It's a very mid souls like

This is the only souls like where I got no satisfaction after killing a boss no adrenaline at all this game is only held back by the devs stupid choices like I cant parry hands attack and overusing statuses in every area it got irritating fast that's why I used bridal set the whole game and some bosses were straight up bad example tiger boss i will explain why normally either boss hits hard or have lots of health or is very fast sometimes you give two of these traits to make them unique this tiger has all three for no reason I only finished this game so i could I say I have completed every souls like the only good thing I can say is weapons are great they feel unique plus respec give the freedom to make mistakes right now i don't even want to start new game plus I was thinking for an axe playthrough but what if new game plus is more bullshit and my brain cant handle that kind of irritation and one more thing my death count was 74 (not counting 11 times i died to that instant kill status enemy because i don't know what to do with him) so how was your journey is new game plus feels good or its way hard help me make this decision because i really want to try axe

Best Game Ever

I'm crying real tears right about now because I never thought we'd get peak like this. No need to compare it to Bloodborne this and Dark Souls that, it's in its own league. A watchful protector. The Dark Knight.

Wuchang is SUPERIOR to Wukong

While both Black Myth: Wukong and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers draw heavily from Chinese mythology and dark fantasy aesthetics, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers ultimately stands out as the more compelling experience because of its atmosphere, combat identity, narrative tone, and artistic originality. Where Wukong excels in spectacle and cinematic presentation, Wuchang offers a deeper sense of mystery, tension, and emotional immersion that gives it greater staying power.

One of the biggest reasons Wuchang: Fallen Feathers feels superior is its atmosphere. Wukong is visually impressive, but much of its world leans toward bright mythological grandeur and flashy action set pieces. Wuchang, on the other hand, embraces a haunting, decaying vision of late Ming Dynasty China filled with plague, madness, and supernatural horror. The environments feel oppressive and lived-in, creating a sense of dread that constantly pulls the player forward. Instead of simply showcasing beauty, the game uses its visuals to reinforce emotion. Every ruined temple, blood-soaked village, and fog-covered mountain contributes to a cohesive tone that feels unforgettable.

Combat is another area where Wuchang arguably surpasses Wukong. Black Myth: Wukong emphasizes fast-paced spectacle combat with fluid transformations and visually explosive abilities. While exciting, it can sometimes feel more like a cinematic power fantasy than a carefully balanced duel. Wuchang adopts a more methodical approach inspired by classic soulslike design. Timing, positioning, stamina management, and risk-reward mechanics matter more. This creates a stronger feeling of mastery because victories feel earned rather than merely flashy. The combat also appears to encourage build variance and tactical adaptation instead of relying primarily on overwhelming offense.

Narratively, Wuchang benefits from ambiguity and psychological depth. Wukong is rooted in the legendary tale of the Monkey King, meaning players already carry expectations about the protagonist and the story structure. Wuchang has more freedom to surprise players with original lore and darker themes surrounding disease, memory, and transformation. Its storytelling style appears subtler and more immersive, encouraging players to piece together meaning through exploration and environmental details. This kind of storytelling often leaves a stronger impact because it invites interpretation instead of simply presenting events directly.

Another reason Wuchang stands out is its artistic identity. Wukong sometimes feels focused on proving that a Chinese-developed game can compete technically with major Western AAA titles. That ambition is admirable, but it can occasionally make the experience feel designed around spectacle first and personality second. Wuchang feels more confident in its own niche. It combines Chinese folklore with gothic horror and soulslike sensibilities in a way that feels distinctive rather than market-driven. Instead of chasing cinematic trends, it leans into mood, discomfort, and atmosphere.

The enemy design in Wuchang also contributes to its uniqueness. The grotesque feathered mutations, corrupted monks, and plague-ridden monsters create a disturbing visual language that reinforces the game’s themes. By comparison, many enemies in Wukong, while impressive, are drawn more directly from familiar mythological archetypes. Wuchang takes greater creative risks, and those risks make its world feel stranger and more memorable.

