Online, left-wingers are far more insufferable than right-wingers

While I have met my fair share of insufferable right wingers in real life, (It is not always easy being the only atheist in your entire family) I've found that, online, left-wingers are far more bothersome to deal with.

You see...In politics, it's how you deliver your message that matters more than the message itself. If you come across as overly preachy, hostile, "in-your-face" and generally exhausting to be around, you will always lose out to someone like Donald Trump who, in spite of being your typical rich guy who is too full of himself, has at least some charisma. Online leftists, especially the ones on this site, are about as charismatic as a wet tissue. Here are my primary issues with them:

1. They are hostile towards centrists.

A while ago, I made a post here titled "If you cannot coexist with those who voted for the other party, you need to touch grass." Immediately, I was accused of being an angry right-winger and called every buzzword you can think of: p3dophile, 1ncel, etc. Meanwhile, I did not experience ANY uncivil behavior from the other side. (Take a look for yourself if you do not believe me).

This has been my overall experiences on other sites as well. A few weeks ago, I engaged in a debate with someone who was extremely far-right—and even though I heavily disagreed with the points he made, (Which would not be out of place in 4Chan's /pol/ board) he remained perfectly civil throughout. Meanwhile, all leftists have done is screech at me and try to shame me into siding with them. "Silence is violence!"

2.They engage in constant in-fighting and ideological "purity tests."

While the right remains stagnant in its beliefs, the left constantly shifts the goalposts and conducts yearly purges of its adherents. Even if you agree with the 99% of left-wing dogma, you will immediately be labeled right-wing if you do not support whatever is the "Current Thing" is. Essentially, today's progressive is tomorrow's national socialist. (Take what happened to a certain author, for example).

I, myself, am more economically left-wing than right-wing. However, 99% of left-wingers I've met on various forums utterely DESPISE me because I'm against progressive ideology and do not champion non-issues that affect less than 1% of the population.

3. They tend to be highly vindictive and make their politics their entire identity. Unless I happen to visit a community that centers itself around right-wing ideology or is based around sharing one's opinions on various matters, (Such as this one) right-wingers will seldom make themselves known. Meanwhile, I've seen left-wingers bring their views into EVERY SINGLE type of online space. The other day, I saw a picture of Mr. Orange in a sub that's about discussing fun media tropes. If there's one type of person I cannot stand, it's an annoying "activist" who keeps on yapping non-stop like they're a Jehovah's Witness who just arrived at your doorstep. The more you demand I care about something, the less I will actually care about it.

4. They're far more authoritarian than their counterparts. While yes, there are plenty of authoritarian politicians on the right, this thread is not about that—but rather about the difference between how the two groups act on the internet. From what I've seen, left-wing spaces tend to care more about creating so-called "safe spaces" rather than an environment that fosters free speech.

5. They act like perpetual victims. The way some of them talk, one would think they're living in Germany during the 1940s. Everything is some kind of attack on their "right to exist" or something. Meanwhile, 90% of them are college-educated, upper middle-class 20-somethings with too much time on their hands.

Basically, what I am trying to say is: As someone who has NEVER voted in his life and never plans to, I would much rather be friends with right-wingers than with left-wingers online based solely on how they behave.

The term “objectification” is abused and is used demonize men for actions that are harmless

I always hear how women are constantly victims of "objectification" and how it’s one of the most dehumanizing aspect of the female experience. The logic is that when men focus on a woman's body, they are reducing her to a "walking fleshlight." This sentiment has reached a point where women now explicitly reject cold approaches, the reasoning being that because a man knows nothing of their personality, his only possible motivation for speaking to them is a shallow, dehumanizing value of her physical form. For whatever reason you believe this sounds reasonable it is a complete mischaracterization of male intent and experience.

Imagine you are at the gym playing pickup basketball. You see a guy who seems like he is really good and you immediately want him on your team. You don't know his life story, his desires, his motivations, what type of personality he has. All you assume is that he is good at the game. In this scenario, no one would accuse you of "objectifying" him or treating him like a "basketball-playing robot." It would be nonsensical. Even if you eventually get to know him and realize you don’t just don’t actually like him as a person. Assume you don’t have the same sense of humor, you find his style of conversation boring, or he isn’t intelligent in a way that you would stimulate you the way want in a friend. It isn’t a moral failing to still want to play basketball with him. You are valuing a specific trait for a specific activity.

