Today's Coles vs ACCC ruling is a win for Reddit too. Users first flagged the dodgy “Down Down” discounts (as Media Watch highlighted in 2024), and today they confirmed those Reddit users were right

partner deliveries are my worst enemy

can these uber drivers quit saying they’ve arrived when they clearly haven’t?? have to spend 15 minutes of my day standing at the bays because the drivers keep clicking they’ve arrived, so i update to say they haven’t, then they click arrived again, then i update it, in an endless cycle where it’s not worth going back because they’re supposedly 2 minutes away.

just only click arrived when you’re actually in the bay ffs

Every single day..

I shop at coles 3-4 times a week and I have to get strawberries every time because they go bad so quickly so I can't stock up for the kids (I got 3 kids and have to pack lunch boxes)

I have to spend ages looking for the less moldy looking ones. Why can't we have fresh fruit in australia? I've lived in Russia and Japan and travelled to many countries and this is the only country I go to where it's so expensive and such low quality fruit and veggies.

Online Customer Service is so ridiculous.

So I did my grocery shopping on the 5th of May online i paid $412.75. I applied my Coles plus saver 10% off discount.

I get my groceries, all is good. I go over my invoice and the 10% off has not been applied to my final invoice. I contact customer service on Saturday, they offer me credit. I refuse, I want a refund. They agree, tell me I’ll get the refund within 3-5 days. For some reason I get 50c in Coles credit.

Contact them today because… no refund and I wait on live chat for an hour, the person applies a credit and disconnects the chat. I’m back to position 78 in the queue.

I call, I’m on hold for 15 minutes and the person I speak to offers me a credit, I say “no thank you, I’d like a refund.”

The person says “we can’t do that, refunds are only for missing or damaged items.”

I say “well the discount that I applied wasn’t reflected on my final invoice, that discount would not have been in Coles credit, I want my money back.”

Again, she says no. We go back and forth until she eventually agrees to a refund.

I login this evening to my Coles account and what do you know, she’s applied a credit.. so now I’m sitting on $83.35 in Coles credit.

I wonder how high the credit will go before I finally get my refund 🤣

TLDR: trying to get money back, keep getting given more credit.

Updated: my resolution was that I got my $41.27 refund and my account still has the $83.35 credit.

This Was Not Good.

Although I used a pan and shredded it. Probably better barbecued but I wouldn't trust prepared meat from a bag again.

The fat with all the juice together was gross.

What’s it like in each department?

Can people from other departments describe what it is like to work in that department. I have only ever worked in my department and never had a chance to try any others but am curious as to what it’s like in the other departments. What tasks are you usually required to do each shift as apart of your open/midday/close? How long does each task usually take? How many team members are there usually with you in your department? What does your usual shift entail?

I understand the answers to these questions will obviously vary depending on store size and income but as someone who is fascinated by the other departments and their operations I would love to hear what it’s like for the departments I have never worked in.

Facebook page locked down?

What’s the deal with the Coles FB page being locked down?

Their only viewable post is their “welcome” from 2024. The last images posted were from Christmas 2022.

Woolies, by comparison, are hugely active on their FB page. Multiple posts a day, very engaging etc.

I’m thoroughly confused.

Coles kids, self check outs and toilet paper

Is there some crack down with customers stealing toilet paper at Coles self checkout?

I’ve had some awkward, strange but kinda funny interactions 3 of the last 4 times I’ve had to buy toilet paper. I’m usually only in for getting one bag of lunch or so then get random household supplies.

Usually I’ll set the bag up so it’s not going to fall over, load things in then scan the tp last and place it so it fits. First time as I’m getting the bag out of the basket a Coles worker comes up strangely close and yells that I need to scan the toilet paper first, I say ok and place the bag down. As I do that he repeats, so I do.

The next time as I’m holding things another kid just grabs the tp as I’m holding it, I look at him and he just says “Scan first”.

The third time another one comes up and he’s actually polite and says “excuse me, I’ll scan this for you” then he was struggling and wasn’t scanning but kept knocking my basket. I saw what was happening and when he knocked it off I caught it. He was very apologetic.

It’s weird though because they’ve all been younger workers, id say under 20. Whenever someone older is at the self serve they never do this 🤣.

Is it something that’s being trained?

Edit* I’m not having a go at the kids. I’ve found all of these interactions harmless but awkwardly amusing. I think it’s a piss poor thing from coles to make them feel they need to do this because a couple clearly weren’t comfortable.

Some people have taken issue with my use of yell. The kid came up to me and was just above a raised voice which again I can see coming from him being nervous having to confront someone. I found these incidents funny so thought others may have as well. I also was curious about the reason which has been mentioned being a KPI. I personally don’t see the reason for people to make up stories like this but I guess people do.
