Zone 2 …..?

I started training in zone 2 about 3 times a week. My other two runs are Long runs and intervals ( I alternate intervals with tempo).

I know zone 2 is ment to be easy. But even after a 30-60 minute run I don’t really feel tired at all and could go longer. Even in zone 3 I can maintain a conversation.

So I’m wondering if I should just be sticking to my pace and let the magic of zone 2 work. Or if there’s anything I should change?

Any advice would help, even just to better understand my journey and what I should be looking out for ?

Generated a "Wrapped" style card for my runs this year! 🏃‍♂️

I wanted to visualize my running progress in a more aesthetic way instead of just looking at the default dashboards. Hit 450 km so far with 95 runs! April was definitely my strongest month.

How is everyone else's mileage looking this season? Are you guys tracking any specific milestones?

For those without subscription - how long are you sticking with Strava?

I’m a long time user - probably 10+ years now. Mostly tracking running but occasionally bike rides etc.

I don’t pay for premium because the basic features work for me. I’m ok with new features being gated but more and more the regular used to be free features are restricted.

Recently, after a race I was checking the app and realized now Best Efforts are gated too. It shows my race was my third best effort but I have no way of checking what’s my second or first!

For those without subscription what are we doing? Are we just sticking around hoping the basic functionality won’t be taken away? How long are you gonna let this go on 🥲

First Half Marathon at 18

First half marathon at 18

A few comments:

- recently quit smoking weed after 3-4 years, lungs felt amazing but have been running alot which has helped

- incredibly stoked about this considering I tore my ACL, LCL, and MCL (yes the unhappy triad injury), and had surgery in November of 2023

However, my knee did feel tender after I got back, both knees, but mainly the operated one.

- what is the advice I should heed concerning this - am I able to keep running based on how my knee feels? Should I discuss this with a sports therapist?

Also, what is my best running split? I want to get as fast as I can, keep my knee healthy, but also maintain muscle (i want to bulk soon and get back in the gym). How many time should I run a week? How many easy ones and how many hard? Distances?

Thanks for any help.

Dear Strava, can you get in touch to celebrate my Dad?

Dear Strava, during the lockdown my Father, (along with many of us) got a bit less fit than he was. He started cycling for fitness, aged 83.

At some point he set himself a target of 40,075 kilometres; 24,902 miles, the distance round the equator. Last two years he has done 5000 miles and he will has about 1000 miles to go, which he will likely hit by July.

Strava has played a good part in motivating him, can Strava give him some sort of recognition?

He is just a guy, not an athlete (before) and he is now 89 fit and sharp.

What’s the deal with the API restrictions

I wanted to make a small app for me and my friends to use for some friendly asynchronous competition over segments - essentially the concept being we designate some local segments as sprint/climb segments, and fight for green/polka dot jersey points over some amount of weeks.

However one of the first things in the strava docs is “Strava reserves the right to revoke your API Token if you violate the API Agreement, including but not limited to, uses that enable virtual races or competitions and uses that replicate Strava sites, services or products.”

It feels like what I want to do constitutes a virtual race/competition, but there is no way to set this up with the structure I’m after on strava’s own platform? Plus it sounds like my use case would violate the “community” element where I would share the data with the other friends?

Am I understanding the terms and conditions correctly? The use of the API sounds super restricted.

If I am, is strava likely to care if it’s just a small app used by a group of friends or whatever?

I built an app that picks a random route from your Strava history based on difficulty

Fellow Strava addicts — I have 500+ rides logged and I kept doing the same routes over and over. So I built Debalu to fix that.

How it works: connect your Strava, choose Easy / Normal / Hard (based on distance + elevation, customizable to your level), and it randomly picks a route you've already ridden. Road and MTB supported.

My favorite unexpected feature: it shows you "memories" — routes you did around the same dates 1–2 years ago. Great motivation to get back on a climb you haven't touched in a while.

Free tier gives you 7 spins per week, which is enough for most weekend warriors. Optional premium for unlimited. No ads.

Available on iOS, Android coming very soon. Would love to hear what Strava features you wish existed — that's basically how this app started.

I’ll drop the link to the app in a comment below to keep the post clean.

Can't send messages anymore

Hey, I was talking to someone on the app and I had to delete the conversation multiple times in a few days.

However, last time I deleted, I think Strava perceived me as a bot and I can't send messages to this person anymore.

I can see that he has sent me a message, but I can't reply. It's written "you can't reply in this channel".

I tried to contact the support via a ticket, but it seems that it's impossible to contact directly an expert a Strava.

Has this problem happened to someone before ???

Not having the option to add muscle heatmap on weight training activity

Hi, when I track my weight lifting with a Garmin watch, and upload it in Strava I don’t get the option to add a muscle map. My friends having the same exact watch are able to, but I am not. Does anyone know why, and how I fix it?

How much should you increase your weekly average per week?

Im kinda new to strava and think im more capable than 114 average since i have a background in sports, but nonetheless i don’t want to overdo it. Whats the rule of thumb you use for this stava metric?

New segment won't backfill

I've had success with a bug report here in the past so let me try again.

For the last year or two, when I created a public segment, it would sometimes backfill with previous attempts from others. Most of the time though, it would not. I found that if I clicked edit on the segment and then saved it without changes, it would immediately start backfilling until completion.

Now I'm having the same initial issue of no backfilling, but Strava seems to have patched the workaround. Now when I click edit and save, it shows an error message that a new segment cannot be created because it's too similar to an existing segment. I get this message even if I slightly change the start or end points, but isn't a slight tweak to these points likely the entire reason to edit in the first place?

It seems like there are multiple bugs here. First, no backfilling, and second, inability to actually edit start and end points of a segment slightly.

.GPX

But an app so saturated with features—between the superfluous and the useless—rewards, challenges, social stuff, syncing with a thousand pointless things… and then I can’t upload a GPX file? What kind of logic is that?

How exactly does Strava emergency beacon know when someone needs help?

I have added an emergency contact to my Strava account. The emergency contact asked me about how and when the notification knows when I need help or I just forgot to restart my workout

  1. How does the watch know when something has happened to warrant an emergency beacon? (Like time of inactivity during a workout)?

  2. What kind of emergency email or text would they receive?

I tried googling these things but nothing really came up.