So why is this logic abandoned when it comes to sex? It’s not like this isn’t something women don’t understand. They’re capable of experiencing physical attraction. They know what it’s like to only know someone is physically attractive while simultaneously not viewing them as an object. If a person wants to engage in a specific activity with you that they find enjoyable, why would you ever assume they are necessarily "refusing to acknowledge" your personality, your humanity? And assuming they are indifferent, or even have a negative reaction to your personality, who cares?

You might have a personal preference to be valued for your mind, but a man’s lack of interest in your personality isn't a "moral failing." It’s simply a lack of care or potentially knowledge of traits that are irrelevant to the immediate activity. A man approaches you because he thinks you’re hot, ok. This isn’t dehumanizing. He isn't denying you your rights or your personhood. He isn't trying to cause you harm in fact, he wants to engage with you because you are a human capable of that interaction.

So, why is this labeled as "evil"? This might be a little off topic but if we’re being honest it’s a tool that allows women with less motivation for sex than men a way to hold men accountable and shame male nature. You have to think about this lol. Women get approached for sex and are complimented so often they are repulsed by it. You can’t say “it’s bad for someone to be physically attracted to me”. No one would take a claim like that seriously. By labeling visual attraction as "objectification" and "dehumanizing," society creates a mechanism to shame men into compliance. Which in turn allows women to shame the male gaze when it's unwanted while still engaging in sex on their own terms when they choose.

Black people CAN be racist

I see a lot of progressives saying black people cannot be racist and that is completely false. Black people absolutely can be racist. But it also depends on what you define as racist. If you’re saying it’s where someone benefit from being racist because the institution, then black people cannot be racist.

But I define racism as being prejudiced against a certain group simply because of the color of their skin. So by that definition black people can be racist.

A theoretical example of why black people can be racist is if a group of black guys beat up a white guy simply because he is white that is racism. You’re harming another person simply because of the color of their skin.

I am NOT saying that all black people are evil or anything like that in this post. I am half black myself.

immigrants need to integrate and adapt into american culture

some of you might be tempted to say “America doesn’t have a culture, it was built by immigrants around the world”

and you would be right. america is a melting pot. but we can’t be a melting pot if NOTHING MELTS.

to come to america just to stay with your own racial/ethnic group, refuse to learn the language and accept the social norms is ridiculous.

this doesn’t mean completely abandon your religion, personal beliefs etc. america is generally a very accepting country (freedom of religion, speech, to gather…) to ensure that no matter who you are, it’s possible to find a place to belong in american society because it was built by immigrants for immigrants

but everyone needs to compromise a little and try to melt into each other

DEI is by itself racist and sexist.

DEI (hiring off of race because you need “diversity” in your workplace) is by itself, racist. We should really be hiring off of skill and overall suitability than the color of someone’s skin. A guy who is white and has a lot of technical skill MAY be turned down by someone who is hiring for someone who is black simply because they are black. (NOT SAYING BLACK PEOPLE ARE BAD OR ANYTHING RACIST, IM SAYING THAT DEI IS RACIST)

DEI is racist because it turns hiring based off of skill into hiring based on skin color. The reason DEI is bad is because it helps certain ethnic groups while making others suffer. Like DEI may literally refuse someone because “ew white male christian we don’t want that here”

I literally heard someone say that a trick to being hired is to say that you have autism in your interview and walk into a wall on your way out or something. (He got the job)

You could be a man and not get a job because the DEI program says you shouldn’t, but you could be a woman with the same exact resume and skill and still get the job because you’re a woman

(I am not saying that white people are oppressed in any way, just saying that DEI is literally racism at its finest)

The decline in alcohol consumption among younger generations is not entirely good news

Before people jump on me: yes, excessive drinking is harmful. Alcohol abuse is linked to real health problems, addiction, and accidents. If fewer people are binge drinking, that is clearly a good thing. But looking at this trend only through a health lens is incomplete and maybe even misleading.

What concerns me is the context around the decline. It does not seem like young people replaced drinking with equally rich social habits. It feels more like they are socializing less overall. Fewer in-person gatherings, more time online, more reported loneliness. Drinking used to be part of shared rituals like dinners, celebrations, and casual meetups, and those rituals themselves seem weaker now.

There is also a strong “optimize everything” mindset. Sleep, productivity, fitness, mental performance. Alcohol does not fit into that framework, so it gets removed. But that also removes spontaneity and imperfection, which are part of what makes social life meaningful. Not everything valuable is efficient.