Finally, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers represents something increasingly rare in modern gaming: restraint. Rather than overwhelming players with nonstop spectacle, it appears focused on creating tension, uncertainty, and immersion. The slower pacing allows players to absorb the world and become emotionally connected to its tragedy. In the long run, games with strong atmosphere and thematic consistency often leave a deeper impression than games built primarily around visual excitement.

In conclusion, while Black Myth: Wukong is undeniably ambitious and visually spectacular, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers a richer atmosphere, more rewarding combat philosophy, darker storytelling, and a stronger artistic identity. It is the kind of game that aims not only to entertain players, but to unsettle and immerse them. For players who value mood, challenge, and emotional depth over pure spectacle, Wuchang is the more compelling and ultimately superior experience.

Best overall defense armor setup?

I feel like I might be wrong, but this feels solid,

I'v been running 3 Consort pieces, hat, gloves, and pants, with Draconic Duskdance Garb.

I honestly looks solid on numbers, but the real wuchang experts please comment your thoughts and correct me if I'm wrong.

Flask upgrade?

Playing the game since it’s free on PSN. Loving it so far! Question though: I have materials that say o can upgrade my flasks, but see no way to actually do it?

If it’s a progression thing, I’ve killed 3 bosses so far (Master Raider, Lu Bingzhang, and giant corruption bug)-kinda feel like I should have access to it now.

Have I missed it? Google isn’t helpful it just says go to the upgrade path in the shrine, but there’s nothing there for me.

There’s no way that after all the farms, countless "you perished" screens just to get the worst final in the game. Too bad for me.
Besides that the game is very very good and I enjoyed it a lot. I Really Recommend it. ✌🏻

I made it to the skill check

Im fighting commander now, im only two attempts in but WOW. Yeah this'll be a challenge. So far most of the bosses have been pretty quick, I think up till now the only boss I died to like 10-15 times was the great centipede. This commander lady feels like this games version of genichiro from sekiro haha. A huge skill check that will lock me up for a bit and make sure im actually decent before continuing 😂.

One handed sword and alacrity

They trivialize ..well, everything in this game. Stroke you sword, stack feathers and cheese everything. It’s wild. One skill node can make or break a playthrough sometimes. I know I didn’t discover this broken duo but have any of you found things that are absolutely cracked?

Confusing tutorials?

Anyone got any beginner friendly tips? I'm a soulslike/souls veteran, I'm not looking for gameplay advice, rather for mechanics advice.

Maybe it's me having trouble reading, but the game isn't doing a great job explaining the mechanics to me. How does "mana"+dodge really work? Is it temporary? How do I level single stats? Or do I not do that in this particular game? Things like these.

I'm really enjoying it, it reminds me of a hybrid DarkSouls/Elden/Sekiro, so I wanna know how to master the unique mechanics.

Thanks in advance.

Lost 20 hours of progress after moving my PS5 to a new location? Help!

Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with this before because I’m honestly gutted and really don't want to start from scratch.
I started the game two days ago and put in a solid 20 hours of playtime. Everything was working fine as of yesterday. Today, I moved my PS5 to my parents' house to stay for a bit. The internet here is pretty spotty and slow, which might be relevant.

When I booted up the console and launched the game, my save file was completely gone. It’s acting like I’m starting for the a random safe from 8 hours.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible the PS5 didn't upload my local save to the cloud before I unplugged it, or is the bad internet here preventing it from syncing properly?
If anyone knows how to recover the file or force the console to look for local data, please let me know!

I took down master raider, I managed to 1st attempt it, im sure like most first bosses he was made to be pretty easy and I shouldnt get a big head 😅, but it feels like a good indicator that in picking up the mechanics decent so far unlike my recent endeavors of trying wo long, where i feel lost.

I like the leveling and skill tree system a lot so far, I think im going to level long sword mostly, I like the counter thing that let's me live out my sekiro fantasies 😂.

Any tips for the journey forward? Whats some knowledge you wish you had your first run that youd like to share with a newcomer?

I’d like a save from the last location in the game, because I forgot to hunt the small bamboo fellows, turn in the final upgrade for Wu Gang, and collect all the weapons. I messed up—I chose the ending I was missing, and now I’d have to start everything over since the only option I have when loading is NG+.
