4/22/2026: When walking by, the puppies A2069095,A2069098,A2069099 were all curled up on the bed. I also noticed that they roughouse with each other, biting and pinning each other down. When enrichment was offered they were all playing with the plush toys.

4/23/2026: wiggly bodies as I approach kennel, all walked to door as I approached and took treats from hand. When given enrichment they played with their plushies.

4/23/2026: seperated from siblings due to her fighting with both siblings in kennel

4/24/2026: Peggy presented a wiggly body, fast wagging tail and smiling mouth. when entering her kennel she would pancake onto the floor until i baby talked and then crawled towards me and let me pet her. after a couple of pets she began to jump around and lick my hand.

4/25/2026: As I approached kennel, Peggy bolted through doggy door and peeked through as I placed kibbles in food bowl, waited until I was gone to come back inside

4/26/2026: dog was in the kennel and when i approcjhed she would quickly go the opposite way i then began to baby talk to her ands she slowly pokes her head but then goes back avoiding eye contact from e

4/28/2026: Wagging tail, wiggly body, submissive when I entered the kennel, and darts to the other side of the kennel, but immediately came up when baby talked.

5/1/2026: dog was in the kennel and when i walked in to place her in the other side of the kennel she kept walking the opposite side and then finally walked to the outside portion.

5/3/2026: when trying to walk into kennel she runs to the outwards part, uses the restroom on the outside and will lay on bed throughout day, walks up sometimes to smell my hand when calling her over

5/4/2026: Shy but she takes treats so I call her to move to other side and able to clean inside. she presents whale eyes and tense body.

5/6/2026: Comes up to me with a wiggly body and wagging tail when offered treats

5/7/2026: Standing in front of kennel as I approach with a relaxed body and wagging tail, eats treats

5/8/2026: pup was in the kennel laying down and as i approached her she had wiggly body and wagging tail and as i opened the doggy doors she walked through it and lay back down.

5/9/2026: in the outside area of kennel this morning, waited for me to leave to come inside to eat food during AM

One day she had a family, familiarity, and her brother SOLOVINO beside her. Now she’s sitting in a shelter kennel wondering where everyone went.

There are no behavior notes for SHAKIRA. No personality details.
No favorite things. Nobody even bothered to tell the shelter who she really is. 😞

But you can see it in her face — this is a dog who has loved people before.

And somewhere in this building is her brother, separated from her after likely spending years together. 🐾
They can’t even see each other now.

4/26/2026: Passing by the kennel with dogs, the puppies are running up to the kennel and forward barking at the dogs.

4/27/2026: Mr. Maddox is house with his sibling, they tend to play with each other and their toys. They will run up to the kennel door and start foward barking if people and if any dog are walking by.

4/29/2026: forward barking, play fighting with siblings all day, when seeing other dogs they will jump on kennel door.

4/30/2026: same behavior as yesterday, fighting with siblings will figure out which sibling is being bullied to seperate when space becomes available.

5/1/2026: High pitched barking, lunging at other dogs passing kennel, all three siblings at the kennel door following other dogs. Had to close the divider so they could not see other dogs passing.

5/4/2026: Mr. Matteo is a puppy with puppy attitude, is jumpy, High pitched barking, lunging at other dogs when they are walking by. Has a wiggly body, open mouth smile, happy tail.

5/5/2026: Mr. Massox has a wiggly body, open mouth smile, happy tail. When going into his kennel he will run to the back of his kennel.

5/6/2026: friendly this morning moved into bin, plays with plushies and sleeps on bed

5/9/2026: Placing on AE: Maddox will forward bark and forward lunge at passing dogs

5/10/2026: Maddox continues to forward bark and forward lunge at passing dogs. While tethered to the wall for cleaning he also forward barks at dogs in their kennel. He also thrashes and chokes himself while tethered unless you stand close enough to him that he can touch you while you clean (kibble treats and chicken do not redirect this).

5/11/2026: Maddox was more calm today. He was a bit vocal at the start of the morning. When I approached he was at the front of his kennel with a wiggly body, wagging tail. As I went to leash him he did back away and cower a bit. Once I leashed him I tethered him to the wall and he sat with a neutral body, he occasionally trembled a little when I wasn't within touching distance. I gave him treats, lots of pets and baby talked to him while I cleaned his kennel.

4/24/2026: Weighed 19.0 lbs. Normal exam. Vaccinated with DA2PP-V and Bordetella, dewormed, given Pyrantel and Advantage Multi.

5/02/2026: Weighed 19.0 lbs. Normal exam. Parvo tested due to one of the littermates that got adopted coming back with parvo. PARVOTEST NEGATIVE.

5/08/2026: Weighed 21.2 lbs. Normal exam. Surgery: NEUTER. Monitoring Equipment Used - Pulse Ox & EKG. Isoflurane/O2 maint. Sx. - Routine Castration. Surgery Technique: Scrotal Incision. Mouth Exam: WNL.