Alcohol in moderation has historically helped lower social barriers and make people more open and relaxed. Without a clear substitute, I am not convinced we are building stronger connections. If anything, relationships feel more cautious and transactional. At the same time, I am not sure harmful behaviors are actually decreasing. It may just be a shift toward screens, isolation, or other coping mechanisms.

There is also a basic economic angle. Going out is expensive, and many young people have less disposable income and more pressure. Drinking less in that context is not necessarily a cultural improvement.

So yes, less alcohol consumption is not inherently bad. But treating it as simple progress ignores the bigger picture. It may reflect a generation that is more isolated, more risk-averse, and under more pressure.

The vast majority of redditors are incredibly myopic and narrow minded. If an idea I share anywhere on reddit gets down voted I usually consider this a sign that im on to something

I’m serious, redditors basically lack any imagination, creativity, or ability to consider unique ideas. I wouldnt mind if their attacks were well thought out and genuienly challenge the idea; but 98% of the time its like the haven’t even read what’s proposed and just present arguments against what ever pre existing notions in their tiny heads maps closest to the idea presented. For any good ideas, the nearist mapping existing thoughts are usually pretty far away.

If something is shared and gets a lot of upvotes, I usually consider it a sign that it’s too derivative an idea to be important or it serves the interests of existing power structures.

Men wanna provide and protect, just not those who disrespect them

Men aren’t scared of providing and protecting, most actually want to. It’s in their nature to build, support, and look after someone they care about. The problem is, that instinct dies real quick when it’s met with disrespect, bitterness, and constant negativity. Why would any man go all in for someone who belittles him, doesn’t appreciate him, and treats him like he’s replaceable? Providing isn’t just about money, it’s about effort, loyalty, and protection but that’s earned through mutual respect. You can’t expect “traditional” treatment while acting entitled, causing issues, being disrespectful and an entirely disgusting human being that doesn’t even like the man. Respect goes both ways, or don’t be surprised when he keeps his effort to himself and gives it to someone that actually likes him.

Women say the standard for men to date is really low, Men say it is insanely high, they are both correct.

I think both sentiments are true, And that is because the 2 parties are talking about different things.

Obviously not all, but Women are talking about the standard to maintain a relationship , Which is truly very low, just take care of yourself and your women and do not be a violent POS and listen when she talks and you will be above most guys.

and also not all but Men are talking about the standard to enter or initiate a relationship in the first place , Which is indeed very high, she needs to be attracted to you in the first place, you need to find the magical balance between being charismatic and assertive without being creepy or overwhelming her, you probably should have a decent job, and in the world of online dating women have tons of options, she literally can swipe a screen and have a guy flirt with her,you need to lead a conversation and still have to let her talk about herself, it is anything but easy.

My advice as an average guy in my early 30s, and this is just from my experience, what helped most is you gotta chance your circles,Ladies correct me but i think this applies to women as well, if you constantly getting no success or awful dates, you need to change avenues, hang out at new places, hang out with your other group of friends, I'd also advice getting off online dating, real life is a lot simpler IMO, of course this is easier said than done but these are just my 2 cents .

I can't help but think "yes, all men" was specifically made to sabotage the movement

This had to be a troll or someone who intended to sabotage the movement. And it seems to have been fairly effective because it caught on and a lot of people have said it, unironically.

They will go to great lengths to try to argue that it's not a bigoted remark even though it clearly is.

It has effectively shown how hateful toward men the movement can be and how incredibly easy it is to brainwash people into saying something hateful

Too many (not all) modern "progressives", particularly on Reddit (but also USA in general) are often simply ridiculous.

You know what's actually offensive and racist?

When you get offended on behalf on people from other cultures (which you are completely ignorant about) as if they are not capable of judging what they should be offended by on their own and they need you to lecture them.

When you are so privileged (despite constantly complaining about said privilege) that you have to invent problems just to make yourself feel like a better person under the disguise of activism, such as the term "latinx" (admittedly, this is an extreme and no one cares about it in reality, not even on Reddit, but I'm just trying to make a point) from native English speakers who are too ignorant to realize that grammar in different languages works differently and that this is not (designed to be) offensive.

When you group "people of color" together as if they have anything to do in common just because they're "non-white", a categorization which implies "white" to be the default.

