Online, left-wingers are far more insufferable than right-wingers
While I have met my fair share of insufferable right wingers in real life, (It is not always easy being the only atheist in your entire family) I've found that, online, left-wingers are far more bothersome to deal with.
You see...In politics, it's how you deliver your message that matters more than the message itself. If you come across as overly preachy, hostile, "in-your-face" and generally exhausting to be around, you will always lose out to someone like Donald Trump who, in spite of being your typical rich guy who is too full of himself, has at least some charisma. Online leftists, especially the ones on this site, are about as charismatic as a wet tissue. Here are my primary issues with them:
1. They are hostile towards centrists.
A while ago, I made a post here titled "If you cannot coexist with those who voted for the other party, you need to touch grass." Immediately, I was accused of being an angry right-winger and called every buzzword you can think of: p3dophile, 1ncel, etc. Meanwhile, I did not experience ANY uncivil behavior from the other side. (Take a look for yourself if you do not believe me).
This has been my overall experiences on other sites as well. A few weeks ago, I engaged in a debate with someone who was extremely far-right—and even though I heavily disagreed with the points he made, (Which would not be out of place in 4Chan's /pol/ board) he remained perfectly civil throughout. Meanwhile, all leftists have done is screech at me and try to shame me into siding with them. "Silence is violence!"
2.They engage in constant in-fighting and ideological "purity tests."
While the right remains stagnant in its beliefs, the left constantly shifts the goalposts and conducts yearly purges of its adherents. Even if you agree with the 99% of left-wing dogma, you will immediately be labeled right-wing if you do not support whatever is the "Current Thing" is. Essentially, today's progressive is tomorrow's national socialist. (Take what happened to a certain author, for example).
I, myself, am more economically left-wing than right-wing. However, 99% of left-wingers I've met on various forums utterely DESPISE me because I'm against progressive ideology and do not champion non-issues that affect less than 1% of the population.
3. They tend to be highly vindictive and make their politics their entire identity. Unless I happen to visit a community that centers itself around right-wing ideology or is based around sharing one's opinions on various matters, (Such as this one) right-wingers will seldom make themselves known. Meanwhile, I've seen left-wingers bring their views into EVERY SINGLE type of online space. The other day, I saw a picture of Mr. Orange in a sub that's about discussing fun media tropes. If there's one type of person I cannot stand, it's an annoying "activist" who keeps on yapping non-stop like they're a Jehovah's Witness who just arrived at your doorstep. The more you demand I care about something, the less I will actually care about it.
4. They're far more authoritarian than their counterparts. While yes, there are plenty of authoritarian politicians on the right, this thread is not about that—but rather about the difference between how the two groups act on the internet. From what I've seen, left-wing spaces tend to care more about creating so-called "safe spaces" rather than an environment that fosters free speech.
5. They act like perpetual victims. The way some of them talk, one would think they're living in Germany during the 1940s. Everything is some kind of attack on their "right to exist" or something. Meanwhile, 90% of them are college-educated, upper middle-class 20-somethings with too much time on their hands.
Basically, what I am trying to say is: As someone who has NEVER voted in his life and never plans to, I would much rather be friends with right-wingers than with left-wingers online based solely on how they behave.
