Let me start by saying that I love my BYOK. It is exactly the kind of distraction reducing drafting tool that I wanted for quite a long time. There is just one little thing that is bothering me, and I am not sure whether it is me or the device.

My problem: I fail to produce the lower, opening German „quotation marks“.  It may seem like I am nitpicking here, but the differentiation between lower and upper quotation marks as indicators of opening and closing text sections of direct speech are somehow vital when writing dialogs in German.

Interestingly, in one of the earlier versions of the BYOK firmware it worked flawlessly, but now AltGr + b, m, n, or v does not produce anything. I have tried several keyboards (Bluetooth and cable). I have changed settings for languages and keyboards to make sure everything is set to German (BTW Umlaute and ß is all fine). I have tried several fonts and font sizes. Still no success.

Obviously, I have sent a support ticket and got the answer that the engineers will look into it. I have waited for the next firmware update, which explicitly stated that the key bindings for German quotes were adjusted. Still, I fail to understand, what I am doing wrong.

So, here is my question, for those fellow German writers out there. Can you write lower quotation marks on your device (firmware version 1.1.1)?

PS: I have tried workarounds like writing >>fake quotation marks<< that can be replaced through find + replace, but this is cumbersome, it looks ugly and should not be necessary in the first place.
