Here’s how we won our Ticketmaster monopoly case, and what comes next. - AG Jeff Jackson
When you ask someone in Asheville to leash their dog so it doesn't maim or kill anyone
Opinion: Are Asheville's and North Carolina’s dog bite rules too lax? A recent pit bull attack on a 9-year-old girl would suggest that yes, they are
avlwatchdog.orgBlue Ridge Parkway temporarily closed as rangers try to trap stray dogs
It's almost as if there's an unreasonable number of irresponsible people acquiring dogs and adversely affecting society as a result.
*Park officials said rangers received a report of two “aggressive” dogs on April 18 near milepost 451. As a precaution, a section of the road was temporarily closed and has since reopened.*
Accountability for violent students at our middle school… is it possible?
There have been some troubling fights at AMS. Started a few months back but the same bad actors and their shitty parents are at it again. They fight in school, disrupt and scare the entire student body.
To their credit, the school, and with the support of local police have been great at resolving these issues when they came up within the extent of their power. The problem is, those same troubled violent kids, and their shitty parents are still here. They are still disrupting learning; they are still instilling fear on our kids. Today for example right after Friday’s incident, those kids were there today and the phones were ringing off the hook. One of the kids looked like they had a weapon and thankfully were searched.
But when does this stop? When do we send the parents to jail and their kids to juvy for these repeated violent incidents? When will there be accountability for these kids (who by the way were also a nightmare in elementary school)? How many other students are negatively impacted or harmed before we remove them from our schools? At the very least an expulsion is in order.
Accountability is all I ask…

Nothing against you guys, but its a good idea to stay safe out there. I was planning on driving around the blue ridge parkway and looking at the sunset but I’m down for anything! I got stuff and you are encouraged to bring as well!

The Best Buy Metals radio ad is trash.
Some might see it as common, everyday workplace banter, but what I'm hearing is an employee light-heartedly letting their boss know that they would like to be paid more and the boss insulting them
by saying they have low productivity and don't deserve it. Given the economic climate, I would say at best, it's in poor taste. I know a lot of people are going to think, perhaps the employees should just suck it up do better and earn their raise, but I also think joking about it just enhances that toxic workplace culture.
Serial Storage Unit Break In at 40 Wilmington - SmartStop Self Storage :)
Hi Ashevilian Redditors!
First, remember to stay respectful and kind :)
My unit was broken into at SmartStop in West Asheville recently. Word at the storage place is it is several of us who have been broken into around the same time. The door was left wide open to my unit, padlock removed, and door damaged. My items had been thrown all around the outside of the unit. Manager is not available on weekends. Door is still getting stuck even though they claim every time they hammer it back in place it’ll never shift out of alignment again lol
If you rent at 40 Wilmington, check your lock and unit
Police are involved and doing a group report due to multiple units! They need to know what you lost/ description, value. Please just also include name, phone, driver’s license, passport (if they have one— id not, an alternative form of ID suffices.

Anyone have a Gary Fisher bike stolen recently?
If so let me know the color and model. Found one on Hanover st that was ditched in some bushes. It’s got a busted back tire and is missing some brake parts, but in otherwise great shape
Autobell scammed my card almost $700
I got a car wash at Autobell on Merrimon today. The attendant said they don’t take cash. So I paid with my card. Later at home I checked the account and there was $700 worth of charges from random places. We are calling to report fraud. Just a warning.
Are we going to show up to city council and Stop flock?

Paying $1400/month, no dishwasher, no laundry… but at least my plants are illegal 👍
I’ve been living in this complex for a bit and I genuinely can’t tell if this is normal or if I accidentally moved into a sitcom written by someone who hates tenants.
I’m paying around $1400/month for a one-bedroom (includes some utilities and pet fees, electric separate). Cool, fine. Except:
no dishwasher
no in-unit laundry
one shared washer/dryer that costs like $7–10 per use
So already we’re off to a strong “premium experience” start.
But the real issue is the absolute chaos of how anything is managed.
When I moved in, part of what sold me was the patio setup—there was a privacy bush that made it feel like an actual usable space. That got removed shortly after I moved in. Just… gone. No replacement, no explanation, just vibes.
Later I added a couple small plants outside my patio. Nothing wild. Just trying to make the place not look like a sad concrete afterthought. Maintenance literally told me it was fine.
Then I get a notice from the office to remove them.
Okay. Annoying, but whatever—I comply.
Except now I STILL see multiple other units with plants in the exact same spots.
So apparently the rule is:
plants are illegal… unless they’re not… depending on the phase of the moon?
Now let’s talk about the office.
The main manager (who I’ve privately nicknamed “Karen” because… if you know, you know) has a very specific energy. Think less “let me help you” and more “I’ve been waiting all day to enforce something.”
Every interaction feels like you’re being processed, not helped. And the tone? Consistently somewhere between condescending and unnecessarily aggressive over the smallest things.
Meanwhile actual problems are just… existing freely.
For example:
My lease. The thing you’d think is kind of important.
Turns out it wasn’t even in their system.
I only found out because my key card randomly stopped working. I go to the office, and they’re like “yeah we don’t have your lease on file.”
Cool cool cool.
So I had to send THEM my signed copy to fix THEIR records.
And then—because why not—there was the time I had one late payment.
It got paid. It was handled.
They still filed court paperwork and I got served at my door like I’m being evicted over a Netflix subscription.
Meanwhile around the property:
trash and dog waste hanging out like permanent residents
strict rules about curtain colors (can’t offend the aesthetic gods)
got told at one point to remove storage furniture for “aesthetics”
but apparently none of that energy applies to, you know, actual upkeep
To be fair—and I mean this—the maintenance team is great. Fast, friendly, and they give treats to dogs, which is honestly the best part of living here.
But everything else feels like:
rules depend on the mood of the office
communication is inconsistent at best
priorities are completely backwards
At this point I’m just trying to figure out if this is normal apartment life now or if I somehow unlocked hard mode.
Lost Dog at Euclid and Haywood in WAVL
I encountered a small-sized, brown, lab-looking dog with tags and collar on Haywood just past the bridge near Euclid around 3:00 today. He/she was quite skittish and would not let anyone approach, but had a collar and tags. It was wandering in the street on Haywood for a bit which was worrying. Not sure if it lives nearby or has been wandering. Looked older and might be lost. I could not get close enough to check the tags without the dog getting upset so backed off. Lest seen wandering near the branch/tributary stream off Haywood.
