Hey all! I recently built a a workout tracking app called Fortis: Workout Log & Tracker and am looking for Cincinnati students to try it out and give me honest feedback. It's kind of like Strava but for the gym. You can log workouts, track progress over time, build custom exercises and templates, and share progress with friends on the app.

Still early but I think it's genuinely useful if you're trying to stay consistent.

Free on iOS and Android. Would love any feedback, good or bad, if you give it a shot.

Non-students disrupting quiet floor

I was trying to study on the third floor of Northside Pollak Library yesterday, which is supposed to be a quiet study floor, when a man in his 50s or 60s came in and started disrupting everyone. He was yelling curse words, and when he wasn’t yelling, he was loudly mumbling to himself. He appeared to be experiencing homelessness, as he was trying to charge all of his electronics at once using the library outlets and kept saying, "I have to stay here tonight."

I would have just moved to another floor, but I have ADHD and any noise is really distracting for me; plus, the quiet floor on the Southside closes at 10:00 p.m. I went down and spoke to the circulation desk, and they called non-emergency public safety, but they never showed up. I’m sure this man is a regular because as soon as it turned 10:00 p.m., he knew to pack up and leave since it is "students only" after that time.

I know Pollak is a public library and I understand the homeless situation, but I wish the City of Fullerton provided more services to them, and I wish Campus Safety could actually do something about disruptions like this. I pay for college out of pocket and I would like to study in peace, at the very least. Is this just the cost of doing business when attending a public university?

Failing because of a self introduction video

Hello everyone I just wanted some advice because I am a full time student who also works full time and I just realized after the final that because our courses self introduction video was worth 50 points which is 4% of the grade I will probably not pass the course and have to retake it. This situation is extremely frustrating because I don’t think I will qualify for financial aid for another semester and I really need this class so I can graduate by the end of the year.

Any professors on here that can weigh in on the Canvas situation?

As a student I just find it a bit frustrating how little is being communicated to us. While I’m sure professors are also struggling just as much, I feel a bit stranded without much acknowledgment of the situation... Any professors here that can provide a little insight? Any is appreciated, thanks. 🙏

Edit: If any of your professors have said anything, could you share what has been said? Thanks!

Canvas Update

There was an update saying they are anticipating being up soon. They have also been removed from the ransom website so a potential deal could have been made

This is straight bullshit

I have an essay that is back due tonight at 11:59 that I haven’t been able to work on in 1.5 days. I also have 2 finals on Monday that I’ve lost 1.5 days of studying on already and I can’t even start studying on till tomorrow because I have to spend the rest of Friday pushing through an essay. Thank god I got out of work today. But I have a feeling there’s gonna be a bunch of us who get absolutely screwed by the professors here.

withdrawal

my grandma passed away a couple weeks ago and it’s caused me to fall behind in some of my classes because i’ve had no motivation to do my work. i went into a period for weeks where i did absolutely nothing and honestly just stopped caring. i’m at the point of no return with some of my classes due to poor attendance and just overall skipping assignments. is there any way to do a withdrawal for a couple of my classes even though the withdrawal period already passed april 15? i don’t want this semester to ruin my gpa but i honestly felt like i lost control.

A 2.0 GPA IS REQUIRED IN ALL UNITS ATTEMPTED IN THE MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION.

Does this mean I need an overall GPA of 2.0 across the concentration, or at least a C in every course in the concentration?

Little rant because i’m so tired of this not being fixed. I understand it’s a high traffic area on the first floor but when i can’t wash my hands without literal chunks of mold falling off the sides of the sink there’s an undeniable problem. It STINKS in the 1st floor bathrooms because of this. Cost of tuition goes up every year but we still have black mold growing in the library.
