Diorama crafted for Strider!

Wanted to recreate the introduction of Aragorn in a detolf for a while now but just could not figure out how to do it in a detolf. Took 3 weeks and this is the end result and my visual representation of the book. Tavern carved with XPS and it was my first time using this material. Fireplace, table and bench designed and 3D printed LEDs programmed to give of candle flickering effect and smoldering effect for the fireplace. Added a backlight to recreate the moonlit luminescence. Entire thing has been painted with 4 colours, brown, white, black and green. Just mixed in different proportions for different shades. Fun project. More of my work here....

"And they made letters and scrolls and books, and wrote in them many things of wisdom and wonder in the high tide of their realm, of which all is now forgot."

This new game, Scriptorium, lets you create medieval manuscripts. I've been using the stories from the Silmarillion as inspiration while pretending that I'm a loremaster somewhere in Middle-Earth.

Perhaps more talented people than I can take this to the next level :)

Gondolin student animation (4k, no AI)

Yes, the opening shot is a recreation of the painting by Ted Nasmith :)

This was a massive project for us, and even though it’s just a few seconds of final animated footage, I’m super proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, especially since some of us were basically total beginners when we started out.

I knew I wanted to do a primarily environment focused project that touched on as many aspects of 3d animation as possible without it getting too overwhelming. It also needed to be something that we all have a connection with.

We’re all Tolkien fans, but I didn’t necessarily want to do any of the locations from the PJ trilogy, since I felt there are already many awesome fan-made and professionally made versions of those.

You Shall Not Pass - The Lord of the Rings Fanart by Reza Afshar

Artist Reza Afshar drew the iconic scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring where Gandalf confronted Balrog, and yelled "You shall not pass!"

Amazing colors!

Best Smaug for a tattoo?

Hi guys, I’ll be doing a new tattoo this Friday and it’s gonna be a Smaug as drawn by Tolkien. I’m not sure which version to use, though. They’re both so iconic, simple and cool… Any advice? Is there another cool version I haven’t considered?

TIA