When you are so obsessed with skin color that you immediately categorize people based on that of all things, so your language and overall behavior suddenly switch to a different mode when interacting with them. When you don't even treat your "friends" with different skin color as real friends like you do with your other friends, but as tokens, because you see their entire existence as a political issue and an opportunity for your patronizing savior complex nonsense and bizarre whining and pitying, as if those people's entire personality is limited to their skin color, as if they're not capable of anything more and as if they need your constant sympathies and being put on a pedestal like special snowflakes.

When you act like plain "white" is an applicable category everywhere outside of America and you automatically apply American history, problems and concepts (which are real things that I acknowledge and sympathize with, as should the entire world) like "white privilege" as if there is no such thing as monoethnic countries where being "white" is therefore a complete non-factor (because literally everyone is white in these plces and always has been), then proceed to dismiss not only people's opinions, but more like their entire existence and all their real struggles in life on the basis of (your assumption of) their skin color. This is your idea of an "anti-racism" campaign?

Before the inevitable generalizations from self-proclaimed open-minded people show up, I'm left-wing in every way, just not this often ridiculous and hypocritical American left-wing which doesn't even seem to really care about fundamental or just real left-wing issues and instead hyperfocuses on the weirdest semantics which achieve nothing other than further alienation and division, ironically.

I remember when people weren't this divided and radicalized. For example, when the concepts of what it means to be a "real men" and a "real women" were condemned for being outdated stereotypes, when the end goal was to be your own human being whose personality, interests and so on are not defined by being a man or a woman, but now, these modern "progressives" are suddenly doubling down on all that typically conservative nonsense, and even coming up with even more such arbitrary categorizations and stereotypes. This does not align with the left-wing ideals and beliefs that I have known and supported my whole life, at all. It feels like going backwards.

Make no mistake, the right-wing is also especially radicalized these days, especially in America, too, and nothing I'm saying here would make me switch over to that side, neither would I ever recommend that. I'm not a right-wing ally and I don't want to be identified as such by bad actors. I had to write this disclaimer simply because, again, some of these people are so open-minded that they live by this "with us or against us" limited mentality characterized by a lack of critical thinking skills and real arguments, just like a typical right-winger... Ironic.

If you saw the actual people giving out free advice on reddit, you wouldn't use reddit

Reddit has some very confident voices giving out advice and a range of things. But the most confident voices are the least qualified to give out advice.

For instance, you have incels and femcels and other low-social-interaction people giving out dating and marriage advice.

Pedos with circumcision fetishes giving advice on circumcisions to parents (yes, this happened).

Posers with no college giving out legal advice. (one of the most prolific yet now banned users on a legal advice sub turned out to be a web developer with a GED).

One might even be able to generalize this to the internet in general. Is society falling apart in part because for years people have taken catastrophically bad advice from the internet?

If you met these people in person, you'd probably rage quit reddit.

Voter ID is fine but it should be free and easy to obtain

The primary issue with voter ID is that it excludes individuals who don't have the time/money to get one. Therefore, it systematically underrepresents the lower class.

Voter ID should be free and obtainable in a short period of time, so the single mom working 3 jobs to support her 5 kids still gets to vote.

There’s nothing wrong with someone believing that their deceased family member or friend is in heaven

Whether it’s true or not , literally doesn’t matter . It’s no harm no foul. The image of a guy literally believing that his grandmother Lucy is in perfect peace and bliss is a great thing to think of for those who wish to believe . And considering the fact that no one knows what happens after death then it truly is no issue with believing in that . And for those who are naturalist and believe that once we die we are unconscious forever there is nothing wrong with believing in that idea.

However, it’s important for people not to force their beliefs on anyone and allow everyone to believe in whatever they wish to believe .

So if you are grieving and your believing that your deceased family member or friend is right now in heaven then go ahead and believe . It’s positive anyway.

Many women that complains about not having a partner are unwilling to get one.

I’ve had the opportunity to TRY to talk with these kind of women that usually complain nonstop about not having a partner or not getting hit on and they basically don’t respond to anything.

It happened online on other sites, here on Reddit or in real life, I’ve never ever encountered many problems engaging with “normal” women, but when it comes to these girls they just brush off every single opportunity they have and I think it’s because they don’t want a solution, they just want to keep complaining.

I’m explicitly talking about women that complain about not being able to find a man. Obviously this DOES NOT apply to all women, lmao.

