Vintage woodbois!
I don't know many other folks who have the capability of doing this - either because they lack three vintage US service rifles, or because they lack the eldritch forgotten lore of how to employ the stacking swivel. Probably both, mostly.
Rifle nearest the camera is a prewar Rock Island Arsenal 1903, serial number estimated to late 1908 production from arsenal records. Yes, this makes it one of the early rifles pre-improved heat treat.
The other two rifles are both wartime Springfield Armory M1 Garands; one serial number estimated to June 1943 production, the other August 1943. These are both CMP Expert Grade reclaimed rifles with new Faxon commercial barrels and Boyd's walnut furniture.
All three rifles are in all-original configuration, though as expected for any service rifle having undergone an armory rebuild, they're parts mongerels.
Apologies if this violates Rule 8 for any vintage service rifle enthusiasts!
Hypothetical
Let’s say someone was to HYPOTHETICALLY add a pistol grip on one of these, making it 24.25” OAL. What would this person need to do to make that legal?
Where is this energy for his multiple second amendment violations?
If Bob letting some staffers fly in a plane managed to get him fined, we cannot let this motherfucker sleep peacefully after everything he has done to violate the second amendment.
Pawn Shops
Unfortunately, I’ve been out of work and as much as I’d like to avoid it, I have to let go of some firearms and gear I’ve collected.
I know I’m not going to get anywhere near what I paid, but does anyone know of a reasonable and fair-ish pawn shop in the Seattle area who might not absolutely rip me off?
Thanks for any leads. My goal is some quick-ish cash, Gunbroker and a consignment deal seems like a hassle. But I’m open to suggestions.
Ruger PC9
As the Magpul Backpacker doesn't appeal to me, I have kept the original furniture. At 6'1 I find that 2 stock spacers gives me a perfect posture and allows my non firing hand to grip the end of the hand guard comfortably and firmly.
Since I kept the original furniture, I went with 2x Samson Swivel Stud QD adapters. I also went with the Samson PC Scout Rail so I can mount a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 Red Dot on the front barrel. I am still able to takedown the front barrel without the optic being in the way.
The only downside upfront is that this is absolutely not a light weight firearm. The size and weight of the PC9 could make it less practical than a full sized 9mm pistol for a lot of people.
Idaho
I’ll be in Idaho a bit over the next couple months, both the north side and Boise/Twin Falls area. What are some shops there you’d recommend that are definitely worth my time and $?
Appreciate the input
WA 10 Day Waiting Period
Hello, first time poster here. I live in Vancouver, WA so pretty close to Oregon. I visited a pawnshop in Portland and found a .270 Winchester I like. I was told by some WA pawnshops if I bought in Oregon id need to wait my 10 business days, either by shipping to a WA FFL or there in the OR shop, but I was told by the Oregon shops I could walk out with it same day if my background check cleared, which as far as I know it should 😅. Does anybody have any concrete answers or advice?
Suppressor just came in
One for self defense, and one for plinking cans off de fence. It’s been a fun journey, I think a Volq trigger system is next.
Firearm Legality
I am military and PCSing to JBLM. I am trying to figure out what firearms I can take with me.
There are a couple questions I would appreciate if someone could answer just to make sure I am above board.
- ARs are universally banned or are grandfathered if purchased before 2023? Does the grandfathering apply if purchased in another state (prior to 2023)?
- Are magazines purchased prior to 2023 and brought in from out of state grandfathered?
- What the actual hell is a "22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device"? Are 'high capacity' .22 mags allowed or is this a specific magazine type?
EDIT: Thank you everyone for the answers!
Question ?
is the Recover Tactical P-IX+ Modular AR Platform for Glock Pistols legal in Washington?
Gen 2 picked up for 400$
Picked up me a gen 2 for 400 how did I do
Just curious if anyone daily carries a revolver (open or concealed) in WA? If so please share the type and/or why that’s your preferred revolver. I’ve always carried semi auto handguns and have been considering expanding my arsenal to include one. It also helps most are 10 or less rounds so falls in state compliance.
Teaching Kids Responsibly
My parents were very anti-gun when I was a kid. Basically just don't even talk about them. I mostly went along with that for most of my life until I had kids of my own and felt like there ought to be something in the house if shit goes down. So I got some guns. And a safe and all that good stuff. Been spending a lot of time at the range and it's a great new hobby of mine.
I don't want to repeat the cycle and make them a juicy forbidden fruit, but obviously they are very dangerous. Also a little concerned about teenage years and the "my life sucks" phases that can happen. By then they'd know how to operate them and that could be very bad...
So people who grew up in "gun houses," how did your parents go about this, when did you become aware of them, how did you learn to respect their power, and things like that?
I read that about 42% of Washingtonians own guns. Have we organized politically? We need to start putting the heat on every elected official in this state so that they understand that we cherish *all* of the Bill of Rights - including the 2nd amendment. We can even swing the Dems if we push hard enough. Decades ago the NRA was successful at that. We need to make it clear that no matter which political party an elected representative belongs to; while having our rights threatened like this, only one issue is at the top of our list.
