I’m moving from the UK to Abu Dhabi next week for a new job and wanted to get some real-world advice from people who’ve done the same.

A few things I’m curious about:

What’s the work culture like compared to the UK?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to move to Al Reem Island soon and I’m trying to get a reality check on the current market.

Is it realistic to find a decent 1BHK for around 75,000 AED (yearly) in June? I’ve seen some listings at this price point, but I'm worried they might be "bait" or have hidden issues.

A few specific questions:

1. Agents vs. Walking In: Is it better to stick with agents, or is "walking in" to building management offices still a thing on Al Reem? Who usually gets the better deals?

2. Dishwashers: I’m specifically looking for buildings that come with a dishwasher (or at least the provision/plumbing for one). Any recommendations?

3. Current Vibes: Are there specific clusters where 75k is more achievable without sacrificing too much quality?

My landlord/property management agreed for 13months rental contract when I asked for a discount last year. Now at the time of renewal they are saying renewal only possible for 12 months at same price or 5% increase for 13months. They are saying 13 months was promotional offer. But nothing like that mentioned in tawtheeq. What are my options and rights here ? And how to connect with Abudhabi real estate centre for any dispute or clarification? I cannot find any phone number to call them directly.

I do not seek to defame anyone or any organization through my post because someone who has cheated me, may be an amazing person for someone else.

But I got decieved by an employer who made me spend money for visa formalities, used my knowledge base to find issues with their ongoing processes and propose the right fixes. Even work through a crucial million dollars CBA which their employees did not know how to prepare.

I put in all the hard work and they kept on lying to me and not moving me forward as promised on my JD, not only that, I was being monitored on who to talk to and who not with threats of getting me fired. Since I am the one who is taking care of my family and putting bread on the table, I kept on taking the stress in hopes of things getting better only to end up with low blood pressure episodes and a miscarriage because of the harassment and stress.

Later, when I decided to take this up with the CEO "in confidence" - instead of addressing the issue and hearing my concerns, my harasser, signed my termination stating vague reasons within 48 hours of my message to the CEO asking for a meeting to seek clarity.

And now I have a husband, in-laws and a mother who is dependent on me with medical conditions.

I am not seeking any monetary help with my sob story but I am only seeking support with job referrals.

I have over 17 years of global finance experience with several industries. I have headed Finance with a few of them in MEA or GCC region as well. If there are any senior finance positions available with or around you, your referrals will be a favor.

Driving a Mini Cooper on about 200 AED a month for fuel is honestly one of those small wins you don’t appreciate until you hear everyone else talking. The car barely sips petrol, especially if you’re mostly doing city driving or short commutes. It’s lightweight, efficient, and just doesn’t burn through fuel the way bigger engines do.

Meanwhile, you’ll be around friends and they’re going on about spending 500, 700, even 1,000 AED a month on fuel and you’re just there like… “wait, what?” 😅 You kind of can’t relate.

It’s that quiet advantage where you’re not constantly thinking about petrol prices or planning your drives around your fuel gauge. You just fill up and forget about it for ages.

It’s not flashy savings, but over time it really adds up and the best part is you only realise how good it is when everyone else is complaining.

anybody experienced a hit and run on the door side of your car parking by a fellow car parked to your side.. i got a huge dent and scraped paint while parked in the lot by some a**h***.. is there anything i can do in this as this is frustrating and annoying.. all the time i park every time i get a scratch.. what the hell is this man

i suggest we should make all men, women and kids aware to learn how to open the car doors carefully so that the fellow car owner dont have to pay huge amount to get it fixed.. why dont they practice safe open/close.. i dont get it man😡😡😡😡😡

One of my friends applied for a Golden Visa in Abu Dhabi in October 2025. The application was returned for modification with the status “system under update.” After resubmitting, it was rejected. The ICP team mentioned that their system was under update and advised applying later.

Has anyone recently applied for a Golden Visa in Abu Dhabi and received approval? Especially for Indian nationals under the salary category (AED 30K+).

I recently moved in here in Abu Dhabi, and got laid off as well from my job here(since my visa isnt with them yet) What surprised me how hard to look for a job here when it comes to marketing.

I cannot go back to Dubai as my husband is working here. Its frustrating as we have some debts to pay and even bills.