The working class is in a much better position to replace capitalists with AI than the owning class is to replace workers with AI.

Effectively managing and directing resources is basically an entirely spread sheet based activity. It's the kind of thing for which a vast amount of training data exists, and it would be easy to run RL on this kind of task.

consider the other hand trying to train an AI robot system to be a plumber by comparison. It's a complete non-starter at our current tech level. similar with most working class positions.

An AI system that decides how and where resources are distributed might even be much better at allocating resources than a market. its decisions and reasoning tokens could be open and auditable by all and could be challenged by anyone.

This would stand in stark contrast to our opaque system that distributes 99% of avalible resources to only a few % of the population.

It would be incredibly ironic if the systems that capitalists created in an attempt to discard workers ended up being the exact systems needed to actually make communism work effectively. No one thought AI would be making art before doing manual labour. Maybe this could be a similarly surprising turn in its development.

We (our generation) are creating less impressive works of art, media and entertainment, and it is mostly due to the insurmountable instruments at ou disposal.

You know, I've seen conversations about how the quality in anime today doesn't touch the level from the late 80's until the early 2000's and there were animators that said they don't know how to make 2D animations on paper anymore since everything is done digitally now and most, if not all, of the people that were animating back then have retired and new cost effective pipelines have been incorporated since then.

It's the same with film and shooting on 35mm over digital. Lighting looks a lot worse than even the average films from 15-30 years ago, let alone color grading.

When they used to shoot on film they had a finite amount of it, so they had to prepare extremely well and be precise before saying "Action!".

Then they would find out if the footage came out right during the dailies.

With digital you just shoot and see how the takes came out on the screen, so it's a lot more convenient and if there are problems you just shoot again without pause.

I'm an illustrator and in the beginning I was working traditionally, then moved to digital when I started to do freelance and got good at that.

In the last year I've been doing murals and painting on cars because A.I has infested the digital market and this tech will 110% make people more stupid if it's adopted (hopefully not).

The better the tech, the less skill is required and you're simply not evolving as an artist because you're not required to use the part of your brain that's supposed to find solutions for problems anymore.

As for sculpting, there are great ones out there, but for some reason sports teams seem to choose less skilled ones when it comes time to honor their GOATS.

The fact that ancient peoples like the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Indians, and Native americans were able to do a better job on marble/rough stone is mimd bogglingly incredible.

Or maybe it's a lot harder to sculpt in in some certain metals or alloys than other materials. I can't say for sure since it's not my area, but these are pretty embarrassing in terms of likeness.

Now, with AI, we will soon begin to lose the ability ro create any artwork worth appreciating.

I’m sick of pop culture media analysis being reduced to “is it woke or not woke”

I just don’t care! I do not care what the political messaging is. I certainly don’t care what fuck shit opinions actors and directors have expressed. All I care about is that the writing is good, the soundtrack is good, the special effects are good, the dialogue is good, the graphics are good, the gameplay is enjoyable, the animation is good, etc etc etc. but no one wants to talk about any of this anymore. It’s all “is it woke?” Not even good analysis of political themes, just “I disagree with the politics, I find it too woke, therefore bad” I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care. If you can’t tell me whether the media I want to consume is good based on actual metrics fuck your useless analysis! I don’t CARE if it’s woke or not! I just want to know if it’s good based on traditional metrics that professional critics used prior to the rise of the basement dweller social media critic.

The absolute hysteria over AI on this site is getting embarrassing

I figured I would treat you fellas to a proper unpopular reddit opinion:

It’s hilarious to me that one of the most tech-forward corners of the internet has pivoted into a full blown Luddite cult. People here treat the mere mention of AI like it’s "the technology which shall not be named."

AI is functional tech that is already being baked into every piece of software we use. While everyone is busy screaming "AI SLOP" into the void, the rest of the world has already moved on and is actually using it.

Judging AI by some weird-looking fingers or a bad bot post today is like looking at dial-up and saying the internet would never catch on. We’re at the start of the messy, early majority phase. Give it 2 or 3 years and it’ll be as mundane as a smartphone. Most of the people complaining right now will be using it daily and won't even notice.

To summarize, the pearl-clutching is just exhausting. It’s here, it’s staying, and no amount of "reddit moments" will put it back in the box. You can either learn to use the tools or spend the next decade being like my grandparents who we need to tape off buttons on the TV remote for.
