll take being embarrassed to get my money’s worth! I’m heading to bed now, but I’ll check any responses while I wait for a scary medical test tomorrow. Thanks in advance to any helpful souls out there :)

Started playing yesterday and I’m hooked (pun intended 😆)! Already got the artifacts at the Marrows and Gale Cliffs, working on the one in Stellar Basin. I’m really enjoying just exploring and finding little hidden things to interact with. Found the stray dog near Stellar last night and was elated, but that immediately morphed into terror when I realized he could get killed if my boat went down. Thank fuck I found him a good home.

Anyway, I love this game and I can’t wait to keep playing. Only seven hours until work ends…..
