My First & Final Mock Draft for the 2026 Buccaneers

My First and Last 2026 Bucs Mock Draft

The Bucs decide to trade back from the No. 15 overall pick with the Houston Texans for the No. 28 overall pick. The Texans see one of their to rated offensive linemen prospects still there at 15, they take the opportunity to trade up and secure him. As for compensation the Bucs receive the Texans’ original 2nd round pick (No. 59), a 5th round pick (No. 167), and the Bucs give Houston their 6th round pick (No. 195)

Round 1, No. 28 - Malachi Lawrence, EDGE - UCF

I’ve waxed poetic about Lawrence enough on here. He has the ideal physical stature, speed/power combo, athletic explosiveness, bend, and pass rush moves that you look for an outside arc pass rusher. Not a finished product but with polish is arguably the edge with the highest ceiling in the draft.

Round 2, No. 46 - Christen Miller, DL - UGA

Maybe the best all around interior d-lineman in a weaker DT class. He can play all up and down the line, he can play nose, 1 tech, 3 tech, and be a 4i/5 tech. He doesn’t have quite the anchor Kayden McDonald has but he’s a strong stack & shed run defender. He has violent hands and his motor runs very hot. Not a polished pass rusher at all but the high end reps are very enticing.

Round 2, No. 59 - Kyle Louis, LB - Pitt

Might be my favorite pick. A versatile linebacker/nickel defender hybrid. This dude is a baller. If the Bucs don’t get Jacob Rodriguez then this guy is the ultimate consolation prize, he might end up being better than J Rod. Super instinctual, excellent in zone coverage, a playmaking machine. Elite blitzing tape too. He’ll be a weakside LB, he’s very undersized which goes against the motto this offseason. Not somebody that you want working through the trash and crashing down on big offensive lineman, but in the open field this dude can be a game changer.

Round 3, No. 77 - Oscar Delp, TE - UGA

Finally an explosive tight end. He can fly boi, reportedly ran in the 4.4s at the pro day, big strong hands. He’ll have way more production in the pros as a receiver and he has high potential as an in-line blocker. I honestly don’t think he makes it to 77, but the simulator still has him there so I took him.

Round 4, No. 116 - Keyshaun Elliott, LB - AZ State

Now here’s the compliment to Kyle Louis. This is the enforcer. He gets downhill and thumps a bitch. Whereas I said you don’t want Kyle Louis sifting through the trash and doing the dirty work in run support, ay, Keyshaun Elliott will do it. He’s not the biggest linebacker but he plays big, and his size and athleticism is more than adequate. Obviously better going forward than backwards, but his instincts can maybe improve in coverage. He’s not dissimilar to SirVocea Dennis, but perhaps a bit more physical and decisive.

Round 5, No. 155 - Charles Demmings, CB - SFA

This is Zyon McCollum 2.0. He’s got the coveted size, speed, and explosive athleticism any team builder would want for a CB1. From what I can tell by the little bit of tape I was able to watch and looking at his production, Demmings dominated in college. The problem? He didn’t play anybody, he went to Stephen F. Austin University (where tf is that?). Just like how McCollum went to Sam Houston, will Licht throw another dart at an uber athletic specimen at corner and see if he can develop? In the 5th round while already having your projected outside CB starters, why not?

Round 5, No. 167 - Jeremiah Wright, OL - Auburn

Can’t really say I studied a bunch of o-linemen. But when I did the mock he was on the board as a value pick. Watched some of his senior bowl stuff, he played pretty well. He is big as hell and is projected to excel in a gap-scheme. Some late round interior depth.

Round 7, No. 229 - Mikail Kamara, EDGE - Indiana

One more dart throw at edge rusher. Coming off a national championship, congrats. He offers some juice, he kinda reminds me of Markus Golden. He can get off and bend that corner, he’s twitchy, the man gets after it. 15 TFL’s and 10 sacks in 2024… I honestly think he doesn’t go this late… but again, I’m just doing what the mock gave me. I tried to make this picks within reason.

This is all fun & games cuz we probably not picking any of these guys. What do y’all think? Trash draft? Good? Mediocre? This week should be fun.

A Potential Trade-Back Option

Just saw a post that said that buzz around the league indicates that the Steelers are expected to trade one of EDGEs Alex Highsmith or Nick Herbig, so my question for my fellow Bucs fans is this: would you accept a trade down of pick 15 in exchange for pick 21 and one of Highsmith or Herbig, or would you want more in return than just one of them?

Why Bowles isn’t the long term answer.

It’s his energy. A good leader knows how to elevate or de-elevate the energy on the sidelines. If your team needs to get hyped for a fourth quarter comeback he knows how to do it. I you have a large lead and you see your team being compliance he knows how to get them back and on track to close it out. If your team is too hyped he knows how to set a grounding atmosphere.

Todd Bowles however is flat. His demeanor absolutely works in certain scenarios but he only has one tool in his bag here. You aren’t going to have long term success in a game that thrives on energy if you don’t know how to control it.

