Schloss der Tiere - Le Château des animaux by Xavier Dorison & Felix Delep - a beauty of a graphic novel
Being the first work in comics for illustrator Felix Delep, another massive four tome series by mastermind Xavier Dorison (Long John Silver, 1629, Das dritte Testament) just received it's final installment.
The covers are nothing but stunning, the interior art immediatley takes people by their hands, especially when they grew up with classic Disney-movies.
The story itself is a hommage/continuation of Animal Farm by George Orwell. And it is a worthy one!
Get it, read it. Blind recommendation!

Cowboy Henk by Robb Mirsky
This comic was originally published in Zine Panique from France, in 2022. Cowboy Henk is a Belgian absurd/surreal humour gag-a-day comic strip series drawn by Herr Seele and written by Kamagurka. This issue of Zine Panique tasked indie cartoonists to do their own take on the character, and here’s mine!
Look up Cowboy Henk if you don’t know the comic, and thank me later.
I just read the two volumes that have been translated into English and I love them. The art, humor and characters are great. Is there any chance that Fantagraphics will translate any more volumes?
BD shops in London?
Anyone know if shops in London that sell BDs? I can find some of the bigger titles online but would like to know if there’s any shops in London that stock BDs specifically. Thanks!
Very cool backstory of LL and fabulous art. Several mini-stories and a full “bio” of the narrator at the end. English release in August. Cannot recommend enough!
Franco-Belgian hardcover comic book, color, for ages 15 and up, semi-realistic, adventure with erotic scenes. A village is pillaged by pirates, and the captain kidnaps the hero's red-haired wife. The hero infiltrates the same ship, where he observes her through a porthole. Thanks for your help!
Hi all, since Europe Comics closed its website I've fallen out of the loop. Are there still publishers publishing BD in English?
How do you find out about upcoming/new releases?
When I was a kid, my mother would read me some comics with anthropomorphic animals going on small adventures. All light hearted stuff. The book was in french. I'm not 100% sure it was originally french. I wouldn't have known the difference at the time.
I don't remember what type of animals but I think it was mostly forest type creatures and mostly european setting. (no jungle or sci fi or anything like that) But I think there were no human characters.
I think the animals were kids and their parents would often give them big stacks of pancakes at the end of the adventure. I think pancakes with jam on top? I remember vividly plates with like 20 pancakes in a stack with jam or syrup on top as a recurring motif.
I remember one story about of one the characters building a wooden house.
The art style was simple and colorful. It felt more european than american.
I unfortunately don't remember much more than that.
Does this ring any bells at all? Any hints where I should look?
Never mind, I just found it. Searching crepe confiture BD. One image had a young bear holding a plate with 20 pancakes and a jar of jam on top. lol
It's Petzi!

A place to share the European comics you have been reading. What do you think of them? Would you recommend them?
You can ask any and all questions relating to European comics: general or specific BD recommendations, questions about authors, genres, or comic history.
If you are looking for comic recommendations you will get better responses if you let us know what genres, authors, artists, and other comics you've enjoyed before.
Steel Streets started as an homage to the comics and pop culture of the 1980s. It was meant to just be a one-off zine spoofing the black and white boom of 86. Well… After more than ten issues it's safe to say it became its own thing. The series is getting collected with the first volume coming out this summer!
