Stealth camped last night looking out across Dunedin, NZ. Any torch would have been very visible against the unit mountain, so the big moon and glow from the city were welcome. Frost on the grass this morning, and an early rise from me so I was up by the time any walkers arrived.

Hey everyone, not sure if people will be interested but I've been living out of a tiny Toyota Vitz Gen 1 from 2002 for the past two months whilst travelling Europe (plan is to go from Malta to NorthCape, Norway, which is the Northernmost point on mainland Europe (afaik) and in the Arctic).

Posting here since I usually see people posting rather large cars and I was thinking maybe I could give some pointers to someone who is thinking of doing something similar out of a small car of their own!

Happy to answer questions! Would love to, even :)

I'm also documenting the journey on YouTube if any of you are interested, it's Gary's Gambit on YouTube, but the videos are quite delayed haha

Plans of underground year-round shelter. Looking for advice.

Plans of underground year-round shelter. Looking for advice.

#1. What would you do for full guaranteed waterproofing/bug proofing all the walls and roofs?

#2. How would you go about making an underground garden? Mainly referring to natural light.

#3. How would you collect water?

#4. how do you shower?

#5. Preferred method of tool upkeep and management as well as hunting materials?

(Yes I want this to be a fully self sufficient shelter)

New to this sub….. new Reddit account to but I make new ones every few months.

I’ve stealth camped for years in both rural and urban environments , some rules I’ve established:

- anywhere is pretty campable 12 midnight to 5 AM.
-always up and out by 6Am.
-stashing supplies is 10x better than carrying them around all day.
-a simple tarp is better than anything and can be easy to set up or folded into complex housing.

I’ve camped NYC in Central, Also Miami Beach, Hawaiis big island, Boston both downtown and surrounding green spaces, LA in West Hollywood and other random places.

I have strict rules I live by as I said above, more include
-never trusting anyone else camping
-always staying clean even with baby wipes, and changing clothes regularly , always throwing away old clothes.
-no drugs
-always ready to fight, even waking up to fight

Daily carry is a backpack with phone charger. I have a single coat and 2 days worth of socks and underwear. Baby wipes and my Bible. I have tarps stored where I camp

Crazy experiences include being visited by bears and police, as well as many other wild animals.

I will be interested to see others experiences

I know to arrive late, and leave early, after 9pm, before 8am. My main concerns are where I should park my car, avoiding cameras, and good suggestions for spots. Will a parking lot suffice for my car? Will people bat an eye at a random car in a public lot? I have a dog as well.

I am an experienced camper, new to stealth camping.

my boyfriend - Thomas Jackson - has gone missing from Aransas Pass / Port Aransas, TX area. he was last seen heading south toward TX-1069. the police and i have reviewed the video from the walmart parking lot in which he left from. he was last seen on video at 8:10am on April 27th.

look, please, he's 33, white male, 6ft. he was wearing a tan shirt with navy blue trim. black shorts. and navy blue sneakers with red trim. with his giant green osprey pack on his back. he doesn't have any ID on him besides his passport, and no money/cashapp card, or even a phone charger. phone has been dead since day 2 of him missing.

he was having delusions about being jesus christ. he told me some absurd things over the course of the past 2 weeks before he went missing. but the morning he walked off, he said he needed to go walk with god, and setup a cocoon for himself to sleep. i assumed he meant he was going to setup his hammock somewhere nearby and then come back after getting some rest. clearly, this has not been the case.

i have reached out to his family (his sister) and it turns out there is a history of many mental health disorders in their family. also turns out that this is not the first time this has happened with him. i had no idea. during the almost 4 years we've been together, he has never had an episode where he thought he was jesus, or walked off in psychosis.

please. i need help searching for him. i am petrified that he's hurt himself out there and it's my fault for letting him walk away. he kept saying he'd be back, and that he'd be back by his birthday, which is may 14th. but it's not like him to have not reached out on his phone by now.

please, if you've seen him or know the area or anything just reach out. i love him so much and i want and need him to be okay. please.

Nano Tents mean no more homelessness?

If we had Self Replicating Steel Strong Carbon Nano Fiber Self Contained  Nano Energy Powered Tent Houses, Molecular Chainsaw Nano Swords, Diamons Bullet Nano Machine Guns, ans Self Healing Nano Blood, could a human say ""Screw you!" To Governments and live anywhere they want as a Super Nomad and ignore all government rules or not?

Hi,

I am stealth camping in my car and enjoy a cup of coffee (cannot pay for a daily of course). I have one of those huge Folgers coffee items so its's just a matter of getting the hot water.

I just found this (amazing) idea - car kettle or any portable kettle.

https://www.amazon.com/portable-kettle/s?k=portable+kettle

Any recommendations how to think about this, in terms of portable power cord vs car power cord, voltage?

Thank you!

Looking for sleeping bag recommendations

I'm trying to find a sleeping bag that has a small-ish form factor when rolled up (doesn't need to be tiny, just not massive. My current sleeping bag is almost twice the size of the rest of my kit) but the issue I continue to run into is that they're either too short, I'm 6'4 and they rarely come up to cover my whole chest if it isn't huge while rolled up. Does anyone else have a similar experience/good recommendations? Doesn't necessarily even have to be a -50° one, I'm more concerned about the fit

Have you all seen this movie about a women living in her car? The only spoiler i will give is that I dont like that they make it seem like anyone houseless or living in a car started out with substance abuse (well not really, they make it clear that this story is specific to this woman but i know how the public thinks). Beyond that, this is a fantastic unique view of living in a vehicle and how any mishap with the vehicle can be a huge life event.

Hey, looking for some recommendations from people with actual experience.

I’m after a stealthy 2-man tent (green or camo ideally) that’s:
Ultralight (around 1–2kg ideally)
Good for backpacking / wild camping
Long enough for a 6’3 guy (this is the main issue I keep running into)
Won’t completely destroy my bank account
I don’t mind going slightly over 2kg if it’s worth it, but trying to keep things fairly light.

Trekking pole tents
Low-profile tunnel tents (for stealth)
Anything that blends in well (don’t want bright orange/white)

This will be the first time that I will be embarking on an actual winter camping foray this month. In researching gear thoroughly, headlamps are something that I had never thought about before but it turns out that the winter environment does indeed have an impact on battery performance and the output of brightness.

I have learned that the adjustable brightness settings will probably do better in cold climates. Saving battery using a lower mode is possible, whereas a headlamp that outputs a high lumen will wear down the battery fairly quickly in a colder environment.

Scrolling through Amazon I found several options that offer multiple brightness features at good prices. I also checked out Alibaba where the choices are essentially limitless headlamps that change brightness range from the cheapest to pro the options for adjustable headlights are endless!

Has anyone used headlamps that work well and performed in subzero or near freezing environments? I’m looking for something dependable and don’t want it to quit on me out there! Would appreciate any words from experienced camping not just specs. Thanks everyone!
