Was waiting to see if anybody else would post about this, I haven’t seen anything about it so I’m assuming it hasn’t really been enforced, but we got told by corporate that we are not allowed to say “welcome in” anymore. Which is so outrageous to me because I feel like half the bad reviews I see start with “I wasn’t greeted” so I’m assuming they still want us to greet people but to not say “welcome in”?? while also not giving alternatives. I feel like corporate lately has just been creating such random rules that just make it harder for workers, especially those on cashier. Another example being that water has to stay in the backrooms from now on.
Throughout my years at Ulta i’ve had gratis sorting change many time throughout the years. My first 2 rounds of gratis I was able to choose 7 products with only 3 being full size. After that my managers switched it to where they picked ours and gave us each a bag with our name on it. As of now my managers make mystery bags and have us choose one at random. I just wanna know how y’all think gratis should be done.
Personally all 3 ways we’ve done it have had pros and cons. If we pick our own gratis from the box, you risk people getting left with the scraps of samples. When managers hand pick specific bags, you risk favortism. And when you pick bags at random, you risk getting products that you can’t use (ex: a dark brunette getting a purple shampoo). It’s like any way we do it someone will find a way to be unhappy with what they get.
I truly wish ours should be set up like sephora where every employee chooses their gratis before it ships to the store. That way everyone can get the chance of getting nice products they would actually use.
Our hours were slashed at end of Q1 (allegedly due to costs of FLC but IMO was to boost Q1 profits), and now store management acts like they’re doing us this huge favor by offering more hours. The way we are treated here is something else. I’m just about ready to find a new PT job with more steady hours, and I’m tired of not feeling appreciated when most of us work extremely hard. Also them wanting completely open availability is a joke when we are lucky to get a couple shifts a week!
Ulta Beauty is facing a lawsuit after a New York City location allegedly refused service to a Black customer and her young daughter, sparking renewed concerns about discrimination in the beauty industry.
According to the complaint filed in the U.S.
District Court for the Southern District of New York, the incident occurred at an Upper East Side store where the mother and daughter had scheduled hair appointments ahead of a professional photoshoot.
Despite having confirmed bookings, they were reportedly turned away by a stylist who claimed she was not comfortable working with their "type" or "texture" of hair. The lawsuit further alleges that a store manager supported the refusal.
The plaintiffs argue that the reasoning given was a pretext for racial discrimination, noting that their hair was not even examined at the time of the incident. The case also points to New York regulations requiring licensed cosmetologists to be trained to work with all hair textures, strengthening claims that the refusal violated professional standards.
The lawsuit accuses Ulta Beauty of violating both New York State's Human Rights Law and federal civil rights protections, which prohibit discrimination based on race. As the case moves forward, it highlights ongoing disparities in access and inclusivity within the beauty and salon industry-an issue that has increasingly come under public scrutiny in recent years.
Posting this on a throw away account so I am anonymous: I’m a tasker and I’ve been working at my location longer than most of the other taskers. Most taskers at my location quit after a month or two, I’ve been here for 8 months. My managers always make me do trash and all of the other small monotonous tasks while the other taskers get to do planos, socialize together and scroll on their phones. I organize trash, I take out trash, I do top 50, pick bopis and ship from store. I clean up their back stock from planos. I feel so drained and like everyone is walking all over me. It’s like they pick favorites or something. Does anyone else go through this?
I just bought something from mixsoon and it didn’t apply any additional discount. I still bought it but I was wondering if there were any exclusions from the brands mentioned? Is the additional discount still happening?
Got this gratis a couple days ago and feel like i got pretty great bag! My store managers make all the gratis bags and have everyone randomly select one so i’m really excited i got a couple of full size items!
Hey all,
I’m finally choosing my mental health and quitting this dumpster fire of a job.
The experience at my store has been TOXIC.
Its cliquey, they pick and choose favorites, are bias asf, and never appreciated how hard I worked. I put my blood sweat and tears into this job and yet I was still treated like garbage by my coworkers and management. Despite being a good worker, they always assumed the worst in me and they never gave me the benefit of the doubt. And they were micro, aggressive with no regard for my safety as an employee.
Management seems to be running around with their heads cut off, the communication is terrible, the rules are incredibly inconsistent (do as I say not as I do), and they even talk crap about other people who don’t work there anymore.
I AM DONE.
Does anyone have any tips or things they wish they would’ve done when they quit???
Please let me know!
Last Monday (5/4) I decided to splurge on some skin care and bought several K Beauty products totaling ~$56. Prior to even scanning anything, I asked my manager if they were going to do any additional discounts for Asian owned/created products for Asian Heritage Month like they did last year, I was told, "I'm not too sure, nothings been announced, so not likely." So I proceeded to buy my items.
However, I just found out yesterday (from the same manager) that they're doing additional 25% off on participating K beauty brands; 5/10-5/16, my brand I bought is included. It would be an additional savings of ~$18.