5/08/2026: Weighed 21.2 lbs. URI exam. S/O: Notice green nasal discharge while recovering from sx. A: DDx CIRD. P: Move to Tx room and initiate treatment; Rx Doxycycline 100mg SID x 10 days.

5/08/2026 Treatments: Neuter Scrotal, Nail Trim, E-Collar SM, Rabies 1 Year, 0.65 KDT, 0.21 Ketofen, 0.50 Carprofen75.

5/08/2026 Treatments: 1.00 Doxy100C.

5/09/2026: Weighed 21.2 lbs. URI exam. This morning there was 2 large piles of undigested food in the kennel. He was neutered the day before all the food was gone but he seemed to be a bit nauseous.

5/10/2026: Weighed 21.2 lbs. URI exam. S/O: vomiting reported, not noted. A: gastritis post sx. P: no tx needed.

5/9/2026: Presented the same behavior as yesterday. Easily leashed, neutral body and low tail.

5/6/2026: Weighed 37.4 lbs. Intake condition minor. Pt has scabs and dried blood on her eyelids of the Lt eye. Pt has 3 masses on the body. They are soft, round masses. One on the left shoulder and then 2 on the ventral Rt abdomen. Assessment: Lipomas, entropion. Prescribed erythromycin ophthalmic ointment and an E-Collar if pt actively scratching at the eye.

5/6/2026: Weighed 37.4 lbs. Normal exam. DA2PP-V given.

5/7/2026: Weighed 37.4 lbs. Dermatitis. Bordetella, dewormer, Rabies vaccine, Pyrantel, Advantage Multi Dog given. HW test NAD negative. Erythromycin ophthalmic ointment prescribed.

5/5/2026: Preston has been lounging around in his kennel and laying on bedding. He remains very quiet and relaxed in kennel at all times. Walks well on a loose leash outside and back to kennel.

P: radiograph images revealed a previous fracture of right femur that is healed due to the boney callous surrounding it. recommend radiologist and ortho consultation. long term can develop early osteoarthritis. did not place on oral pain meds since the fracture is old and healed. does not seem painful upon palpation. Ketofen and Antisedan given.

5/8/2026: Weighed 60.0 lbs. Injured. DA2PP-V given.

📝 Shelter Notes:

Bolts through doggy door as he hears the room door open, peaking head through doogy door. Will bark at other dogs walking past kennel.

timid body, crouching down and running away from me, half tucked in tail, avoiding eye contact. would forward bark towards other dogs passing by his kennel.

marking adopt eval in morning they are barking, inside kennel and outside kennel when walking dogs by, covering them up to see if that will help calm down in the day time.

contiously alarm barking at me and customers throughout day even while covered sibling is playful while he is on alert and will back away when moving cover to view him.

Mr. Siltan came to SD this morning, she is very vocal in her kennel , will run to the kennel door and forward bark when other dogs are walking by. Is housed with her sibling and they do play well together

as i walked in the kennel to move the pup to the other side of the kennel dog kept avoiding me moving the opposite side from where i was. and in the aftrenoon as citizens approch his kennel he greeted them from far with wagging tail.

pup goes to the other side of the kennel when i approched and when i baby talk to him he only watches me pet his sibling.

Sultan painted his kennel and was extremely vocal this morning. When I approached he was very timid, he backed into a corner of hius kennel and lowered his head while having a soft tail wag. He let me leash him and carry him to the wall. While he was tethered he tried chewing the leash, I gave him treats to redirect him.

Sultan has been quietly laying on his bed all through out the morning playing with his enrichment.

I separated Sultan and Princess yesterday afternoon. This morning when I approached Sultan he was standing at the back of his kennel, neutral body and soft wagging tail. He approached me when I offered treats, I replaced his ID band with no issues. During cleaning he was teathered to the wall and sat there quitely. He's been quite and has kept his kennel clean throughout the day.

Sultan is the quieter of the two pups. However, he will occasionally drat at the kennel door while forward barking, this happens when its other dogs and people.

Sultan painted his kennel again this morning and was extremely vocal. He was at the front of his kennel forward barking at every dog that walked past, I even noticed him wall jumping to see over the cover. When I approached to leash him, he was very timid, he backed into a corner of his kennel and lowered his head. He let me leash him and carry him to the wall. While he was tethered he tried chewing the leash, thrashed and choked himself until I was able to calm him down with baby talk and pets. While tethered he was forward barking and lunging at dogs that were in their kennels. He also snapped and snarled at one of my other dogs as I was putting that dog back into it's kennel. Kibble treats and chicken did not redirect him today.

Medical (URI), Behavior (over aroused, painting in kennel, extremely vocal, forward barking at dogs passing by kennel, becomes very timid when attempting to leash, chewing through leash, thrashing, snapping and snarling at dogs passing by to kennel)
