I’ve been noticing these roadside vendors selling drinks and other items right in the middle of traffic or along busy roads.

On one hand, I respect the hustle and understand that people are trying to make an honest living. It can also be convenient to grab something quickly while you’re stopped.

On the other hand, it sometimes feels a bit unsafe for both the vendors and drivers especially when they’re weaving between cars or standing close to moving traffic.

I’m curious how others feel about this.

Do you support roadside vendors, avoid them, or think there should be more regulation?

Would love to hear different perspectives.

If you had the opportunity to move to America right now would you?

I live in america and I've been here for over 20 years, however I have absolutely no family living here. My dad was born in Trinidad and my mom Jamaica. Over the past 20 years neither one of my parents have tried to secured my papers and with the current administration I fear being deported every day, my parents were able to sponsor me last year but thats still a 10 year wait.

I know I still have the marriage route but as of right now I'm single and have been turned down 2 times in my last 2 relationships when I asked to be sponsored. Lately ive had the urge to further my degree and move out of america and either study abroad or get a work visa. I've also been feeling like I want to visit trinidad as basically all my family is there and I haven't seen anyone in over 20 years. If the crime wasn't so bad I guess I'd actually move back home.

If you had the opportunity to move to america would you? Or would you stay in trindad? What would you do if you were in my shoes? Stay and wait out a petition or leave and start a new life?

I came across this Guardian article while reading the morning news: State of Emergency or State of Perception: Why T&T is Scaring Away Its Own Success (https://www.guardian.co.tt/article/state-of-emergency-or-state-of-perception-why-tt-is-scaring-away-its-own-success-6.2.2576265.1f103c78e3) The Article

It argues that our frequent States of Emergency (SoEs) are hurting Trinidad and Tobago’s global image. Every SoE triggers travel advisories and headlines that make us look like one of the “most dangerous countries,” even ranking us above Syria in some lists. The author says perception becomes reality tourists cancel trips, investors hesitate, and our Carnival and culture get overshadowed by fear-driven messaging.

The question is: are SoEs truly necessary for safety, or are they undermining our brand and economy in the long run?

Curious to hear what others think, valid concern or just media spin?

Greediness is a hell of a thing. You’d prefer to full your pockets with collecting rent than satisfy your customers with proper space?

The last time, I visited this place was around 2-3 years ago. Today, I accompanied a relative to this supermarket after so long as their prices are supposedly cheaper than other groceries. I was there for pushing the trolley, picking up items and lifting the heavy items.

Every lane I went through, I had to wait for someone to move (it could be 15 seconds or a whole minute) or finish picking up their items to leave the lane. I accidentally pushed the trolley (not hard, sorta hit them 💀😭) into a staff who was packing items on the shelves, and into a man who was at the end of lane. I did apologize. At least, two - three lanes had a fuckass pole in the near end, Trolleys could fit through one side which meant waiting again, sometimes.

When staffs are packing, you’ve to wait for people to finish pick up their items to go through that side. Understandable, as it isn’t the staff’s fault. Sometimes, there are people who are getting items on the right side of the lane and have their trolley to the damn side of them which I had to wait for. 😤

The section to go to the saltfish/smoke herring, onion and garlic section in the back is like a fucking fish market. The storage section is right there so staffs would need to exit the same section so you would have to wait again to leave. The meat area has a gross smell, even their staffs have received complaints about it in the past. The last time, I was there, my mother and I picked up dog meat so I remember the scent.

I’m sure, it’s visible that people struggle with going through the lanes as it’s pretty small, you’ve to wait for someone to leave and then you can leave.

Why wasn’t widening the item lanes, a priority? Why wasn’t widening the cashing lanes, a priority? Why wasn’t more space for more cashiers and more packers, a priority? Why wasn’t proper ventilation for the meat room, a priority? If there is an earthquake, is the only exit, the entrance area? (Pricesmart too, if there is an earthquake and those fridges and heavy items up top fall on us?) Why wasn’t customers safety and comfort, a priority? Greediness is a hell of a thing. You’d prefer to full your pockets with collecting rent than satisfy your customers with proper space?

I’m going to delete this. It just has me so mad. Not even leaving a review could make me feel better 😹

The UFO files got me thinking about Trini folklore and unexplained things

Hey guys, happy Friday. So the White House released the UFO files today and I just had to post this memes here. Such Trini humor 😅.

Anyways, this got me thinking about how different cultures interpret unexplained things. In Trinidad we grow up hearing stories about soucouyants, lagahoos, douens, La diabless , lights in the bush, things people “see” on lonely roads in the night, especially by the caroni cremation site.. I still fraid to drive there in the night.

Even if you don’t literally believe them, almost every family has at least one serious storyteller who swears they experienced something strange. I had a distant uncle who would scare us kids about a La diabless living by them in charlieville or chaguanas, can’t remember.

Now in 2026 the US government is publicly releasing UFO related material and pilots around the world have reported seeing unexplained aerial phenomena. It’s not like it’s shocking to me, I believe the US gov’t tells the US, and by extention the world what they want the them to believe.
So I’m just curious… how do Trinis interpret these things?
Do you think extraterrestrial life probably exists somewhere?

UFOs are just military tech/misidentifications?

folklore and “jumbie stories” come from psychological/cultural explanations?

or do you think humans genuinely experience things we still can’t explain?

Also… anybody family have a story they swear is real? 😭

What sports are most popular in Trinidad & Tobago right now?

Genuine question—what are people actually watching these days in Trinidad & Tobago?

Is it still mainly cricket and football, or have sports like NBA, UFC, F1, etc. taken over more than people think?

People Who Park in Disabled Spots Illegally Should Be Fined Heavily

People who park in disabled parking spots when they’re not disabled should be heavily fined in Trinidad and Tobago.

Those spots are not “just for a quick minute.” They exist because some people genuinely need easier access to buildings and services.

Too many times you see fully able-bodied people park there because they “running in fast” while disabled people or elderly citizens have to struggle.

That level of selfishness deserves consequences.

If there’s no real enforcement, people will keep doing it. Fine them properly and tow repeat offenders too.

Basic respect and consideration for others shouldn’t be optional.

Recently, my (20F) cousin (15F) opened up to me that she is being sexually abused in her home. I won’t go into details, but it’s not possible for her to stay there. I live with my parents and don’t think they would allow her to live with us permanently. Are there any homes specifically for sexual abuse survivors, or just any home in general, that are safe for her to go? She hasn’t even written CSEC yet, so I really want a place where she can continue her education and can properly provide for her. Thank you!

Looking for Trinidadian music, film and tv

I’m half trini and I’ve always been a bit disconnected from that side of myself. I want to get more immersed into the culture. So I’d really appreciate if anyone could recommend me any music, movies, or shows that you might consider classics.