Can I return and repurchase my same items or are they going to give me a hard time about it? I feel like my store can get a bit judgey at times about people trying to get deals or use coupons and stuff, but I'm just a tasker barely getting 10-14 hrs a week if I'm lucky and that savings is literally more than my pay 😩
I'm just wondering if it's even possible since she didn't just offer to even exchange or rebuy or whatever at the time of telling me about the upcoming promo since I had literally asked about that type of discount specifically.
Does anyone know the policy for this? 🫶🏼
Hi!! I started in March as a full time lead cashier, and I’m starting to struggle a little bit. I was unaware of how high the standard was for our personal metric numbers. My previous retail roles were not as strict, so I’m feeling a little stressed.
I recently got pulled for a chat by our sales manager, basically saying I need to get my numbers up as a lead cashier as I only had 16 cards last period. I completely understand where she’s coming from, I also want my numbers to be #1 on the period as I have the most transactions. I have no issues with loyalty sign ups and data capture, but it’s the apps per transaction that is getting me.
I usually mention first the amount they would save, and then go on to mention the points they would double, and then it’s the first “no thanks” that I can’t seem to get past. I try to always keep a bubbly personality, and then once it gets to the last few hours of my shift with no credit for the day I seem to get a bit burnt out.
Any help would be appreciated, I’d love to succeed in this role! I really love working for ulta so far, I’m just really trying to nail down the right pitch to get my numbers up!
Hi! As the title mentions, I’m just curious how much other stores were receiving. I see so many posts online from employees getting bags full of gratis, like 7+ items. Our store has the highest sales volume in our state yet each employee gets 1, MAYBE 2 items each period for gratis. A lot of the time if associates weren’t scheduled in time to pick their gratis, they just won’t receive any.
It just feels a little off to me!
Has anyone else have an increase in guests coming in looking for products from those tiktok ai videos? Honestly it makes me quite sad because all of those videos target people with “mature skin,” I.e. older people who have a harder time telling it’s ai. How do yall deal with it? I usually tell them we don’t carry the product and suggest something else, but most of the time the guest gets upset and say clearly we carry it because this video shows that we do. Meanwhile it’s a completely nonsensical ai generated ulta they’re showing me 😭 I feel like it’s only going to get worse too.
I got hired late April as a task associate and did my onboarding two weeks ago. Today was my first shift on the floor. Is it normal to do planograms on your first day? My manager quickly explained to me how to do it and gave me five different planograms to work on. It wasn’t too bad just very tedious. I’m curious what others did on their first day as a task associate.
So I’ve always wanted to work at Ulta , literally since I was a teenager. I finally got hired as a task associate after years of applying. Well it’s not really what I expected. The whole team is quiet, nobody really talks, it’s just a very lonely environment tbh and it doesn’t feel welcoming. Is transferring to beauty advisor a thing? Can I do that? Obviously I would wait a few months but I want to connect with people and my coworkers but that seems impossible with taskers.
I’m an SM and my one paycheck doesn’t even cover my rent. I’m forced to cut hours and then I’m doing the jobs of multiple people. They want cards but cut hours so we can’t provide the customer service that they want to achieve that goal. They think “filling the fridge” is an incentive but my previous company just had a monthly budget for that.
The new ceo is the reason we have ai. We also didn’t get good raises despite gas becoming unaffordable. Rent, gas, and groceries are going up, but at least all the general managers got to see Jason Derulo and Selena Gomez. Just to have the GM come back and brag about everything while we all had to pick up the slack.
I’m tired of these companies normalizing spoiling the GM over everyone else. So the GM is the only one who can be financially comfortable. While our best employees leave because their hours get cut.
I’m exhausted and disappointed.
Hi everyone! I’m a PBA at an ulta and i plan on getting another job pretty soon. i spoke to one of my managers about switching over to tasking and asked me how my loyalty/card numbers are. she then told me that i can’t do a position transfer if my numbers are bad (which they are lol). does anyone know if this is actually true? taskers don’t even really ring people up and they primarily work while the store isn’t open???
Hot take. It’s the worse position Ulta has created. While I’m sure it’s my location… I’m over them. My bunkers are always a mess, things are restocked incorrectly or just massively over stocked. I’ve talked to the MM and OM and they just thank me for my feed back but nothing changes. I’m actually going to pull my hair out at this point. Restock Estee? Not when all the foundations are in no order and across three bunkers.
When truck was done by BAs and PBAs this wasn’t an issue.
Vent over.
I called out this whole weekend for a family emergency. Today that I called in my manager asked why I called in Fri i told her my mom had planned a last min trip for mother's day but we ended up not going due to a family emergency. Is my manager allowed to ask ? she wasnt the one who answered Friday when I called out it was another manager. She then asked when can we expect u back i was like tomorrow no I'm sorry or I hope everything is ok like ???
