After months of consideration and searching for the "one" ultimate writing device I have settled for this cute device.

So excited!!

Cases & Skin Options?

I know the BYOK is relatively new to the market but I’m wondering if there’s a major interest in like making 3D printed cases or sticker skins for the device?

This thing collects fingerprints nearly as bad as my Traveler and I’m hoping to see like clip on cases or sticker based skins for it to get rid of them or hide them.

Extremely petty concern, I know! But I’m wonder if anyone who has the capability to do so has considered it lol

I hate to sound all greedy n selfish but since the delay it's been kind of silent, with the occasional "we'll have news soon!" I know it's out of their control but like... it's been so long of just complete silence. I don't wanna sound rude but it's kind of soiling all the excitement I had for this device 🥲

Anyone having an issue connecting the Winmaxle keyboard to the BYOK? It connects to my phone just fine, and the BYOK itself has no issue connecting to other keyboards.

Got the OmniOne working with my Jarne. Did a bit of editing on the BYOK (though I must admit I'm still really struggling with the "find my place" problem; I can search for my &&& mark to see where I left off, but then the cursor jumps me to the beginning of the file and I basically have to page down a million times to get back to where I left off.) and a bit of card browsing on the OmniOne. I think what I want most out of a dual editing setup like this is the ability to type notes that link to various parts of the manuscript. I've been using :: for this so far, but when they get imported into the scratchpad, they're not linked to any kind of context, so I'll have to seek each one out manually in the manuscript files rather than being able to jump to each spot in context. It would be cool to be able to link cards in a cardstack with parts of the manuscript as well. But even without that stuff I'm still making progress nonetheless! Feels good.

So I managed to dig my BYOK up but printed a copy of the files with a random cube inside to make it solid in case I had to loan it out to a friend for measurements.

My actual BYOK is sitting in my keyboard case but I picked up a foldable travel keyboard for it. As pictured, they should both fir very nicely into an A5 folio or box with space for a stand or charging accessories.

I'm thinking a low profile 3D printed case or similar. 🤔 The desire to make a leather case is real though... somebody stop me.

We are working on updating our German keyboard layout because a few of you mentioned some of the keys were incorrectly mapped. In our research, we are finding that there are several variations of German keyboard layouts, so I just wanted to know what layout you guys actually use. If you could provide a link or a picture of the layout, that would be very helpful—particularly one that shows not only the surface-level keys but also the special characters they can create.

Let me start by saying that I love my BYOK. It is exactly the kind of distraction reducing drafting tool that I wanted for quite a long time. There is just one little thing that is bothering me, and I am not sure whether it is me or the device.

My problem: I fail to produce the lower, opening German „quotation marks“.  It may seem like I am nitpicking here, but the differentiation between lower and upper quotation marks as indicators of opening and closing text sections of direct speech are somehow vital when writing dialogs in German.

Interestingly, in one of the earlier versions of the BYOK firmware it worked flawlessly, but now AltGr + b, m, n, or v does not produce anything. I have tried several keyboards (Bluetooth and cable). I have changed settings for languages and keyboards to make sure everything is set to German (BTW Umlaute and ß is all fine). I have tried several fonts and font sizes. Still no success.

Obviously, I have sent a support ticket and got the answer that the engineers will look into it. I have waited for the next firmware update, which explicitly stated that the key bindings for German quotes were adjusted. Still, I fail to understand, what I am doing wrong.

So, here is my question, for those fellow German writers out there. Can you write lower quotation marks on your device (firmware version 1.1.1)?

PS: I have tried workarounds like writing >>fake quotation marks<< that can be replaced through find + replace, but this is cumbersome, it looks ugly and should not be necessary in the first place.

Hey BYOK team,

I am eagerly awaiting the Swiss Keyboard layout to be added to the BYOK software as it's obviously a bigger inconvenience to not have all the characters where you'd expect them😀 Haven't written as much as I should/could have due to this.

Whilst I have a Keyboard with US layout as well, I'm just not as used to it and my Logitech MX Mechanical at home is CH layout.

Any idea of a timeline for this layout? Appreciate I'm in a niche here😂

Anyone have any experience of one of these keyboards? I like the idea of an ultra-portable setup but I'd love to get feedback from someone who's used it!