Bucs Draft Strategy and the Case for Arvell Reese

I think this draft shows what Licht and Co thinks of the current team. If you are just trying to fill a need on a lame duck coaching staff to run it back, go with option 1 draft an average edge we desperately need or just BPA since the edges aren't great. With Option 2 though you could go take a swing in a weak draft class if you think we have a contender. To me this team is not bad its just painfully average on defense with an offense that is ready to go and just adding 6/10 players doesn't move the needle. When you look at the depth chart we have two needs, linebacker and edge. Linebacker I think can easily be solved with a mid round pick, but edge is a problem and I think Arvell Reese solves both issues with one stone and with a later pick we can draft a linebacker when Arvell lines up at edge. This team needs a Superstar and for Jason Licht to finally take a big swing on a front 7 player.

Normally I'm a trade down and get more picks type of guy but literally everyone wants to do that this year, I think we go aggressive capitalize on a buy low situation and get our guy. Also there is a huge group of players that could go from like 13-32, which makes the 15th pick less valuable to teams behind us because the gap between players is negligible.

The problem with this years draft for our situation is there are no blue chip pure edge rushers so the just good ones are going to go higher than they should. The thing with Bowles defense is though he doesn't like to get pressure from the edges but from the interior and blitzing linebackers, and have bigger ends contain the edges. Arvell Reese is literally the perfect player for this defense and would solve all if not most of our problems as he can blitz from a multitude of spots, and is a fantastic run defender. He is what Devin White was supposed to be while also blitzing/containing from the edge and being bigger and stronger. This first rounder has more value as a trade chip than anything IMO..

The situation for Arvell Reese to be on the table for us is, the Jets have to take David Bailey at 2, and AZ only wanting next years first and maybe some combination of mid round picks the next two years. Otherwise it would be too much.

Why we would do it is this years draft is very weak at the top and because of that it's a lot cheaper to move up without QBs and Edge Rushers at the top. Normally a move from 15 to 3 would cost a lot more than a first round pick and some throw ins but I think next years draft being so loaded increases the value, and Arizona would want picks to land their QB of the future. We should be picking in the late teens again next year and I think we should leverage the pick as trading up next year will cost multiple 1s and 2s to get a game changing edge player we desperately need.

Dream draft Scenario Trade #15, the 2027 first, like a 2027 fourth, and a 2026 fifth for #3 overall #3 Overall - Arvell Reese edge/LB - Just a missile of a human being with edge tools that could potentially make him a monster instead of just really really good linebacker. #46 Overall - R Mason Thomas - An actual pure edge, not a great run defender but is just a really good pass rusher that would be a killer third down rusher who is just really good at converting speed to power. #77 Overall - Sam Roush TE - It sounds like Licht wants to run a lot more 12 personnel stuff and people think that means Kenyon Sadiq but I think it is more than likely we grab one in the mid rounds in a deep TE class. Roush has prototypical size, had some of the worst QB play someone can have this year and is a great blocker. 116 Overall - Whatever depth corner Bowles likes

--Alright that's the end of my rant

Buccaneers could draft the next Vita Vea in 2026 NFL Draft

With the crazy Dexter Lawrence trade news dropping, it felt like the perfect time to discuss if the Bucs should start preparing for their own future at the defensive tackle position.

My Final Mock Draft

My strategy this year was trade down in the first round for day 2 and 3 picks and take the BPA after that point.

Trades: Trade 1.15 for 1.23 & 2.54.

Trade 1.23 for 1.24 & 7.248.

Trade 1.24 for 1.32, 3.96, & 2027 fourth round pick. Trade 3.77, 4.116 & 7.248 for 2.59

1.32 - Jacob Rodriguez LB. The heir apparent to Lavonte David and since this a first round pick the 5 year rookie option will be available.

2.46 - Emmanuel Pregnon OG. IOL is a sneaky need this year with a lot of what ifs. Bredeson will be seeking a new contract and is solid but not outstanding guard. Mauch is coming off a season ending meniscus tear and has not played meaningful football since September 2025. Barton is a huge what if at this point as well.

2.54 Gabe Jacas EDGE. I think Jacas is quietly the most underrated Edge in the draft this year. He’s a huge specimen with the stats to back it up. The Bucs need a guy that produced in college, not another athletic freak that they hope will work out.

2.59 - Eli Stowers TE. The Bucs need a tight end that can catch and stretch the field. Otton is a jack of all trades that blocks better than he catches. Payne Durham is a great blocker with no hands, and Devin Culp is too slow to see the field. An actual receiving tight end can help fill the physical presence hole with Mike being gone.

3.96 - Devin Moore CB. I’m a gator fan so I have some bias, but Devin Moore really is that guy. He’s a great depth piece for the Bucs rotating door at CB. Also some competition for BMO and Zyon in training camp.

5.115 - Landon Robinson DT. This was a BPA pick, a great depth piece to shore up the front 7 cause boy does it need it. When Vita was off the field, the defense took a noticeable step back. The front seven needs higher floor depth.

6.195 - Jeff Caldwell WR. Caldwell probably won’t get very many meaningful snaps, but he is a big bodied receiver that the Bucs need with Mike Evans being gone. That doesn’t mean he’ll be an amazing redzone threat, but the Bucs do need some more vertical power in the WR room.

7.229 - Harold Perkins Jr LB. Despite his ACL tear in 2024, Perkins looked the part this year at LSU. Hopefully he can fight to be LB 4 or 5 by the start of the year.

Super Bowl champion Martin Gramatica: "Brady’s level of winning 7 Super Bowls, I don’t think anyone gets there. Because at one point, I thought Mahomes could, if Kansas City had beaten Tampa, he would have gotten a bit closer. But now seven against three Super Bowls, I don’t see him catching brady"
