Yes, the opening shot is a recreation of the painting by Ted Nasmith :)

This was a massive project for us, and even though it’s just a few seconds of final animated footage, I’m super proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, especially since some of us were basically total beginners when we started out.

I knew I wanted to do a primarily environment focused project that touched on as many aspects of 3d animation as possible without it getting too overwhelming. It also needed to be something that we all have a connection with. 

We’re all Tolkien fans, but I didn’t necessarily want to do any of the locations from the PJ trilogy, since I felt there are already many awesome fan-made and professionally made versions of those.
