Disembodied Footsteps

Recently while exploring an abandoned neighborhood near the river me and two close friends encountered what we believe to be disembodied foot-steps. Some background information is that this is a very hard to find and reclusive location, it’s atleast 4 miles from any civilization and tucked into a overgrown forest with some other abandoned locations near, it’s only accessible through extensive driving and a dirt road through a demolition zone. I don’t believe a homeless person or squatter could be justified in this instance. We strongly believe the house was empty but can’t be certain due to not going into the attic, this was not our first time at the neighborhood, never have encountered others, just old tagging. when we first entered the neighborhood there was no other vehicles or people around. Feel free to share your opinion, this was very freaky haha.

Abandoned mall converted to a mega church

The abandoned mall on Orchard Road—originally known as the Beau Monde Shopping Mall-tells a strange story. Built in the mid-1980s as a high-end, European-style shopping center filled with brick walkways, fountains, and boutique storefronts, the mall struggled almost immediately as the local economy declined and retail demand fell short. By the late 1980s, it had already failed and was sold to a growing religious congregation, which transformed the space into a massive "mega church," repurposing former shops into chapels, offices, and worship halls. Over time, the church itself declined, and by the 2010s the building was largely abandoned, left sitting off Orchard Road as a hollow shell of both its commercial and spiritual past. Today, behind its still-standing exterior, the interior has fallen into disrepair-graffiti and vandalism.

cute abandoned house

Probably one of the most liminal space feeling houses I've documented. Sitting on a backroad just outside of a busy city, can't help but to think it was a perfectly positioned home to feel like an escape from all the noise. While I don't have much information on past owners or how long it's been since anyone lived here, judging by the aesthetic of the furniture and other random items left behind, it seems likely this house has not been lived in many, many years. I was shocked to see how seemingly clean it was but after walking through every room, the doors, windows, roof and structure in general are all so well in tact it's not surprise the usual elements of nature haven't been able to make their way in. As always, I hope you enjoy the photos!

The abandoned Gilroy Stadium of northern Indiana

The abandoned Gilroy Stadium in Indiana was built in 1956 as a major civic and athletic venue, hosting high school sports, public celebrations, concerts, and even early performances by the Jacksons before it fell into decline by the mid-1970s. I've posted more photos and a history here.

A walkabout at the former Scio Pottery Company, OH, USA

Scio Pottery of Scio, Ohio, was founded during the Great Depression and grew into one of the nation’s major manufacturers of affordable dinnerware. While it closed in 1985, a small portion of the complex remains open for toll blending, sand, warehouse storage, and related services. I've posted a few more exteriors and a history here.
