Could you help me ID this crab?

Hi! I recently purchased a pair of these crabs from a local aquatic pet store in Seoul, Korea.

The shop owner said these are Malili crabs, but I couldn’t find anything useful on Google. I’m suspecting the storekeeper doesn’t actually know what it is.

Could you help me ID these guys?

They seem to be fully aquatic, their carapaces are abt 4-5cms long, and are not shy but seem pretty chill.

Thanks in advance!

New game all about Crabs & Carcinization just released!

Hey fellow Crab lovers 🦀

I appreciate this is a little ODD compared to the usual posts here but given it's still on theme, I hope it will be okay!

We (Odd Dreams Digital) have just released a video game about Crabs & Carcinization called Everything is Crab and we're hoping to spread the word of Crab to fellow enthusiasts!

It's a 2D PixelArt based Animal Evolution Roguelite game where you start off as a little blob each run and evolve into many weird and wonderful creatures while the world around you becomes more crab-like (and yes you can fully become a crab yourself if you choose! 🦀) The game has a deeply layered gameplay around 125+ different types of real world Evolution (some crab, some not).

I'm posting here today as a dev of the game because we just released the game yesterday and would like to share the news of that with people who may have an overlapping interest!

If you're a gamer who loved Spore and/or modern Roguelites, then this might just be your cup of tea!

It's currently available on:

Thanks for your time and keep Crabbing on!

P.S. The attached pictures are just some examples of what kind of creature you can create (there's well over a million different combinations you can visually become with a ton of different gameplay playstyles you can lean into)

Does my female Geosesarma aristocratoensis look berried? I got her and a male on 29/4/2026, and after 6 days in their new paludarium, she’s finally out of hiding today and I got to see her for a bit before she went to hide again. I have another female that was unlisted at the shop (they claimed she's the same species), but she’s been hiding since day one. The male is super bold, but this female has looked this way since I got her. Is this just her natural female anatomy, or is she actually carrying eggs?

No molt yet but he's active in the tank, moving decor around and digging a bit. And he's eating very well. I've been giving him shrimp food, earthworms, mealworms, and crickets. Here he is munching loudly on some shrimp sticks. The snapping sound is him!

Hi! I'm planning on keeping a couple of Marble Batik Crab and was researching on how to keep terrestrial crabs. I'm planning on keeping them on a 5gallon tank with sand and minimal or no decorations, just a small cork bark for hiding. I just have a few questions.

  1. How wet should I make the sand? Or should it be wet at all?

  2. Is a small petri dish good for their fresh water bowl?

  3. What water should I use for their water bowl? Can I use aquarium water from my fresh water tank?

  4. They said that I should mist water in the enclosure to increase the humidity. Can I use distilled water so that the water wont leave white mineral deposits on the glass?

  5. How would I clean their waste/poop?

  6. Any advice on keeping them?

Thanks!
