Motor oil recommendations

Hey guys,
I need to change the motor oil in both my 260E and 190E 1.8 and don’t know which one will be the best to use…

I think that 15W-50 would be the best viscosity as I use the cars mostly from spring to autumn with only occasional drives when the weather gets nice in winter…

I want higher viscosity as I like to drive them real fast on the highway, which also means very high RPM…

Currently running Liqui Moly 10W-40 MoS2 in the 260E and MOL 10W-40 in the 190E… I always change the oil after 10 000km or a little sooner…

Thanks for your suggestions!

Golf GTI 5 seats in the benz

Was hungover scrolling FB Marketplace last weekend, and some cracked out looking guy just listed a full set of gti seats for €100.

I asked some questions about quality or if there was damage not visible in the photos and got told "come get them, bring cash, or they'll be gone in an hour".

Anyways I got my hanging ass outta bed and into the 190e in about 17 seconds and drove over to collect them.

He says " will all them fit in that car"

You bet your little crackhead ass they will.

Tetrised them in, drove home ( with a McDonald's stop for some much needed hangover nutrition) and got back into bed.

Next day I jimmied and curse the shit out of that seat but here we are. Albeit, only the front bolts( rear bolts were rusted and broken anyway in the OG seat).

Bam, comfy, low, adjustable, lumbar. You name it.

Get in to road test the seat ( as must be done for any work done on your car) and.....

Fecking seat belt doesn't fit. My re*arded self thought these things were universal.

Using the passenger buckle for now until I have the courage to pull the seat , weld the rear bolts and swap the buckles.

Anyways thanks for listening. Ama I guess.

New to the sub but just wanted to show my 190D to you all. Been restoring this car for the past 6 years and now just have her "finished" (As in driveable, a project is never done). She isn't the Cosworth, however it is wearing a genuine cosworth kit. If you want to know anything about the car and what I've done to it ask away. Hope you guys enjoy, from a young w201 enthusiast 🙏

My 2.0 1st gen 4 speed

Hello Lads.

I present you my box.

I own it for 8 years now. I'am the second owner. Purchased the car from a private Mercedes Collection in the Netherlands.

Is has 199,787 km 's on the clock. Only driving it when it is 15° + sunny and zero chance of rain.

Car is allmost originall, exept wheels and coilovers. And 2 pieces of exhaust and fuelfilter. Rest are genuine MB parts.

This is the car that embodies my childhood. The car that you walked some streets extra for as a kid, just to see if it is there.

190E Replaced Fuel Tank Strainer

I probably could have just cleaned the fuel strainer, but I decided it was worth waiting a few weeks to do the job properly.

This replacement comes with a new O-ring, which is essential – my old O-ring was almost non-existent, another good reason to replace the part.

If you have a 190E and haven’t looked at your fuel strainer in a while, it might be a good idea to check it. Doing it properly now means fewer issues down the road. Got mine on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GWZBLPMR

Coolant hose

Is it normal for this hose to look like this when the car is warm? I have the 2.0L m102 engine

Help • Center High Mount Stop Lamp Bracket

TLDR; does anyone know how to remove + replace the bracket that the center high mount stop lamp (yeah, the 3rd brake light…) slides onto? 🤷🏻‍♂️

———

1991 W201 2.6 🇺🇸

Surprisingly, I was able to remove the housing and separate the two parts without breaking the side tabs to replace the bulb (again… 🤬*)* with a higher-quality LED bulb.

What I didn’t notice when sliding the housing off, however, was that the driver’s side metal contact mount was broken / disintegrated / crumbled. As a stress point, I ain’t gonna try fixing it. 🙂‍↔️

Luckily, I was able to order the
“last one available in the world” (apparently) from my local MB dealer, and it’s currently en route from Germany. 🇩🇪

So, before I break something… any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

(Oh, and the black wire in the pics is the USB-C cable for my rear dash cam, mounted on top of the brake lamp housing.)

As always, thanks in advance.

Hello, I made a post earlier and deleted it, what I thought was that I had a faulty light switch, Position 2 disables the Foglights on Australian delivered models.

Does anyone have any idea how to re-activate this functionality? I know it's not strictly legal but I want to restore how it should be on a Euro model.

Car doesn't like to start when it's cold. When it warms up no problem starting

Have no idea what else to look at. Have done all the air lines, spark plugs, icv is working well, distributer and rotor cap are good, plug wires are newer.

Any help is appreciated

Recently bought this w201 190e and absolutely love it but there is one problem. The door panels are bent from years of exposure to the sun and look terrible, are there any ways to fixing it?

I was wondering who has the highest mileage M102 190e here (the 1.8, 2.0 or 2.3, NOT the M103 2.6 or the OM601 2.0/602 2.5), and what kind of works/maintenance did you do when it reached that mileage?

Hi! I've recently bought some rims for my 190e, some Japan Racing JR9 16x8 ET25. I am looking forward to put them on my 190e but i don't really know if i should be worried about it rubbing against the fender or be to wide. As i said on the title, my plan is to get some 225/50 wheels because its one of the few widths i can use because of laws on my country. So that would be the combo 16x8 ET25 and some 225/50, anyone knows if it would rub or if i need some spacers or something? I'm a bit new when it comes to wheels honestly. Thanks in advance!
