Finally got my hands on the spb507 loved the black date wheel and pulled the trigger. Immediately did a cyclops removal and replaced the leather strap with a seiko stainless steel 20mm bracelet!

First and not last boo boo on my baby alpinist. Must have carelessly smashed into something. Shes my GADA. My most expensive watch to date. And most recently purchased. Lesson here: its a watch and will get war wounds. Wear it. Don't baby the baby.
Finally I have a nice time piece, gifted by my wife for my 40th. A piece that will be with cherished by me for life, and one that I have waited for, for a long time.
After countless visits to retailers, accompanied by many YouTube viewings of various watches, I came to the conclusion that I needed an Alpinist. The SARB was on my radar but I felt I needed something new, and a new SARB would be far out of reach. Then came the 121, which I liked but the white on the compass and date window felt like it distracted the dial.
Then came the day I walked into a retailer and saw the 507. This was it, I was completely sold, but I simply do not have the budget to drop that sort of $$ on a watch.
To be gifted this on my 40th is a dream come true, I am so happy to be part of the Alpinist club and have this time piece! Goal is to wear in the original strap as I do like the elegance and dark chocolate colour, but if anyone has some recommendations for some nice, similar straps, please let me know!
As much as I’d expected. So much so, that 2 days into wearing this and I’ve placed my order for the SPB377
GMTs are my favorite watches. Definitely did not want to go GMT out of the gate for this model. Wanted the classic green dial Alpinist. But for sure the GMT would be my second. 😂
My first watch! Just got this beauty from a local store not too far from my house. And yes I’m aware of how common it is for Alpinist series to have a misaligned compass — and even then most people actually say that a misaligned compass is a proof of authenticity of Seiko Alpinist.
As the pictures I attached above, the compass on mine is pretty aligned to my eyes. I do believe it’s an authentic piece though, but can anyone help confirm?
Are they finally get it right and more precise on the new batches? The squeakiness of leather strap is still present though.
EDIT: Many people have DM’d me, and experts from this community and others have confirmed that this particular Seiko Alpinist SPB507J1 is indeed the real deal. In fact, it’s one of the finest and most perfectly aligned Alpinist watches they’ve ever encountered! I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their guidance and kind words❤️🙏🏻
I have a 20mm Forstner Bonklip that I’m planning to use on the new Alpina Startimer. Figured to just try it on the SPB503 Instead of the Uncle Jubilee I always wear it on. Really digging it. Really comfortable and looks sharp. Also doesn’t make the watch feel top-heavy somehow? I also have a Forster straight bullet bracelet in 20mm that I might try on later
