Safety Alert

So my store is the first in our market to be using AI in our cameras to detect potential safety issues.

Essentially, TA’s will be alerted about potential issues in their area. So basically sporting goods associates aren’t tasks with items that are in grocery. If these alerts aren’t taken care of, they’re escalated to TLs, Coaches, then it’ll continue to climb until resolved.

As a lead, I’ve been tasked with taking so many pictures of shadows, trash cans under registers, customers shopping bags, and dogs. A few times there has been an actual item of trash on the floor.

If you do get the alert, all you have to do is take a picture of the area AS YOU FOUND IT. If there’s nothing there, there’s an option to say that and take a picture of nothing. If there’s still something there, you have to take a picture of the mess before you clean it up.

We’re basically training the AI to better defend these potential issues. If you have any questions, I’ll try my best to answer them with the knowledge I have.

Got a job here after 6 months of being out of work...

I plowed through what little retirement savings I had. I needed money to start coming in and I need insurance so I can afford my fucking meds.

I have never hated a job this much this fast. I haven't been here a fucking week, and I have never seen any business this poorly run in my 30 fucking years of working. If you had tasked me with developing the worst, most inefficient system possible I doubt I could have come up with something this stupid.

Walmart is a fucking joke. i might just do door dash instead for a while...

Where in Onewalmart

I dropped my work phone, screen cracked. Told my leads. Coach said I would owe $800 or would also be held accountable. I said it was an accident. I am curious as to what the policy is located for me to read, as well as where can I access anything I signed for the phone. Thanks

i hate this job lol.

i think ima quit daddy walton’s play pin lol it’s too much. my department is severely understaffed so all the work is distributed to a handful of people and i can’t take it anymore. it’s not even the fact that it’s hard, it’s just overwhelming. i’d rather be unemployed at the moment. not looking for advice just venting.

please drop some of your most memorable moments at daddy walton’s play pin. 😂

sincerely,

a underpaid, under appreciated deli/bakery TA. 💋

Managers at war, sliming each other daily

My store is currently at war with itself, with multiple managers from all walks just being absolute villains. There’s even different factions of managers and associates that play scout for their team.

We got the Old Guard, New Bloods and the Formerites. With the ladder being what’s left of the last SM’s crew. Within that dynamic there’s smaller cliques and loyalties.

Shit is like Game of Thrones every single day 🤣

It’s pure entertainment for us associates that simply want a paycheck, we know to steer clear of it all. Walking contradictions they all are, with none being fit to lead the store. I’ve got loads of stories about the twisted and dysfunctional shit that has happened in my time here. Maybe once I quit I’ll post all of them, but Jesus this job is mental.

Is your store like this?

Is this a valid argument?

During my interview i was told by the store manager that when i start I’ll get a work phone. Here comes orientation, our people lead tells me and everyone else in orientation that on our first official day she will have all our work phones ready for us. Three months later, still no work phones ready. I’ve asked on numerous occasions regarding the work phone and her response every time is “Well there’s other people who started before you that need a work phone”…

I’m going to print this out and leave it on her desk to read whenever she comes in again, is this a legit and valid argument?

I wanted to bring up a concern regarding the use of my personal phone for work-related tasks.

Since starting my position, I have been using my personal device for picking inventory, locating products, and other job functions. When I began, my phone’s battery health was at 100%. Over the past three months, it has dropped to 93%, which I believe is due to the consistent work-related usage.

Additionally, while using my phone during work tasks, I have dropped it multiple times, and my screen protector has already been damaged. This has made me concerned about the risk of further damage to my personal device.

Because this is my personal phone, I’m not comfortable continuing to use it for work purposes, especially as it is causing noticeable wear and risk of damage.

I am more than willing to perform all required job duties and would prefer to use store-provided equipment or any alternative methods available.

I appreciate your understanding and support in finding a solution that does not require the use of my personal device.

Work phone stolen, what happens now?

My work phone was snatched out of my hands by a customer and I can’t find them. I was helping a customer and they grabbed the phone and ran. I told my coach and AP has not been able to locate them in the store.
